Hi Thijmen, try a mineral mix that is not fertilized as is Lechuza Pon. There is nothing wrong with Lechuza containers, I can tell you as much as that. But Anthurium does not need and - more important than that - want a lot of fertiliter. I therefore use Vulkatec instead of Pon. Vulkatec is the same mix as Pon (pumice, lava rock, zeolith), but it comes without fertilizer. Happy gardening! Marc
My experience with Lechuza PON is amazing! Everything thrives and pushes leafs like crazy even during winter. My Philodendrons nearly doubled in size during winter sitting in PON. Recommend this Substrat big times! 💚
Hi! Your videos encouraged me to switch to pon! 😄 I don’t like the look of self watering pots, I want to keep my plants in terracotta, and I noticed you have some being kept in terracotta. It would be really helpful if you can make a vid for pons directly in terracotta. Thank you!!!
Hello. That syngonium that you say is doing poorly is a S. 'Ngern Laima'. I watched this and your in-depth video on Lechuza Pon and both are really informative. I just started transitioning hoyas to LECA and I'm doing research about growing them in Pon because I came across a UA-camr who said her hoyas all got root rot in LECA
Hi Thijmen, me again: Lechuza Pon works absolutely beautifully with tropical Hibiscus, with olive trees and citrus trees. But Christmas / Thanksgiving / Holiday cactus is not happy with Lechuza Pon. Here again you fare better with an orchid mix of pine bark and clay pebbles. Anthuriums, phals and X-mas cactus have the same requirements and can be treated pretty much the same. Stay safe. Marc
I recently put my hoya sunrise in pon (and a few others are already in pon) and it started 3 new growth points on top of the 2 already growing points. They definitely love pon! I hear when hoyas bloom they are extra thirsty (This is all conjecture I haven't had any bloom yet) but Pon makes it super easy to manage, much like leca does :)
I have had success with begonias and Marantacae in Lechuza pon. Last May in frustration, I just cut back my Calathea warceswitzii to the soil, uprooted it and potted it in pon. The plant regrew quickly and all the leaves are stunning. I then transferred all the others to pon. They are doing great. I have 3 begonias in Lechuza pon and one in soil which I want to transfer to pon but the stores are all out of Lechuza pon.
Yeah the product got really popular in the last couple of months. Hopefully they will have some back in stock soon! I know you can also make it yourself!
Do you have any advice for begonias in pon? My begonia was doing SO well and I wanted to transfer her to my DIY pon and she became all droopy. I let a day pass and she didnt get any better so I panicked and put her back in soil w a little pon. Is there something I was doing wrong? ):
.. Some Begonias go kinda dormant and leave only the bulb.. Keep the bulb and give it a wee little water every now and then, just to keep it slightly moist, and when spring comes you just slowly increase the watering and the light too and it will grow back.. It only takes a little patience 🤗
🤔 For the Begonias try a 50/50 mix of potting soil and Pon. Begonias like a moist soil but also well drained soil. The capillary action of the Pon should retain enough water to allow the potting soil to retain the correct amount of moisture. 🤷🏽♂️ just a though. Hope it is helpful.
Hello! Thank you for the video. I’ve switched all my calatheas and marantas to lechuza pon and they are doing very well. I’ve also repotted my Stromanthe trio star and she (BIG DIVA) has calmed down, settled in and while not thriving with new growth is maintaining her current beautiful leaves without necrosis or brown tips. I have an Alocasia Black Beauty and some pink Syngoniums arriving soon and will move them to pon as well. Your video has helped me know what to expect and am happy the Alocasia will do well. All the best!

Hi! Do you mind to share / explain more about how you use the predatory insects to prevent your plants from getting thrips? I couldnt find the product you're using :-/ i would love to know more about this please! :) thank you!
Recently attempted and did not add enough Charcoal so ammonia levels got too high and caused rot. I only put a few rooted cuttings in. Gonna triple the charcoal this time.
@@Propqueen you can also try doubling the amount of zeolite in your mix. Zeolite is a natural ammonia neutralizer. Just keep an eye on the pH with multiple types of volcanic rock. I have had some luck adding in small amounts of fine orchid bark (Orchiata I think it's called) which helped level out the pH as well. 👍🏻
.. Snake plants, Sanseviera's are in family with succulent will not like it.. They need to go completely bonedry between watering or their roots will rot.. As with Dracaena, Aloe Vera, cactus and so on..
I killed my calathea rosy in Lechuza Pon. I’m not sure I would try that one in it again. I’ve wondered about water propagated pothos. I have many marble queen cuttings in water right now, and I thought it would be okay. Thoughts?
Thank you for this informative video! Just want to check, do you have all of your pon plants in reservoir with wicking or do they just sit on the water bath? :)
I believe you wait until the pon is dry enough (depending on that plants requirements) before you refill. Maybe a water meter stick would be good to check the dryness
Hi, I’m very new to lechuza pon and just recently transition some of my plants over to pon. My question is...do they need to have a water reservoir just like Leca. Or do you water the pot and let the water drain through ? Thanks!

How do you convert plants from soil substrate to Lechuza pon substrate? Do you have to remove completely the soil which are deeply attached on the roots system? Or you can combine lechuza and soil together? Do you have some advice?
I share your struggles. Like you said, philodendrons and alocasias seem to do well in lechuza pon. Anthuriums-nope. Scindapsus-nope. I have a begonia maculata wightii that is doing amazing well in a very small pot of lechuza pon. When it reached 1 meter, I had to cut it. Have not tried it on ficus elastica yet, but mine do like LECA. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Thanks for sharing your experience aswell! One meter sounds like a big begonia, very cool. My ficus also grew really good in LECA but I like it more in pon. 😋😋
My anthuriums love pon, they hated my aroid soil mix, sphagnum moss too and now they seem happy in pon lol . The only anthurium who hated pon was my veitchii omg it went into shock and lost all its leaves ( rip 40cm leaves ) asked @plantattic on insta as their plants ( loads of anthuriums ) are gorgeous and they are used lechuza pon almost a 100%
I did a giant repot where I converted all plants to Lechuza. So far two weeks in only one died of transplant shock. The big one doesn't seem to use up the water in the reservoir. Is it possible that the pot is too big?
@@PlantingPlants Ur welcome. I have 5 stems in the LS 50 and I had 2 stems of variegated Monstera in the LS 35, but one stem didn't make it and is now sitting in water. The plant in the LS 35 has lost some roots but new roots are coming in. So now I try to water the plants from the top every week until they have really settled in. I see some occasional light browning of the leaves, but nothing dramatic. The Thai, the Peru, the Birkin and the Minima look happy though.
Hiya, I'd like to ask do you find your alocasias produce less corms in pon? I heard that somewhere and it's the only thing holding me back switching my alocasias to pon
hey there, I recently transfered my Alocasia Polly to a bigger pot and I found 19 corms in the pon. So in my experience I can't confirm less corms in pon and my Polly really loves being in pon! I hope this was helpful for you 🙂
I have yet another question. I just bought a Homealomena Rubescent plant. Would this thrive in Pon you think? Not in the selfwatering pot but just a plastic pot and then Pon where I would water it frequently. Hope you see this🙏🏼💚
Hey there, I'm pretty sure it will like it As mentioned , when you are not using a reservoir you should really be on top of watering! But luckily for you, a Homealomena will show it when it needs water! :P
@@PlantingPlants Thank you so much. One last question. Do you think it would be better to just give it a reservoir from the beginning then? I know this type of plant is really thirsty. My problem is I just don’t have the selfwatering pots from Lechuza and the plant is huge as fu*k😆 What would you do if it was you? Thank you so much in advance. I really appreciate it💚
Alocasias loosing their leaves is called dormancy and not a sign of unhappieness, but a natural habit. Sometimes the Alocasia benefits from dormancy and comes back healthier in spring. 🪴👍🏻

The only anthurium who hated pon was my veitchii omg it went into shock and lost all its leaves ( rip 40cm leaves ) asked @plantattic on insta as their plants ( loads of anthuriums ) are gorgeous and they are used lechuza pon almost a 100%
@@Meily-LEE My veitchii is the one that didn't like pon either. Thanks for sharing your experience.
@@Meily-LEE this happened to 2 of my alocasias jacklyn. Both went into shock and lost all leaves. What is your setup? Reservoir with a wicked? Glass?
I did a giant repot where I converted all plants to Lechuza. So far two weeks in only one died of transplant shock. The big one doesn't seem to use up the water in the reservoir. Is it possible that the pot is too big?
Hey man, thanks for your reaction. Yeah that could be the case, how big is the pot and how big is the reservoir?
My problem is I just don’t have the selfwatering pots from Lechuza and the plant is huge as fu*k😆
What would you do if it was you? Thank you so much in advance. I really appreciate it💚
Sorry for the late response. I would just use a reservoir from the beginning especially since they are, as you mentioned, thirsty plants!
Plantedrs where did U get them
Take a shot every time he says lechuza pon lol
Hahaha are you drunk yet?
lechuza pon
*shot*
Comment something...:what a handsome guy
haha well thanks a lot
Seems like syngonium starlight will grow the same way in others substrate too i try in many recipes but same result i have got so sad
How about Sansevieria?
They can also grow in lechuza pon!
How is your Hoya doing in pon?
It's doing fine. Right now it's winter here so it's not really growing a lot!
Do orchids do well in pon
I had one orchid in pon, it did good but I don't really like orchids so I can't tell if other orchids will do well in pon.
Where can I purchase the Pon?
www.lechuza.com / www.amazon.com
Do you ever make your own pon?
I actually never did but I really wanna do!
What about fern?
How do you water your plant in lechuza pon?
There is a playlist about lechuza pon on my channel, I mention this question in the FAQ.
I notice you keep your larger plants in smaller pots. Why is that?
No particular reason. But I do feel like they don't need a lot of more space since they grow in an hydroponic set up!
Aglonema?
Never tried, good question. I think they would, I have a few in leca and they seem to grow steady.
My Aglaonema love the Pon life.
That is not a good looking monstera Thai constellation
Alocasias loosing their leaves is called dormancy and not a sign of unhappieness, but a natural habit. Sometimes the Alocasia benefits from dormancy and comes back healthier in spring. 🪴👍🏻
