I repotted an Alocasia frydek and a Monstera deliciosa into pon about 4 weeks ago. Washing the roots was a bit of a mess and took way longer than I expected. The Monstera is doing well and is getting a new leaf. The Alocasia got rid of 3 little leafs but is also getting a much bigger new one. I didn't use Lechuza but the same mix with just bigger particles (around 5-8 mm) and no fertilizer in it. I think I'm going to repot all my plants into pon. I have used Lechuza Pon for succulents for a little Crassula ovata and it seems to like it as well.
Hi, I have read this does not keep the pest away only the gnats. Rinsing in the sink also can clogged. I am just starting my Pon journey. All the best.
i LOVE Lchuza Pon for alocasia! my black velvet held on to only 1 leaf for about a year, until i repotted it into pon. after it acclimated, its throwing out some MASSIVE leaves!!
I'll never replace soil. It's what Nature provides so to me, that's the best. The only time I don't use it is when I grow house plants in my aquariums.
What we do is we do not remove the soil we take the whole root ball with the soil and put it in the pon so that there’s pon on the bottom of the container and then surrounding the root ball and the plants are perfect. No yellow leaves and they stay wet for at least two months, we use a probe to check the moisture in the root ball
Hey there! I ended up transitioning my plants in pon back to a chunky aroid soil mix a couple months later. They weren't the biggest fans of pon. I don't use any slow release fertilizer in my plants. I just add a bit of Alaska Fish Fertilizer 5-1-1 into their water year-round.
@@PlantswithKevin glad they made it! My experience is existing roots will rot unless you cut the secondary roots off and put it in water then PON. That came from other planty people who love PON. I am not interested!
It's best to water your plants thoroughly before starting with the self-watering pot, usually every 1-2 weeks depending on the plant's needs and environmental conditions.
Thanks as always Kevin for the video. I’ve been looking up how much pon in Canada it’s quite expensive but I guess if I just changed a couple of my plants like my Al acacia it wouldn’t be too bad. What about fertilizing do they get nutrients from pon or do you have to fertilize Are you going to do another video once you add the bottom to the self watering pots just to explain further how are you? Take care of them thanks again.🇨🇦
I am glad I found you because I received my Pon yesterday and I don’t know what to do. Thank you for the video
Aww! Glad we found each other! ☺️ Make sure to check out my other videos too when you get a chance! 😃

Nice job with the repotting! Sounds like a bit of a mess, but at least the plants are happy. Can't wait to hear how they do with the pon!

I’ve noticed that as time went on. Some plants I like it for - others I do not. Thanks for sharing! 😃
I just started my PON journey, I hope we both have great outcomes!
That’s awesome!!! 😃 Any luck so far?
@@PlantswithKevin just barely started, also with alocasia jacklyn!☺️❤️
Awww nice! Mine is looking a little droopy :-/ but I’m trying not to think too much into it just yet lol
@@PlantswithKevin hold your breath and sing to her, lol! 😉

I’m excited to see how my plants do in it!
Perfect timing! Just got my first bag of PON couple weeks ago. And it’s just sitting staring at me 😩😂 but I’m excited
Lol that’s how I was! 😂
All this is new to
Me! I find it very interesting! Willing to give a try!
Will be checking out more info on this with the Pon.. 🧐
LOL! You should!
I think both you & your Alocasias will love PON!
I sure hope so!
Good tips on pon, haven’t try it yet 👍

Hope you like it!

Still love my good chunky aroid mix! 😃

Do you use any Slow-Release Fertilizer or does your Pon include it ? Would Pon be too moist / yet for Monstera ?

How did these plants do in PON? Knowing how finicky Tandarusa is I would be shocked if she made it. I hope she did!
They did well, but I’m not the biggest fan of pon. I ended up transitioning them back into chunky aroid soil!

How frequently do you water the plants before start using the tray of the self watering pot?

Thanks for the vid mate, so im new to PON, do you need to rinse it off first like you did? Doesnt it wash away the fertilser and nutrients?
Welcome! Yes you do!
This video has been awhile do you still use PON? I know you pot up with your own mix now.
I don’t! Wasn’t the biggest fan in the end. Chunky aroid soil mix is my go to again lol
When you wash pon, are you washing fertilizer away?
No, fortunately not :)

I sure will! :-) I found I was able to get a lot out of that little bag for how much it cost! I’ll be curious to see how it does!
Do you see change? I bought alocasia Jaclyn and I am going to repot it to the pon.
Wandering if you see progress.
Very nice plant collection!
Fun video! Don’t run pon sediment down your pipes. I’ve heard it will clog them idk
Thanks for the tip!!! I appreciate it! 😃
LECA also
Lechuza is really good to some plants but if plants become really big i prefer soil above leca or pon.
Good to know!
I just started using pon. I will see!
Good luck! :)
HI The lucheza pon you have says its the basic pon, which doesn't have fertiliser.
Good call! Didn’t realize that. Tho I do water all of my plants with a bit of fish fertilizer too, so fortunately they’re getting nutrients! :)
@PlantswithKevin yeah that's cool! I've bought the same self watering pots same colour lol
Great minds!!! Lololol
@@PlantswithKevin lol! Would have liked the lucheza pots, but way too expensive.
Same lol
Thank you for all the solid education! But OMG your poor garbage disposal 🤣
Tell me about it! 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for sharing 🪴🪴🪴🪴🪴💚
You are so welcome! 😃
Do you mean Alocasia Jacklyn? Not frydek 😅
😅 ok sorry I commented too early
Yup! I corrected myself in the video and poked fun at it lol 😜
