To take a beautiful American Airliner which changed the face of International Air Travel around the World, and run it on a few Batterries is an Insult to American Technology.
When, and IF battery prices ever do come down to be less expensive, and more efficient than Gasoline Engines; I MIGHT consider MAYBE putting electric motors on my airplanes.
They already are depending how you define efficient. Right now, the primary advantage of nitro is the energy density of fuel vs how much energy can be held in the same weight of battery. The other advantage is the sound and the smell. Other than that, electric is on par or even better. The brushless motors are amazing and actually far more efficient than engines although the batteries can't hold as much energy as fuel. Plus charging a battery is a heck of a lot cheaper than filling a tank.
That was soooo cool to see it actually fly so well.
Pancake look so beautiful but why soo small props?
Are there plans available for the XF5U? Or a kit?
hello John this is a homemade from the Scaleweltmeister Max Merkenschlager Germany of which there is no kit
the flapjack is amazing
The American Flapjack somewhat resembles the stuff of WWII German aviation designs.
