Last year I added hibiscus as well as rose hips to my fire cider....didn't add honey til I strained it...then I filled my bottles to half way with the strained cider, then the other half was 1/4.llcal raw honey and 1/4 Korbel brandy! Delicious!!
I made a 1/2 gallon jar a couple weeks before Christmas. I was straining it on my countertop the other day when my kiddo hopped up on the countertop and spilled almost all of it. I was heartbroken. Thankfully I managed too press out about a pint from the scraps. I've been dehydrating my scraps too. Nothing going to waste!
I made a batch for this past winter and we found out by taking a shot every morning as a preventive for cold and flu. It works great, and I'm on my 3rd batch
Love your videos and love seeing your mum offering advice and just being a mum with a wonderful smile and so proud of her daughter. BRING BACK THE MUM. Xxxxx
Good Saturday morning Honeystead. Excellent video as always. Thanks for sharing. all your advice for homemade cures for colds and flu this season - and avoiding OTC medications and prescription drugs with side effects. 🌹🌹🌼🌼
Thanks to you I discovered fire cider. I made 2 jars but ended up needed another 2. I LOVE IT! Warms your inside. Better than plain ACV. I added honey of course. I sort of did what you did but I added some pineapple and cayenne. I tried to press what I could out. In the future I am going to blend it and dry it and turn into powder. I loved your idea of putting it into capsules. My daughter will be able to stomach the capsules. That gave me an idea of taking my powdered vegetables I do and put in capsules too. ... off to see where I can purchase capsules and holder. Watching you from BC Canada. ❤ Learning a lot from you.
I have never had fire cider go bad, I think it is the fact that you added honey. After you finish the fire cider, dehydrate solids and grind to use as a spice
Thank you so much for your fire cider videos. I made some just to see what the fuss was about. After I took it the first time my breathing felt better. I had trouble breathing for a year after getting covid. I'm so glad you helped me become healthy again
One of my biggest frustrations of covid was remembering after having a bad bout with it (high fevers, intense aches, etc.) that I had tincture boneset the summer before and completely forgot to use it! Perhaps I need to tincture a memory booster…
@@TheHoneystead Lions Mane, is that a mushroom or a lichen? I need to look it up. OK, I looked it up and I have not seen anything like it here in the South. Interesting.
Hello! I am so happy to have come across your channel! I tried the Fire cider, only I didn't have tumeric and horseradish. I am delighted to have the results you have spoken about!
If you are pouring from a container without a spout something that helps is if you hold a chopstick or something similar to the edge of the side you are pouring from! Then the liquid will want to run down the chopstick instead of the side of the jar or bowl, so you can control where it goes
The color on that is incredible! I made one once with pomegranate and it was almost delicious! But never made with citrus or turmeric before. Well I am in a new place and on my own so I need to get another batch going! Thanks for sharing!!
My kids and I just made seven new jars with differing ingredients. So far it’s been a week and I’m liking what I’m tasting. The ones with hibiscus and pomegranate and elderberries is delicious. Also has the onions and usual other ingredients minus the horseradish. Lol
I was getting ready to say before you said about adding the honey “ it sounds like it will burn the hair out of your nose “ so it should like it will clear a head cold . LoL . THANKS
Hahahaha. Fire cider, then coffee, then teeth. I also keep my fire cider next to the coffee so I'll remember. The other night I mixed some with olive oil and had it on pasta with mushrooms and onions. Mmmmmmm
I need to make some of this up. A bit leery of the spicy stuff on two older tummies that no longer like spicy. Both hubby & I are recovery after a bout with a bug now. 😢
One tip, it’s a bit harder with a big bowl/pot, but to keep the liquid from running all over the place, get a rod of some sort, long spatula, (any sort of utensil that you can pour down) and press it to the edge of the bowl as you pour, it makes for a cleaner pour and the fluid follows the line of the utensil, if you didn’t know that, hope it can help🤗
Great tutorial & I hope your mom & you are healthy! I’ve made the Firecider a few times but never thought of adding citrus because it’s harder to get organic produce in my part of Alberta, Canada. Do you think dried elderberries are safe to add without cooking them first? Blessings to your family 🤗💜🇨🇦
I made some after watching your video how to make it. Told my husband it was about time to strain it. Thanks for the info on dosing. Do you refrigerate it after straining? I didn't catch that if you said. 😊
@@TheHoneystead What's funny about this, is I just ordered a tomato strainer yesterday to finish up the tomatoes I harvested that are still in my freezer - LOL. And I don't own a juicer either - HAHA.
Sorry, I want to ask if it would be OK to add some of the medicinal herbs into my firecider ? I did use rosemary, oregano, & curly parsley in my 1st batch.
Girl you're awesome. You have inspired me making my own tinctures now..hoping I can start a channel and sell.some. this is my passion along with Reiki and all that stuff . Tired of working 40hours a week doing something I hate. Thank you. Also I live in Maine do you have any experience with chaga?
I actually made some of this a couple of months ago and have yet to strain it, I thought you mentioned needing to ‘burp’ it, but mine doesn’t seem to need it, did I do it wrong or am I wrong in thinking it does ferment?
I've got a question regarding how to make a duel extraction with Lions Mane mushrooms. Anyone who has ANY info or advice on this I welcome with open arms! I suddenly find myself with a large amount fresh Lions Mane!! (almost 3 pounds!!!) Such a problem to have!! I've also I've never made a dual extraction before. In my research I've heard people say it doesn't matter which extraction you make first, the water based, or the alcohol based. However, I noticed that each person then decides to dry the mushroom, and do the alcohol based extraction first. My big question is why don't more people do the water extraction first? Here's my thought process: The fresh mushroom already has a lot of water in it, so it just seems logical to me to skip the drying process, and make the water extraction first. Yet, I don't see anyone doing this... Am I missing some information as to why the alcohol tincture is made first instead of the water version?
I’ve been taught both ways. However there is evidence that water based first then alcohol offers greater medicinal properties. Look up Christopher Hobbs book in my herbalism books link in the description. I went to his lecture and he said water first, but he did say that if it’s in alcohol then it will be ok. I mainly started with alcohol until he educated me on this topic!
@The Honeystead AWESOME! That's just what I was thinking... Why NOT take advantage of the mushroom's already watery nature first?! Thank for the input, I will look into that book.
Hi Kaylee, do you add honey and then place the cider in the jar? Would it keep longer in the fridge, after adding the honey? I have a couple of batches that I will be processing soon. I was curious.
I've followed your recipe and we're on a second round of two 1/2 gallon batches. I actually really like it. The smell reminds me of relish lol I do like it more with honey but It's just a little spicier without it. 😁 PS my hubby who's skeptical of it actually ASKED ME to give him some and took it daily till he felt better. 😊

I put mine in the fridge after straining it. How long will it keep when refrigerated?
I think it will keep for a year, but I have a feeling it will be gone in 6 months with all my people using it!
