- In this video I cover Nioh 2 Dream of the Wise tips and tricks. This video is aimed at a starter guide for Nioh 2 to help people get started in Dream of the Wise (DotW).
In the video I cover what level you can start Dream of the Wise, how to rework your character stats again and things to consider in terms of new ethereal loot.

One more tip: actually use the stone of penance. If your build isn't focused on luck it's a lifesaver for getting ethereals to drop. The upgraded accessory is just a nice bonus tbh

I like your approach to the game, more down to earth than some other youtubers on Nioh 2. To achieve/ grind these mega builds is just too far for normal people who also have a normal life besides the game.
Thank you... I totally agree. I'm able to put a lot of time in to this (as I'm trying to make it the day job now), but I still have a little boy who I'm on duty with solo for half of my time.. So I totally get the real life restrictions!
@@Onos yeah man congrats on the little one. Already raised my kids, 18 and 15 now, and I'm single now... so though I work 40 hours, I don't have much else going on. I get why some don't have time to grind though
This was an issue with the first game as well. My playstyle is to get through the game with as much skill as I can, only grinding when absolutely needed. This led to long, intense boss fights where I take advantage of every damage window, and dodge every attack, and it's so good to play like that. Meanwhile, whenever I looked up videos on UA-cam, people were using maxed out gear with super optimized cheese builds and killing the bosses in 5 seconds, and the boss can't even DO anything! How is that fun? It's awful to watch.
Agreed! I feel lost like in the first game: I’ve cleared all the Way of the Strong/Demon but for the Wise missions... I totally need all this skills but don’t where to start. I’ve used hatchets up until now but...don’t know where to start.

Currently taking a tiny break from Nioh 2 for the Mortal Shell DLC. The grind is real in DotW.

Good tips overall, I also entered DotW at around 335. It honestly seems way easier than DotS did when first entering. Tip #10 is the key, sometimes you just gotta step back for a bit.

Hey, that take a break tip is really underated. Sometimes you have all you need to beat a wall, except for the mental resources.

I haven’t touched both dlcs yet coz I got burnt out...completed dotd and thought nah I’m not touching wise, then I realised the attribute cap goes up in wise so figured I’d do it...I’m currently way under levelled, trying to run through the main missions in the base game on wise but struggling a little but with these tips I reckon I have a clear view of what I need to do. Thank you, really appreciate this vid and glad to know legends like yourself go through the same shit as the rest of us😅.

The answer to all difficulties is onmyo magic. Fighting with full buffs vs no buffs is two different games.

I turned the game on to play the new dlc after quitting about 2 months ago, saw the level requirements and remembered my build was a versatility splitstaff build and forgot all the combos and just turned the game off again this made me wanna actually grind again thanks!

The mission where the kodoma ask you to find his brothers, do that one and roll gear with the sudamas.

I thought sudama's don't give plus value on gear? Kinda like revenants. Did they change it?
Creasy yeah they dont give plus values. But they take the pieces you drop and give you new ones.
So if you have a grace or star stats that dont work in the build you want to make, you can give them that piece of gear and hope the gear they give you will be what your looking for.
Heads up though, the gear they give you will be at plus 0 every time, so you'll have to upgrade it from scratch.
Dont give small sudamas charms, as theyll keep those. But if you give a big sudama two divine rarity charms he'll reroll the stats on the first one and keep the second one as payment. This is useful for trying to get star skills on your charms. Then upgrade that divine to ethereal through the stone of penance system.
And lastly, if you try giving him a ranged weapon you wont necessarily receive a ranged weapon in return, it could be a sword or hatchets etc.

Very useful about star parameters. PC-Nioh-veterans going through DotD now
Dotw is entirely possible if you’re underleveled, i don’t recommend to go above penitence level 5 though if not using a specialized build, as fights with be significantly longer and harder.
Semi unrelated but I freaking beat Enenra at +9 after 6 tries with my last quick change in that castle mission with Lady Osakabe, then got 1-shot almost instantly by a cannon when his room door disappeared lol, almost ragequit
Edit: I started Dotw at lvl 347 and am currently 417 at afterglow

The damage was definatelly your build. I used Otakemaru ability and ninjitsu feathers and Gozuki went down in 10 seconds.
Also clay bells are also very underated, having 3 cats on your side can not only stagger the bosses and enemies but gives you full anima every 10-15 seconds.

I actually burned out myself around two months ago but when I saw the new dlc I found my motivation back. Just finished the game I played in the meantime and go on again with Nioh 2 tomorrow.
I haven't finished Dream of the Demon yet but all that new stuff is pretty interesting. I guess I go get Ho-Oh guardian spirit fist since the healing skill sounds very useful to me. I hope it's not too much work to get it?
No it's easy to get... Just go through the new dlc story missions on any difficulty and you'll get it. Good luck on your playthrough

I was kind of done with the game back when it came out and I finished NG. I know that's not rally the way how most people play the game, but I thought I would just come back to the other difficulties when the DLCs come out. Well, I did now, and... that was a big mistake. I am so overwhelmed with everything, having nothing even closely resembling a build Didn't even start WotD yet, but this video was very informative, thank you.
I understand how you feel. Don't worry too much about your build. Honestly the one I'm using isn't even close to perfect.

Great video!! Picked up Wasteland 3 and have been running through it. It's fantastic. Once thats finished I'll be coming back to Nioh 2, and with renewed vigor hopefully!
That bonus tip is so underrated...I've often times found a boss or level much easier the next time around after I've taken a break from the game....

That explains part of it. Starting wotw at level 211 is my problem lol.
Good stuff, seems like TN has alleviated a lot of the grind that dlc1 brought with the transfer and lucky drop abilities. Excited to get back into Nioh 2 once I clear my current game

Another helpful video Onos👍. Do you think you can make some guides or impressions videos about the new fist weapon and the new guardian spirits? I haven't seen many videos about them.
Just an idea but maybe you could do a mini series of guides about the different weapons and spirits. I'm still having difficulty understanding the split staff lol.

I wasn’t under leveled. (Sorry. Nioh 2 was too fun. I never stopped.) but this new grind is much funner. Actually playing rather than scum saving. Is so rewarding. ^_^ I love it.
It's really not that much harder than dream of the demon. But the dojo missions are pain😂

I wasn’t under level when I started. I was level 400 and had about 3 billion Amrita. Which wasn’t much.
Once I got a Wise scroll I put Ethereal drop A on it. I was also running sanctity+soul core box. Which they patched.
I feel like I am in a good place now. Need better accessories but Dream of Wise is a grinder. I prefer rng drops to save scumming. Getting a suzano setup was easier than doing a Benz build for DotD.
For fists I would consider doing Ultimate Courage and then remodel the strength for courage or constitution. I did 200 constitution and 200 courage. You need Ki and you need Health.

@@Onos one other thing as soon as you have the damage in your weapons. Remodel your fists to claws. Farm Hayabusa for Tiger Claws. The ability is soooo fun. Endless chain of dashing slicing up humans.
@@OD91MJ yeah I've got the skill... Its awesome... But I need the fists I'm using right now as they have purity imbued! If I pick up some claws along the journey which have purity u may switch things up a bit
@@Onos No all you do is refashion them. You can change them to claw that way then use the ability.

good tips, I had like 5 billion amrita so I leveled up to 425... now it takes forever to level lol.

I agree the new DLC levels can be a bit tough but this is a vast improvement from the last DLC. I was honestly was not expecting as much depth on this DLC then it has.

I'm in with Hayabusa set and it's really hard. Every enemy is 1 or 2 shot you . But it's fun.. getting better gear and maybe will rush way of the demon with new gear. Most annoying thing at boss fights are the step backwards especially when I want to do the long Combo with fists,....

Another tip. I made this mistake because I wasnt paying attention.
If you have a divine item with a transfer grace ability on it, dont use it to soul match with your shiney new ethereal gear as it will replace the ethereal grace you have on it. ( unless you want that divine grace of course).
I wrecked a really good switchglaive doing this and I've been kicking myself ever since.
sorry about losing the Yasakani, I almost did the same mistake. And one more thing I noticed the Sudama in the DotD cannot reroll the stats on the Ethreal accessory, and also they eat two of my Yasakani.

Would you consider weapon and/or skill breakdowns at all? Some of the skills are quite substantially better than others for ki or health (or in general), whule i more or less know which are ideal now its the sort of thing I'd have found handy early on where to spend my points and for forming synagised loadouts

5:00 yeah but who cares about sets at this difficulty ? You most definitely want to aim for graces. Unless you want to stack some of the nicer fixed bonuses on equipment like elemental damage taken (looking at you otakemaru). Of course if you are running SotC build, in addition to active skill damage graces you wanna pick Master Swordsman Power 2pcs for that extra SotN damage. Or maybe you want an ethereal version of the kodama bowl for the later gear grinding. But other than that, sets are just outclassed by graces at this point

Nice to know that you can go in underleveled like in Nioh 1 but personally, I'll grind out to at least 420-450 to stay on the safe side then the real grind can begin 😂😭

Currently I'm level 413 and I just beat the third region so that means the next main mission will be like level 435 or more. While I may be underleveled I have some good gear to help boost my damage and defence enough to not die in like 2 hits.
What is that attack you used at @4:45 where you use the yokai slaying blade?
I think its a talisman.. The last boss on the second DLC or first iirc

I stopped playing before the first dlc because I wanted to wait for ethereal gear to come back and this save scum nerf is gonna make getting a build to go through demon soooo much more annoying

I got fed up with with everything after ng++, one side mission had two human bosses that blocked everything I did and then just hit straight through my block, wtf? I play a few hours a week, that shits just fucking infuriating
Yeah I'm in Wise, and I completely skipped every Duel mission in the last two sections because fuck that. They have unlimited ki, instant Ki regeneration, and they fucking block everything. In Wise, my amazing set of full Divine i spent days soul matching to get inheritables and +20 feels fucking useless now. Full Versatility stacks, buffs, debuffs on the boss, Confusion....and it still takes forever to kill the FIRST BOSS.
And the cherry on top is hearing all these people imply that you should just "rush through" all of the difficulties leading up to DotNioh 😂. Oh ok, lemme just real quick blast through 400 hours of content lol
Hey what up bro you should do a quick video farming video. The level "The brother's blade" drops alot of great leveling equipment such as Cruxidian shards(2) when completed, once the chance of Cruxidian crystals and mortal soul cores. Super quick level, 💪hope these helps the channel Bushido!

I'm actually confused as to why people run these difficulties in the first place. Is it fun to grind the same stages on repeat? I like nioh 1 and 2 but I can't stomach multiple playthroughs and I'm not sure why others do.
@Zwei It's just preference. Some people truly enjoy running, for the most part, the same missions; they love finding new gear; they love tuning their builds to the finest degree they can.
Like the person said above me, there's even greater incentives to redo missions at higher difficulties - better gear, items, etc. Plus, as a fan of the game and the combat mechanics (especially this), re-running the missions never gets old.
As far as gridding out levels go, it seems l get tons of amrita and jump up levels very quickly just doing demon scroll missions in co op. I just started doing it, so I don't know if it's just that I'm only around level 200 and that's why I'm gaining so much, but I grinded these missions for about an hour yesterday and got enough amrita for eight levels.

Did they make the game easier than before because I entered DOT Wise at level 260 and also beat first main mission. I just use splitstaff build with ryomen sukuna for confusion and toyotomi clan+extraction talismans for heals.
I know it may sound stupid,but I finished the story missions on dream of the strong(the second difficulty you reach after finishing the game) and I don't know how to unlock dream of the wise. Perhaps, should i complete the entire game AGAIN?
For equipment farming I always go to Imagawa Diehard's. :P
Is there a damage cap for ninjutsu or is there a way to level up damage beyonde 99 dex or reroll skills?
Jesus... I was level 240 when i killed DotD otakemaru.....I'd have been a lot more set up for DotW if I was 300+ update to this at the end of 2023. You forgot to mention how rare the rarity inheritence is. I've had at this point thousands of etheral gear. and I've only been able to have my gear inherit the etheral rarity twice
Hey man, how are you able to fill every single row on your gear like at 2:20? Every piece of gear I find/craft usually has 2 empty rows.
If you take a look in my nioh guides playlist (or maybe in the Nioh 2 build crafting list) you should find a video on "Inheritables"... Also maybe check out my original "new game plus" video in the same playlist... That should help you out... There is a way to transfer some stats from one armor piece to another)... Hope that helps.

I just did the blossom mission with level 280 so that is possible too. Using fist weapons and some brave Demon hunter set. All around +15. Should I replace the set with random ethereals now?

Hey dude. I may end up streaming eventually.... The reason I don't so it much is because the ps4 will only allow for 720p and the face camera is REALLY bad! If I ever get my hands on a ps5 I'll proba ly do much more streaming

If I were you, I'd skip the dlc content and ggo try out the first mission on the next difficulty up... I personally found that much easier than taking on the DLC

Juist don't download patch 1.18 and use the soul core box exploit to cheese everything and farm your sets.
