I seen that in your Sushi Mukbangs that people say that Ariel shouldn't be using his hands to eat it. I wanted to inform people (from experience as I have Japanese friends and ancestry and i have a knack for extensive research) that it is actually quite proper to use your hands to eat Sushi. It is also acceptable to use chopsticks but if you enter Japan, one: they'll make fun of you for using chopsticks and two: in the event you enter a upscale Sushi restaurant there will be no chopsticks in sight and if you ask for them you get snickered at. For certain rolls its much easier to use hands to pick up and eat, and as for Ariel using training chopsticks, one of my friends (19) uses the same type of thing so i believe you are completely normal, take your time learning how to use chopsticks because if you rush it gets frustrating.

That's weird because I watched Simon and Martina go to the two top sushi chefs in Japan and they were given chopsticks.
hmmm so this is what my girlfriend and I's future looks like lol
when ariel uses the chopstick trainer you should still remind him to use the right hand position so he'll get used to it better :)
You know what the "right way" to use chopsticks is? The way your hand feels comfortable in picking up the food, regardless of rules. It's like writing, each of us settles in to holding a pen the way our hands need to regardless of how a teacher might try to train you.
You guys should consider ordering regular sushi (not rolls). That's what you'll be getting in Japan! They're not big on sushi rolls.
Perhaps either the nigiri has too much raw ikura, tobiko, ika, tako, hamachi, toro, uni, ebi, kani and might be way to much raw or exotic seafood for their liking. Their ahi is spiced but not very big portioned. It is admittedly 2~3 times more expensive, per nigiri, as well. They are 3 big eaters. Where I live, 2 big trays of nigiri would cost upwards of $100.00~$140.00 per tray.
+fattymoko Good point, it would get pricey. Where I live it's usually about $2.50/2 pieces but for the amount they consume I'm sure that would add up pretty fast. They should switch it up though, maybe get a few pieces per tray.
