      It's funny how in the video, to me at least, it just feels slower than it actually was. You feel like you're flying. I was hoping I might see 70 out of it... but 65 can hurt you plenty quick if something goes south...

    Well, that brought back memories, for I owned a 1985 350X for a decade and sold it in the mid 90's. When it was new, we clocked it on pavement at 73 mph, but after break-in and a couple of months, it would run 75-76 mph with high inflated tires. Granted, I was only 160# then, but wow, would that machine run for a trike. I was a dirt and street bike guy, but living in the rural countryside, I rode the X far more often than my bikes and traveled untold thousands of miles. The best summer I ever spent was in my late 20's and with several friends riding ATV's in 1986 and with the 350 X. For that summer, we rode 3-4 days a week exploring several counties, forests, lakes, trails, country roads, etc.
    Thanks for the flash back memories and the sound of the X again in my ears.

    Ok Preston ok, now I want a 350X. What a great machine ! Back in those days, I was into Honda XL’s. They are great too !! Good stuff buddy ! Beautiful country too !

    I had a 350x until I sold it in 2013, I had bought it new. Some of the best riding was on frozen rivers In Wisconsin. Nothing like carving the turns in the river and shooting up the banks to go around fallen trees. Bad knees made me sell it to a friend, I tried riding two years ago and I could no longer bend my left knee enough to shift it. Next year I will have that knee replaced, then they will both be done. after rehab I will see if my buddy will let me try to take it for spin.

      @@ThisOldTrike We enjoy all of them. Have watched many of them multiple times just to learn the differences between the years. My buddy doesnt even have a 3 wheeler but still enjoys them. My 12 yr old son and i were trying to iron out the jetting on my 85R this past weekend. I took the seat/rear fender off and he says “hey did you know these are maier fenders”. I knew exactly where he learned that from.

    Are you running 10w40 semi-synthetic oil?? I wouldn't run full synthetic in 30yr old machines. Tho semi-syn is perfect & flows /protects better. Ethanol in premium unleaded doesn't freeze. I live in Ohio gets chilly too for few mos tho climate is changing!

    Beautiful Machine, and A great Day for A ride!
    Quick question, how many Discs are you using on the supertrap?
    I have one for my "91 Honda 250X, and it has been so long ago that I used it last, I kinda forgot. Yours does not seem to be to Loud.

    • @ThisOldTrike
      @ThisOldTrike  2 роки тому

      Good question, I'll have to check! Mine seems to be pleasantly loud... and by that I mean it's deep and throaty... not harsh and cracky like a DG is.

  • @Trikekid84
    @Trikekid84 2 роки тому

    1984 200x, DG exhaust, 28mm flat slide, 10.25:1 comp, ported head, 13/40 gearing, 20" tires, I can go 53mph in 800 feet. Wondering what it can do on a long stretch but its just about done accelerating. I know it helps that you have a 2nd gen with the 6 speed, vs my 5 speed. That's more than 10mph faster than mine though and that's pretty fast for a trike!

      My 350X has a 400EX carb on it. I'm not really looking to to go faster or do any further mods on this machine. I've got other options if I want to go fast.... I might consider dropping a tooth on the rear sprocket one of these days.

      I hear ya there! I was blown away by how much of an issue this machine was giving me this day. It was 1 degree out though... so I think the temperature was playing a huge part with the issues I was having. You'll see in my recent SNIRT video, this thing didn't give me any trouble.

Ha ha Carbs on a hopped up two stroke in the cold sometimes can be fun as well. Really enjoyed the fuel injection on the Raptor 700’s my brother and I had even if it doesn’t get that cold in GA.

    I drain the carb on my stuff before I try to start it after the sit all winter, gas isn't what it use to be. When I was at the dealership a klr650 would kill the battery and not start after a month unless I drained the carb.

      I use ethanol free gas in all my machines. A local chain of gas stations sells it here. I try to either run them dry before storage or drain the bowls, but I'm not very good at remembering to do it.
