Great instructions! You saved this newb a couple hundred bucks for sure changing out my Journey thermostat. I can't tell you how many times I cursed that bottom 10mm nut though! :)
I just re-watched this video as I thought we did do just that but I guess not. To bleed the air out you just loosen the screw plug at the top of thermostat housing until you no longer get any air bubbles. In our case it worked without doing that. Thanks for watching and commenting!
No fluctuations as you mentioned, just ran cooler than normal overall. I’d make sure coolant levels are good, fans working correctly, etc. could have air in the cooling system as well. I’m no mechanic by any means, may want to go make a visit with one tho.
@WeDidSomething thanks, helping me narrow it down. Can't afford a mechanic right now. Leaning more towards air trapped somewhere. May try to bleed it myself

LOL @ the 10mm nut. Glad the video was helpful!
Thank you for the video.. I replaced mine myself with your help..
Glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching!
Great video. I just helped my son switch his out. Thanks for the help.
Very happy that it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Great video, thanks for showing the process. I'm currently trying to change mine because it has been overheating.
It’s fairly easy and hopefully that takes care of the overheating issue. Let’s us know if that solved the problem. Thanks for watching!
Awesome! Doing mine tomorrow
It’s a pretty simple job, good luck and thanks for watching!
Would I have to bleed the thermostat to get the air out or is it fine without?
It would be a good idea, however I did not in ours and it turned out fine.
Is that a regular wrench that you used to pinch the hose clamp?
Yes, just a pair of channellock pliers.
Thanks for the video I have same car but smaller engine…. 2.4
How come you didn't bleed the coolant?

Great!! Exactly what happened to my Journey.
At least it’s a pretty easy fix. Thanks for watching!
@@WeDidSomething I did want to ask, did you have to clear the code or did it clear itself after the test drive?
If I remember correctly I cleared the code myself. It should clear on its own eventually or you can probably have it cleared at Autozone or the like.
Were you experiencing erratic temo changes too? Mine will get really hot when stopped and idling, then it cools down when you get going.

We have the exact car with the exact issue, I’m using this video later to fix it
It’s not very difficult to change out and good luck! Have any questions feel free to ask! Thanks for watching.
