The fact that there's actually comedy and humor in the post makes me happier than anything else. It means someone creative and cool is actually there working on tf2, even if the community does all of the heavy lifting

Yeah. One thing I love about those tf2 messages is that they are always made in this sarcastic quiply tone that I love. It makes it so I can read the tf2 balance chabges and find it FUN.

I have the biggest smile on my face right now watching all these TF2 (and non-TF2) content creators talking about this. I am so genuinely excited because this will be my first major update in TF2 I get to experience, and the same can be said for many other TF2 players! Just remember to keep your expectations in line and give Valve and their employees respect for the work they are doing for us.
I feel like they could combine Frontline with a heavy update, the whole war theme is ideal for a dude who literally walks around with a minigun
I'm super excited about the idea of an update, but I feel like Joey is way way to invested into the idea of it being the heavy update.
I think they might give the heavy something but it won't be a whole theme for it.
Haven't watched this video yet, but tbh, I'm expecting the usual cosmetic update, just with the addition of maps. Cool tho.

This is fantastic to hear. And just as I got back to playing TF2 too. Hopefully we get big things in it. Like new weapons and stuff. Maybe hoping for Mann vs Machine to get an update too. But whatever this update is, I can't wait to see what happens.

I've been waiting so long and finally reading something official... Honestly brought me to fucking tears. This game is how I met my closest friends, it's still my favorite game. When this update launches it will probably be the only game me and all my friends play for a couple months.

This is so exciting! I've been playing tf2 for less than a year and I have never gotten the experience of witnessing a major update drop and can't wait to see actual communication from valve and see actual new items that nobody's seen before

For anyone wondering, valve updated the blog and changed the wording. Basically, this will be like a normal summer update, but now with warpaints and maps.
6 years ah! I started playing 1.5 years ago and already have 1.1k hours in this fantastic game. I love team fortress and ik a lot of people also do. Well my point is.. i never experienced a major update and the hype of that. I’m really excited to finally be here experiencing something big!!

Unfortunately, they went back on their word. The blog post has been updated to say "holiday sized update" instead of "full-on sized update." Not cool valve :/

I would love to see un used weapons or weapons from TF Classic finally make it into the game. Like the Scout's nail gun and the Tranquilizer.
I'm REALLY looking forward to this major update! I really REALLY hope Heavy finally get his update and he'll have new and unique weapons that gives him more variety and some new playstyles so many people will play as him again and won't call him "boring" anymore.

TF2's hype train long thought dormant now screeches to life with a vigor long since forgotten, the entire world can hear it's whistle now.
The time has come brothers and sisters, go forth and create magnificent works, the opportunity of a lifetime is at hand.
Fingers crossed for balance changes to existing weapons as well(though unlikely as there was no mention of that possibility). Regardless, this announcement is very exciting and some good community content will come for sure.
UEAKCrash started working on his Frontline map again before attempting to talk to Valve about a major update. My guess would be something similar to the Frontline theme for this Summer update, but not Frontline proper. Be prepared for TANKS!

Didn't anyone remember that in the TF2 channel in UA-cam shown I think in 2016 where they were going to release the engineer update but but I wouldn't mind out at all because I can't wait for what Major update we're going to get

Like I guess they don't want it to be a holiday/summer themed update.
If they nail this, if it's well received and actually brings them a lot of money, there's a good possibility that we may go back to regular major updates. If Valve themselves don't want to make the updates, hiring a third party to do it (like they're doing now, as far as I understand)would be feasible if the updates are quality and lucrative. We can only hope.

Valve has confirmed that this is real and that they are asking the community workshop to make items , taunts hats , maps , war paints and even better. That added people to the office to work on the game.

Hey Joey, what do you think about getting the Female Mercs in as a “Cosmetic set” I mean, if valve wants us to do it, Might as well Go Big or Go Home. Use the models/ concepts valve didn’t use, and community voice packs for the female mercs, like the FemScout.
