Somebody said long ago “If you’re not sure which Beatle is singing…it’s George.”
That's very true!
I thought I invented that saying!
And for new Beatles fans it’s prob Paul bc dude has like a billion different voices
I don't get it, it was so clearly George.
True
Maybe you could do a Beatles quiz where you guess the song from the Beatles talking about the song in an interview but not naming it.
That would be a good one. Lennon trashed many classic Beatles tunes including the medley at the end of Abby Road.
I'm proud of the fact that my four year old daughter scored six and half on this quiz. She confidently recognized Drive My Car, Norwegian Wood, I Wanna Hold Your Hand (even named her preferred German version "Komm gib mir deine Hand" first! 😅), Taxman, I'm Looking Through You and You've Got to Hide Your Love Away. After "don't need no" she readily supplied "other lover" but then she hesitated and I had to provide her with a bit of the following melody, upon which she caught on and named Something.
New generation of Beatlemaniacs in the making! 🎉
Sounds like your 4 year old is a fan of Rubber Soul
That's amazing
This makes me so happy!
I managed to get them all...but then again I've been listening to them since a month after my birth in 1967, when Sgt Pepper came out. My uncle, who was ten at the time, played it constantly for well over a year. I think it's the first album I remember hearing and knowing who it was by. When I was less than two years old, the bit in "A Day In The Life" where John sings, "he didn't notice that the lights had changed" creeped me out, along with "and of course Henry The Horse dances the waltz" followed by the swirling carnival music made me a little scared. I'm 56 years old, and those memories and songs are seared into my memory, which, to me, shows that either I've been an oddball since birth, or that The Beatles created songs that resonate through the ages...or both. Either way, I'm so lucky to have be able to enjoy them my entire life.
I totally relate! Born in 1965. I’ve heard Beatles music literally my whole life.
15/15, personally had a much easier time recognising isolated vocal snippets than I had with the instrumentals
14/15. I hadn’t thought I was vocals-focused but I suppose we all are really.
The one I missed was ‘Dear Prudence’ which should have been one of the easiest.
@@robertcottam8824confess, you didn't remember 'tomorrow never knows'

Pip pip😂
I also got a perfect score but I grew up with the Beatles (not literally as neighbours, but remember them first becoming famous and getting every one of their singles and albums as they were released) I can't understand how the youngster in the video knows them so well. He's obviously nowhere near as old as me..
@@KenFullman I know right? The kid did better then me and I was literally raised by Beatles music from their 1st album to their last. My mom taught me how to read using the Sgt. Peppers album cover and Beatles illustrated book. My mom actually dated the artist that wrote that book. Alan Aldridge.
I did so much better at this than I do on the instrumental quizzes. Those were impossible for me. I guess it shows how focused I am on vocals. I think it also helped that a lot of the examples were from Rubber Soul and later. I'm terrible with their earlier work.
Do you play any music? I'm guessing you don't, or maybe just started. It must be much harder for someone that doesn't. I found the bass one the toughest. I do play bass, but only as a filler.
When it comes to vocals, we are all singers in our heads unless you are listening to an unknown language so I think most people would find this the easiest out of the series.
@@tannakaobi1 I've played music for over 30 years.
@@rome8180 Fair enough, of course the biggest component is how much you listen to The Beatles and, or play their music.
I stick by what I said though, it's much easier to recognize lyrics in the most part, I think that's true even for musicians. A lot of the time even if you just had the words you could figure the song out without any sound.
@@tannakaobi1 I play bass and I found that bass one quite hard. Mainly because in a lot of beatles songs, mainly the beatlemania stuff, the bass is lost in the mixes.
There is far, far more information in a vocal clip than a musical clip, not least of which is the ultimate information content, words. Plus, humans are more oriented to language than tones in the way a dog is more oriented to scent than vision.
I did 14/15!!! This was definitely easier than the instrument ones for me
I'm so proud 🥳❤️
Which did you miss?
@@bobma6342 Back in the USSR, I couldn't remember it in time 😅
Same, 14/15; Just couldn't quite pull out the words after the played part for #14, You've Got To Hide (etc.)... This was much easier than the previous quizzes where I only got about 75%.
Well done! Wow there were some really hard ones there! I'm amazed! Funny I got back in the USSR - but was almost certain it was Helter Skelter at first. Well done again 🙂
@@TheOddOne2 thank you! It's funny because Paul is my favorite Beatle, but I couldn't recognize his voice in that part of "Back in the USSR" 😅
David, it's so interesting how different people hear music. When you did other Beatles testing - I was surprised how you could guess most of it. For this one it was opposite - I was surprised how you couldn't get "Something" for example. I know I'm super focused on melody and intonations and voice expressions, so for me this test was super easy. I guess we all hear music differently..
My first 100% on one of these! And honestly, they all came to me extremely easily. I think that probably reflects on how I listen to the Beatles (and pop music), I'm very lyrics-focused and I've sung every Beatles song so much, all of these just made my brain fill in the rest of the lyrics immediately. Whereas the ones where it's mostly instrumental elements, often will sound so familiar but I have a hard time fitting to a larger song, whereas David will be like "OH! OBVIOUSLY!"
Same here.. easiest quiz for me
Same here, my first max score 😎
I got them all, too. It was much easier for me than the ones where you hear the rhythm instruments because I've never thought about playing any of these songs and I am not a musician.
Me too !!
Sameee!!
It surprises me that david has a more difficult time guessing the songs with a vocal track than a bass
Same with me. Probably because I am a bass and guitar player and not a singer.
15/15 - first time I got all of them right. Glad I’m listening to more of The Beatles. I used to skip “I’m Looking Through You” but now I absolutely adore it!
I would highly recommend the Anthology version - completely reimagines the song’s genre 🧡
That song's a hidden gem, even with the recording anomolies!
This was a fun video - but not as much as I had two weeks ago, seeing many Beatles songs performed live by ... a Beatle! Paul McCartney in concert - unforgettable!
Fifty years after they split up, and their music continues to find its way into our lives in so many unusual ways like this ❤️
Also to think they just released a song and it went viral right away. They are still as popular as ever and rightfully so. It also is amazing that each member can and has fronted successful bands/projects post Beatles. That makes them ultra rare.
What strikes me is just how different all their songs are from each other. For instance, even if you just listen to clips from their psychedelic songs, those songs don't sound alike. It's almost as if they never used the same technique or effect twice, yet albums like Revolver and Sgt Pepper sound cohesive.
Greetings from Sydney, Australia. David, I want to thank you for your videos on UA-cam. Your knowledge and insight are valuable and impressive. I am 63 and an ardent Beatles and Wings fan and avid collector of their records.
Hey David, love all your Beatles song quizzes, I wanted to suggest that you could do one based off of clips of instrumental solos within Beatles songs!
cool Idea!! 15/15 please do more of this
14/15, only missed "I Want to Hold Your Hand." First time I've ever outperformed David on one of these--made my day!
How did you miss that, especially when David gave an extra clue! It was one of the few I got. I don't bother counting, I don't want to know how bad I am at these, but I got about half.
However ... Well done with 14 ... awesome!
Clean sweep! Loving those. Thank you for all your work. Great channel
Thanks!
Just want to say that these videos are the highlight of my day whenever you post them. It’s become a sort of tradition for my mom and me to watch them together and play along - we get so excited whenever there’s a new one! Love the format, keep it up :)
Great video as usual
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
I love these Beatles quizzes. I’m proud to say I got all of them quite easily.
Yeah, a bit too easy for me. I'm 70years old.
Best band of all time.
I think this is the first one of your quizzes where I got every single one! Nice video :)
I have finally subscribed. Thanx for the trip down memory lane.
I thought this would be my first quiz I got 100% on but I missed the last two! Great video.
My first 15/15 on one of these quizzes! I sure thought it would've been the bass one, I love Paul's basslines, but those vocals sure are distinct
First time I've gotten a 100% on one of your quizzes. Keep it up, your content is amazing!
I remember your quiz. I am excited by this new one!
This turned out to be trickier than I expected. I thought for sure vocals would make it plainly obvious, but there were some good clips of more obscure parts of the song to increase the challenge
I did 12/15 as you . Some songs trick me , but i definitely had a better score than another "isolated" challenges 😂
Same 12/15 and a lot a better than I usually do on these
Same
13/15. Much better than the other Beatles quizzes you post. Boned it on Dear Prudence and I'm Looking Through You.
That was a lot of fun. Thank you for that. Ps your Beatles content is fab
14/15. Only confused "Drive My Car" with "Ticket to Ride" like you did. Got all the rest! You should do another Beatles isolated instrument quiz as their songs are so interestingly layered and those are definitely more challenging! Haha
I had those two confused for a second too. Had to go through Ticket To Ride in my head to remember that it didn't have that lyric.
Jimmy fallons used his idea
Bennet : lemme show how it's actually done
Same as you. Love these. Thanks 🙏🏼
I love your Beatle song quizzes.
Always loved your Beatles quiz series. But I'm wondering who is the guy in the background who prepares the questions for you?
That’s David Hartley my editor 😊 his channel is linked in the description if you want to see more of his work 😌
@@DavidBennettPiano THX, mate. I will check out his channel. Hats off to him and please keep up your wonderful work!
This was one of the easier quizzes so far! I got most of the first 12 almost immediately. Had some trouble on the last few!
I saw that Jimmy Fallon copied your video premise. 😂 I guess imitation is the highest form of flattery. 😁
I severely doubt that Jimmy Fallon copied the video idea. The idea of guessing songs from small snippets of audio isn't exactly a novel idea - I remember having kahoot quizzes back in year 7 with this very idea which was way before David did his first beatles quiz video. Simply putting a beatles skin onto the idea doesn't make it yours.
@@Thalwegpoint is it was exactly the same. Not just a *short* clip, but a 2s clip. Exactly the same.
@@ThalwegRight? Imagine using such an unoriginal idea and thinking you came up with it, then having the gall to think someone copied you 😆
First ever quiz from your channel I got 100%!
Although I will admit your singing for "I Want To Hold Your Hand" helped me where if I hadn't heard that I wouldn't have gotten it.
Well done though! Lotta fun.
That was fun and harder than I thought.. Thank You!
Man. 14/15. I’m really upset at myself. I forgot the title of Tomorrow Never Knows, even though I recognized the clip and sang the whole song over and over and couldn’t remember the name haha.
Good quiz. A lot easier than the others you’ve done recently.
EXACTLY THE SAME WITH ME I’m going to go all day disappointed with myself 😂 14/15 not bad but not good
I got no. 4 easy, It is my fav from that period to be fair and actually the reason I got into The Beatles! You beat me handsomely overall tho,
As teenagers we used to play many variations of these queries before we fell asleep at night. We used to sing them ourselves. That is the fun of sharing a room with your sisters. That was at least 45 years ago. And yes, we played mostly with Beatles song.
Definitely a PB 15/15. Be assured I’ve done some of your other Beatles quizzes and have fallen off. Loving the challenge.
I recognized every one of them but my downfall was just not coming up with the song names, so my score ended up no better than the instrumental quizzes, lol. Also, I don't think Peter Jackson's technology was used for isolating the vocals - a few of the samples sounded really strange to me. Anyway this was really fun as usual!
Here's an interesting idea: do another isolated vocals quiz like this one bc it seems to be easier for most ppl, but you have to name the *next* song on the album. Ig for some songs you'd have to specify which album. But so many of us have worn out albums listening over & over that we automatically start singing the next song on the record. Might be really hard for the Gen z kids who only listen to their digital playlists 😅
Problem there . The UK ,and most other countries have 14 songs . Hence the order is much different. I’m referring to songs before Pepper when Capitol records were forced to use the UK track listing sans MMT …
13/15! I never thought I'd score better than you! That was fun!
12/15 Best Quiz !!! Thanks a lot
Did you get the idea of the video because of all the recent theories and opinions on John's vocals on Now And Then perhaps?😉
What theories?
@@gorgolyt that it was "made with AI". But in reality this sort of technology has existed for years.
@@spelunkymonke Well, those "theories" are completely baseless and disprovable, since if you listen to the demo the vocals are the same. Most people who think it was made with AI just read a headline such as "Beatles make new song with help from AI" and didn't look further into it.
@@MossW268 that's what I'm saying😁
Cool idea. I'll have to point Mike Portnoy at this. He loves quizzes about Beatles songs! He'd probably want shorter clips. 🙂
Thanks! Mike Portnoy actually played one of my previous Beatles quizzes 😊
I definitely found the 2 sec clip length made it too easy!
15 out of 15. Looks like living 70 years finally paid off.
Your Beatles quizzes are my favorite part of he Internet, and I finally got a 100! 🎉 For a future idea, could you isolate background vocals?
Wow, a lot of people got full marks on this one, while I only got 8/15! At least I was over 50% 😅
I confess I rarely pay attention to the lyrics in music though, and I was surprised that David dropped a few songs that were really easy for me, considering he knows Beatles lyrics much better than I do!

15/15...to me, that was really easy! Surprised at you dropping 3, David!
15/15 for me. This one was much easier for me than the instrumental quizzes. Thanks for doing another one!
14/15 - I thought I was gonna sweep this one but I missed You've Got to Hide Your Love Away which really hurt because it's one of my favorites. Great video!
Really enjoyed this, and I redeemed myself from the previous quizzes and got a stonking 15/15! 😀
Got them all right for the 1st time! Great quizzez altogether
15/15. Yay! Good one, David!
Absolutely loved that! Thank you! I did bad, but got a good many!
Man you were so good but the last one you blew it but still it was Very entertaining to watch and I will certainly subscribe mate.
13/15, best i’ve done on one of these before. got 12 in a row - in my life and looking through you tripped me up but managed to get something at the end
13/15, way better than I usually do for these!
full marks! perhaps because I'm more a singer lyricist, I sailed through these easier than the other quizzes you've done
I missed 4, but I did get the 3 you missed and that’s a first on these quizzes. Your knowledge of their songs is amazing.
Each & every time you listen to The Beatles you hear & learn something you didn't know preciously. More showmanship in a single 2 second clip them most musicians can muster in a lifetime. These Boys penned the Hymns of 20th Century. Their music is clinically proven to put a smile on your face & have you singing along in under 5 minutes flat.
I love your channel.
Nice quiz. 100%. Thanks 🙂
100% for me, great quiz, loved it ❤❤
I got all of them, although Dear Prudence took me a solid minute of rolling around in my head to pinpoint it. I think this one was by far the easiest both because we’re so intrinsically in tune with the human voice, and because the list was almost all big hits or highly recognizable album tracks.
Thank you for another great BeaTles trivia video David. My personal best ever : 15/15 🏆 yeeehhhhh .
I love those quizzes.
This was my first 100% on one of your quizzes, ever.
15/15 ! Vocals are definitely easier to guess. Love the outro btw, hadn't noticed until now
Remarkable I picked up the songs you had issue with immediately, while dropping others hard. Helps i just listened to rubber soul and abbey road today.
I love my progress in these videos, I used to only get one or two right max, but now I can easily get them all!
15/15
I FINALLY DID IT. THE YEARS OF BELTING OUT THE LYRICS WHENEVER I LISTEN PAYS OFF.
Glory
15/15! I was really surprised when you said it was definitely Paul singing on Drive My Car, and then guessed Ticket To Ride😂
15/15. :) Was a little bit easy for me, but I really enjoyed - a really nice idea and video! :)
15/15 100%. I love it when you said, "Yeah, yeah, yeah" in response to getting one!
This was definitely the easiest of the Beatles quizzes you've done, I had all these immediately, where as other quizzes I had to think a little bit and missed some.
yes! another 100% here. I´m pretty sure I´m far away of being the biggest Beatle fan out there, but at 17 I knew each Beatle song lyric, I could play most tunes on guitar, I memorized each and every album track order, etc. I´m 59 now but still got It in some way. I have fun with my sons whenever we are listening any Beatles album and at the end of any song I can sing the beginning of the next at any time :)
14/15 here. “In my life” got me. Fun video!
Got them all..yay me.. Been a fan since forever !!
This is the only challenge I’ve beaten you on! 13/15!
Same as you 12/15. Love these quizzes.
My first perfect score. I'm so happy I didn't disappoint you! 😊
This is the first time I scored higher than you did. I only got #14 wrong. I'm a singer & I do sing a lot of Beatles, so I'm actually surprised I got any wrong. Great videos!
For the first time I got full marks, but with a little help from you! I was struggling with #10, but as soon as you started humming to yourself, it was clear as day. So 14.5? Haha
If Jimmy runs this quiz in the near future, we'll know for sure he's a fan of yours!
15/15 Easiest one of your quizzes so far for me.
14 out of 15 (couldn't remember the title of "looking thru you"). This one was a lot easier than 2 second base line or drum track challenges.
How about a quiz about 2 second backwards sampling (or have you done that already?)
Or just an opening chord?
Or 2 seconds of a song slowed down/sped up?
A most interesting video, David. Keep them coming.
Perfect score!
I matched your score. Enjoyed much
This and the reversed Beatles clips are the only ones I got 100% on
100 percent, extremally easy for a die hard Beatles fan! Also I want to add that I saw this idea on your channel first. George was a tenor, Paul and John more Baritone.
Great concept 13/15
For a young man you did rather well. Congrats on 12 out of 15.
14, probably the best I've done on these quizzes. It's interesting with these vocal clips because even though there was one I didn't get listening to it in real time, I would have done given enough thinking time🙂.
That was fun. The ones you missed helped soothe my ego for the ones I missed.
