In this challenge I found tempo, key, and most of all bass line to be the biggest giveaways. If you can remember 5-6 notes of the reversed bass line and flip then back around in your head, it’s a dead giveaway for a lot of them. A testament to how unique Paul’s bass arrangements were.

13/15 for me. Great idea for a quiz! If David Hartley ever does this for you again, maybe one of the songs could be a bit of backmasked track (Rev 9, Rain, etc.). It would make that particular one easy to get, but would be a fun surprise to hear something sounding forwards in the middle of all these backwards clips.

15/15 but damn this was weird! I couldn't tell the name of each song based on the reversed recordings but it somehow recalled the actual song in my mind and after singing it to myself I could easily name them.
It's insane how recognisable each and every single one of their songs is. I don't consider a single Beatles track as bad or forgettable and they are the only band whose entire catalogue I can at least hum along. That's why they will always hold a special place in my heart and are surely one of the greatest bands of all time.

I think it would have been a lot harder had it focused on the first 3 albums. The mid and late Beatles had so many distinctive rhythms and textures and instrumentation that you can get a lot from that alone. And when you couldn't, there was still an "oooo la la la" that stands out in the background even in reverse and tells the tale. The only one I missed was Can't Buy Me Love (because: early)

15/15, yay! here's how i did on the ones David missed
#7 - Almost thought it was a different Revolver track, but noticed it was Paul singing here and not George.
#8 - The choice of song section was strange but once I heard those backing vocals they were unmistakable.
#12 - That infectious bassline works even in reverse
#13 - Just a matter of remembering which part of the Abbey Road Medley has that passage WITH lyrics.
#15 - It's okay David, some of the song titles blend together for me as well, especially with Rubber Soul cause that one's less hook-heavy and more storytelling.

I thought "oh, this one's from Rubber Soul/Let It Be, but I can't remember which one". When you can't actually tell which song it is, you get the pure, concentrated feeling of the album itself. Track 7 is from the time when Paul started experimenting with "misterious" clues to entertain superstitious people.
"I buried Paul" and "Turn me on, dead man" came later. But in 1966 the game was more innocent. He was thinking of palindromes, that's why he initially proposed REVOLOVER as the title for that album. He also started thinking of the USSR. Hence he seems to be singin in Russian when reversed. Добрый день, солнышко.

Hahaha you people do realize how sick we are of listening to these noises and recognizing almost all of the songs hahaha. Ive made 13 of 15. It was really fun! And...is it me or these reversed songs sound also great? They should publish them as a reversed beatles album collection hahaha
    I would definitely buy it.
They should name it SELTAEB EHT 😂

Every single one of those were extremely easy for me. But then again I've been listening to them all non-stop, inside and out, backwards and forwards, from 1964 onward. I got them all within seconds except for track number 12. That one I had to listen all the way through before I got it. There are definitely some distinctive characteristics that give it away. For example, vocal harmony isn't going to sound that unusual in reverse. Great upload!

jeez that was fun! 13 from 15 , missed one really obvious big early hit and was utterly convinced one mid period song was another. Harder than the one sec clips for sure. Thanks.

The `organ' sound in "Baby You're a Rich Man" was a Clavioline, an early synthesizer instrument.
I would love to own one!

It was fun playing along with you, because I ended up with the exact same score (10/15), but we got nearly all the different ones wrong! At one point, you had a perfect score and I had already missed three!

12/15 for me. This was a blast!! I was really impressed that you could pinpoint the albums on the songs you didnt get. I missed the first one but kicked myself after hearing it. Also missed 8 and 13. Same problem on 13 with me. But as soon as you played it forward I remembered which track, I thought it was a different. You've encouraged me to listen to ALL beatles songs backward. Regarding John sounding like Bob Dylan.... especially backward haha.

Great Video! I got full marks on the first listen. It's pretty easy thanks to the distinct instrumental sound of each song. I guess listening to the entire Beatles discography multiple times really gave me the edge.

I began listening to reverse music 50 years ago. I had a 4-track, ie 2x2 stereo reel-to-reel tape recorder. I discovered that if I twisted the tape and read the recording through the back, I could listen to the music backwards. As soon as I was able to record my own music, I loved using reverse guitars and drums.

It's fascinating how in reverse it's exactly the same amount of information, but our brains can't make sense of it, taking in only those parts that aren't changed much by the transformation. It illustrates how much processing there is in normal listening.

14/15, great video as always! The part where I messed up was at Track #6 because I didn't listen well enough thus I couldn't recognize it. I did listen to the reversed track again after the answer's reveal and honestly, I would have guessed it right, not because of the vocals but to the very distinct rhythm guitar sound.
I did find this challenge significantly easier than guessing the songs in one second, but that would be because I didn't listen to a lot of Beatle songs back then. Thanks!
