I've gotten a lot of comments saying I should have reported her.... just an update - my daughter called and spoke with the manager and she was reported. Thank you for your concern - I was a bit stunned when it happened. Also there is no rule here about removing things from carts - in fact it has always been encouraged by the employees!
The workers at our store get really itchy. They say you can't take stuff off the rack of things going out. Same with the things they are pulling because they were last weeks color of the week and they are sending it to another store. If I messed it up, that'd be one thing. But if I take it, you have less work to do and it is guaranteed sold.
The employee did what!!!???!!!! As a manager of 2 Goodwill locations, I would be upset if a customer did not tell me that one of my team members did that. You did NOT deserve to be treated like that, or even assaulted, when you are trying to support our cause. I am so sorry! This world is in a dark place and it is our job to bring some light, love and positive energy to it. On behalf of all Goodwill's across this country, I am so sorry!
Strikes me that the employee may be showing the negative attitude she’s learned from her superiors at that store. Without customers they have no business. A good time for an Undercover Boss situation at that Goodwill.
I can't believe you got hit. One time the cashier stold a silk hankie from me. I called in and got her . Couldn't win. I feel that you are such a gentle person…it is hurtful to think of an employee of the store being physically aggressive to you. You handled so well…not sure I would have been that nice!

Okay oh, I would have told that woman never to touch me ever and I would have made it hell I would have screamed in that aisle. I would have made a big deal!!!! Secondly that is a long time to wait but you did have some really nice purchases, I don't know I might have waited. I have two reached into those cards that they have not shelved yet and nothing has ever happened to me oh, they usually don't even have an employee around there. The more people take out of there, the less they have to put away.

I've been accused of lying (Walmart), had my hand slapped (Sam's Club) , been screamed at (Safeway), I'm starting to think there's an insanity clause in employment agreements, if you're not crazy they won't hire you. LOL!

pam Cowger I agree the pricing is way too high now. I buy things and use them. I can buy a comforter off eBay that’s new and costs less. I don’t buy from thrift stores and sell to others but if I did, it would be fine to do. People earn a living the way they’re able and if somebody buys what they’re selling...I’m not making judgements about it...sorry...this is geared to the remark that tries to shame others who try to earn a bit by selling from their score at thrift stores...
@@PK-bh1ww I really don't know why you feel it is ok to jump on me for a simple comment! And I don't need a lecture on the good that some thrift stores do! I have been putting money in the SA pots since I was a very little girl and my mother explained what and why they were doing this. And yes they help many people in need but it shouldn't be at the expense of people on a fixed income (like myself) or family's that are struggling to get clothes and perhaps some toys for their little ones!!!! And yes the SA and goodwill prices at least in my state have gone crazy! When you pick up an item and the original sticker is still on the bottom and "they" have marked it more that the original price, well in my book that's just WRONG! As far as this gal buying stuff to resale, last I checked this is still a free country and people can make money the best way they can. She is the one going from store to store hunting for items then hoping they will sell after she has to clean them up, post them, hopefully sell, ship them etc. And NO ONE is forcing people to buy things on line. Some people I know are thrilled to find that one piece they have been looking for to complete a set or add to their collection! And lastly NO ONE has the right to SLAP anyone, period! @@PK-bh1ww yes times are so hard alot of people I know are buying stuff for cheaper and selling it on sites like eBay but there is no reason what so ever for someone who works there to put there hands on her she could of politely told her ma'am you have to wait until I put it on a shelf which still makes no sense she was actually helping her out by taking stuff out of the buggy less work she would of had to do and I can tell you that woman who slapped her would of got slapped right back I will not aloud anyone to put there hands on me and if you would of been listening to her she doesn't really sell the stuff for what it's worth she just goes up maybe 10 20 dollars but you need to figure this is a job for her she has to get up in the morning get dressed and go out looking through all that nasty stuff and hope she can find a few pcs to sell then go home clean it all up then take pictures of it and post it that is alot of work I know I use to do it so now you fussing because she was going to buy something for 4 dollars and sell it for 20 that is a 16 dollar profit if the buyer pays shipping so now out that 16 dollars you have to take her over head out which is her car note car insurance gas her time it takes to clean the items and look them up and see how much there worth take pictures and post it so you tell me if she is making a ton of money and you not anyone else here can tell me that if they could sell something they bought for much more that you wouldn't cause at times like these everyone is trying to figure out how to make money this panidemic has so many people going crazy because they don't know how they going to pay there bills I just lost a friend who killed himself because he had lost everything while waiting for the government to make a decision and he isn't the only one there are alot more like him they just don't want the public to know about it it's all just so sad to me so before you come on here and put anyone down please I ask you to think really hard what you going to say before you say it cause I can tell you the American people need love now more than ever not hate I wish you well and pray I helped you understand on a much better level than you were

Our Goodwill just started posting signs not to take things from the carts. I’m not sure why as long as people are nice and not shoving the employees liked it because it was less to put away :)
Keep encouraged - not everyone is out of their mind ... It just seems like people are getting away with any kind of behavior without redress, and it encourages others to follow suit. NOT a good example for those that follow after us. Good for your daughter for sticking up for you.
Hitting someone, even slapping a hand, would be assault. The employee could have been arrested. Glad she didn’t hit an elderly person that had arthritis in their hand or someone with a disability with their joints. This should have been reported to the store manager. IJS

I can't believe someone had the nerve and the lack of professionalism to slap you or any other customer! If that happened to me I would have been hard pressed not to cry from being startled and demoralized! I hate that you experienced that and hope you will take the time to call their regional office and calmly explain what happened to bring it to their attention so they can put a stop to that kind of behavior.

@Howard Black that's actually something predators and bullies think... that the victim somehow deserves it and brings it on themselves. Besides when someone does something like that out of the blue it can be really intimidating and you freeze. All those people saying that they would`ve slapped back... they would've done no such thing if it happened to them. It's easy to say in hindsight.

But you said it yourself that they were CAUSING the abuse when they chose to walk away or when they were emotional about it afterwards. I'm not against standing up for yourself. But that doesn't mean that someone isn't allowed to show emotions or cry. She also didn't say she did that in front of the person. I get really tired of people thinking that anyone who shows a little emotion or chooses to walk away is somehow a weak person who needs to learn how to stand up for themselves. While in fact it will ask more strength sometimes to walk away. Also I've been in a situation where I did not have a choice because the man was drunk and aggressive and could've beaten me to pulp. I'm glad I walked away. And I did cry afterwards... because that's just a way to release all that tension from getting your boundaries violated. That doesn't mean that I'm somehow a person who attracts bullies. On the contrary, I mostly don't. And I do understand that sociopaths and the like will choose their victims. But this was just an angry lady who lashed out. It could've happened to anyone. Well maybe not to a man with enough physical appearance. But she can't help being another woman, can she? And please be nice also on the internet. You don't have to repeat my message in bold type or say I have a twisted moral or world view. You can't conclude anything of the sort from my message. I'm just another human being who is allowed to give my opinion.
I found wonderful things at the Union Gospel Mission Thrift Store in Spokane Valley, WA and their prices were very reasonable. Goodwill has gone overboard on their prices!! It's a turn off. I really enjoy your videos!

I am so sorry that happened to you. I have worked retail for years and that is totally unacceptable. I also know that from my side, I am dealing with a lot more rude behavior from customers over every little thing. We have a department dedicated to doing the personal shopping for online customers. They are clearly dedicated staff and customers will follow them expecting them to answer questions on specific products. It is a mess on both sides. 🤮
I'm so glad I don't work retail anymore. I always said everyone should have to do it once in their life and then all customers would be more considerate. I watched that very same thing happen at one of our Goodwills! I watched a older lady worker pop/push another old ladies hand and tell her same thing! It started a outburst in the store! Your Goodwills has some awesome stuff I needed🙂! I love thrifting it’s my hobby ! I love decorating and crafting on a dime! Love your videos I’ve learned a few things from about items you talk about! I’m not trying to be mean, but I hope that never happens to me because my reflexes would have me slapping someone back. And yes, Goodwill and Salvation Army prices are outrageous, $15 and up for used goods?? No, not good.
RIGHT! Their prices have gotten way out of hand. They have made that " rule" about not taking things out of the cart at our goodwill too, but they really don't enforce it. Yes, we should all love each other, but you need to file charges against that employee.
Unlike Goodwill (it's just a money making independant business chain) the Salvation Army uses its profits to help people. They do the most good for the most people. Goodwill lines their own pockets.
The prices are terrible especially when every thing is DONATED to them. I live in KERNERSVILLE, North Carolina, and go to Goodwill looking for unusual decorative items. The Goodwill here is so NASTY now.The smell is completely disgusting and it is so messy. There is no order to anything and there is more that should have been tossed and never put out on the shelves & racks, than is acceptable. This is really disturbing to me because I donate to certain organizations and never give anything away that’s worn out. Someone from Goodwill headquarters should see what’s happened here, but I don’t think they really care. If they are trying to sell donated crap at unreasonable prices in a disgusting store, I personally will never go back. There are too many other thrift stores in this area. I know lots of people who will never donate to Goodwill again because of the higher prices. Disgusting.
@@joburrow9863 we have to remember that it costs Good Will to display all donations for sale. They are a business like any other. As well staff fled.when the pandemic came to town and many never returned. So you have few trying to do the job of many. I hate that a customer was treated so bizarrely. I would have gone directly to the manager and if that didn’t seem satisfactory I would have gone directly to the corporate office in your area. They’re suppose to wear name tags which in our area are usually worn backwards. SO, if anything does happen you can’t see their name. Corporate will usually do something about it. I understand most employees have some special need...still it is not an excuse to be abusive. If management doesn’t know there is a problem with their staff they can’t fix it. Who knows, there may have more customers who have been slapped. Ultimately Corporate is responsible. Slapping is abuse! You are correct, something HAS to give. Amen. (Done with sermon.)🙂
That slap was not abuse, it was assault! And assault is a crime. No one gets to lay hands on you! The police should have been called and charges pressed. The employee may very well have special needs, but GoodWill and any other business has the obligation to hire employees, special needs or not, who are capable of working with the public without harming them!

I agree with you! As a RN, I have seen what stress and panic can do to some people. It can either bring out the good...or reveal a very ugly side in some. We MUST remember exactly what our Father instructed...and it IS to love one another. I'm sending you peace and love with a little splash of hope. I've been right where you were today on a recent trip to a department store...needless to say, I left my buggy and departed just as you did. I've had much time to think about the altercation and how I could have changed the other person's perspective. The only thing I am sure of is I can only change myself and keep projecting love and kindness and if it isn't reciprocated, then it's ABOVE my area of expertise and I'll just give it to a Higher Power. The Goodwills in my area used to let us shop from the stocking cart. In fact, they even announced on the PA system when a new cart was coming out. They no longer do this I think because of the social distancing requirement.
Loved those 1993 Christmas carolers--I would have grabbed them for resale too. This store sure had a lot of framed wall art. I hunt for custom framing. Sometimes shoppers remove the price sticker as a protest when they think the item has been priced too high. I've seen that happen. Also, people donate chipped, cracked, and broken items to get the donation tax receipt, not because their junk is usable. I'm an avid thrifter and I've seen it all over the past 70 years.

This is the first time I've seen your videos and I was enjoying it up until I saw you in your vehicle, distraught. I was very sad for you and I agree with your editorial. This country has always had its share of jerks, idiots, and unkind people. But these past few months have been beyond my imagination! The hate and ugliness has tripled. I would have said something to her right then and then “maybe” made contact with her manager or her manager’s manger or a regional director if you really wanted to make a stink. At the same time, I might have checked myself and just taken it (except for, depending on my mood, telling the offender directly how inappropriate her behavior just was,) because I wouldn’t want her to lose her job or get in big trouble, which “touching” a customer for said reason could certainly do. One thing that was super emphasized when I used to work in social services is that unnecessary, unwanted or inappropriate touching is a big, huge NO NO. OK, that was in an entirely different setting and for different reasons, but “touching” even hugging, became discouraged as it may be be misunderstood. So in a retail setting, even in a Goodwill, an employee “slapping” your hands, is clearly inappropriate when just politely telling you to “please don’t pick from the cart,” would have been enough. One thing you might do is to call to speak to the mgr and tell her that “one of your employees” did this. He or she will try to get you to say “who” it was. But they might then relay to all the employees that “someone” called to complain about an employee “slapping her hands” for pulling from the cart and the explain how unacceptable that is, etc. That might be enough. You don’t know, maybe this employee is just ignorant & clueless?
I'm a "big" woman because I have an inherited health condition. I have never been more insulated in my entire life than I have been over the past few months. It's as if some people think they can say anything they want about the person in front of them and that person can't hear them. If it was just me, I could ignore it. But, I often shop with my daughter who has inherited the condition from me. And to hear some rude smart-ass woman say to the person beside that I'm the reason there's birth control when my beautiful, well educated, and successful daughter is standing in front of me waiting in line just makes me feel like I want to smack them upside the head. But, I don't because I won't stoop to their level. I just wanted to say that I agree with you; people in general are meaner than they've ever been. And, my fear is that it's only going to get worse with all that's going on.

I don'd think it's so much selfish as it is scared and stressed. That clerk at GW may have been told not to allow customers to take things from the cart. I can imagine several instances in which that would be a good idea. If the item is picked up and looked at and then put back; that is one more person who has put their possibly infected hands on that item. However, slapping a customer is an offense that should be punishable by separation from your job.
Omg! I've had them tell me that over 5 yrs ago. I said ok....moved on from miss fake mean girl. Your so right, we need to be kinder even if we encounter people like her but this is no place for her to hit you, even a slap is out of line.

The reason that things with cracks, etc. slip through those similar cracks is that this is a training ground for people. SA has the same issues. Resellers are what keeps thrift shops going.
I live in NC. My local GW does not allow touching items before they are placed on the shelf but I have never been smacked. In today's world you never know who you are dealing with and I would think it would be a really good way to get injured, if you get my gist. Sorry that happened to you and I commend you for keeping your cool.
Yes. We all need to mind our own business. Be courteous and kind. Literally every single person you see is stressed right now. Having a bad day is the new normal. Nobody can see a welcoming or kind smile under a mask. We must verbalize in our muffled little voices- not just push past or block. Its crazy out there.
Well good thing we can see smiles with eyes. You can always see the emotions in others eyes. After all they are the windows to our souls. We gotta wear masks to keep safe and not spread this horrible virus. :(

Maybe you might consider the employee’s side? Perhaps there is a store policy. If everyone grabbed things off the cart, interfering with the orderly placement of objects, it would be a mess. The store provides real world job experience for those not able to find a job. You interfered with the task. Maybe you should apologize?

I can see the pain in your face and hear it in your voice. You were actually battered and assaulted by the staff of an establishment while you were conducting business with them. Their staff violated you. You should have engaged the manager of the store who should be knowledgeable about how their staff must interact with the public. Goodwill is a multimillion corporation and is legally responsible for their staff behavior. They are lucky you are not suing. By battering and assaulting you in the store, that staff handed you dollars

this was a control issue. That person feels so powerless in their life that they have to control the contents of the cart. It is a shame. I am sorry you had that experience. I have just been with you and Yvon and the Lamp Lady for about a month and I am watching all the older videos as well as the new stuff. not sure if you read the comments on the old ones, but I am with you. Especially on the price thing. If you have to pay retail prices, they should take the word thrift out of their name!

How terrible for you. I hate this happened and the world is sad. I've not been back to our goodwills since they reopened, I think about going back the first Saturday in September. Everything in the store is half off and we have two stores and our major city close to where we live. It's just unacceptable to be slapped by an employee of Goodwill. I've gotten a lot of comments saying I should have reported her.... just an update - my daughter called and spoke with the manager and she was reported. Thank you for your concern - I was a bit stunned when it happened.
Also there is no rule here about removing things from carts - in fact it has always been encouraged by the employees!

The workers at our store get really itchy. They say you can't take stuff off the rack of things going out. Same with the things they are pulling because they were last weeks color of the week and they are sending it to another store. If I messed it up, that'd be one thing. But if I take it, you have less work to do and it is guaranteed sold.

The employee did what!!!???!!!! As a manager of 2 Goodwill locations, I would be upset if a customer did not tell me that one of my team members did that. You did NOT deserve to be treated like that, or even assaulted, when you are trying to support our cause. I am so sorry! I don’t buy from thrift stores and sell to others but if I did, it would be fine to do. I have been putting money in the SA pots since I was a very little girl and my mother explained what and why they were doing this. And yes they help many people in need but it shouldn't be at the expense of people on a fixed income (like myself) or family's that are struggling to get clothes and perhaps some toys for their little ones!!!! And yes the SA and goodwill prices at least in my state have gone crazy! When you pick up an item and the original sticker is still on the bottom and "they" have marked it more that the original price, well in my book that's just WRONG! As far as this gal buying stuff to resale, last I checked this is still a free country and people can make money the best way they can. She is the one going from store to store hunting for items then hoping they will sell after she has to clean them up, post them, hopefully sell, ship them etc. And NO ONE is forcing people to buy things on line. Some people I know are thrilled to find that one piece they have been looking for to complete a set or add to their collection! And lastly NO ONE has the right to SLAP anyone, period! If they don't want you to touch the merchandise on the cart they should have clear signs posted on the cart.
Our Goodwill just started posting signs not to take things from the carts. I’m not sure why as long as people are nice and not shoving the employees liked it because it was less to put away :)

Hitting someone, even slapping a hand, would be assault. The employee could have been arrested. Glad she didn’t hit an elderly person that had arthritis in their hand or someone with a disability with their joints. This should have been reported to the store manager. IJS

I can't believe someone had the nerve and the lack of professionalism to slap you or any other customer! If that happened to me I would have been hard pressed not to cry from being startled and demoralized! I hate that you experienced that and hope you will take the time to call their regional office and calmly explain what happened to bring it to their attention so they can put a stop to that kind of behavior.
I was so shocked! I was almost in tears - and then again when I was shooting that ending... I'm so sad how scared people are that they would impulsively act that way. My daughter called the store manager and they seemed to be taking it seriously.

Besides when someone does something like that out of the blue it can be really intimidating and you freeze. All those people saying that they would`ve slapped back... they would've done no such thing if it happened to them. It's easy to say in hindsight.

But you said it yourself that they were CAUSING the abuse when they chose to walk away or when they were emotional about it afterwards. I'm not against standing up for yourself. But that doesn't mean that someone isn't allowed to show emotions or cry. She also didn't say she did that in front of the person. I get really tired of people thinking that anyone who shows a little emotion or chooses to walk away is somehow a weak person who needs to learn how to stand up for themselves. While in fact it will ask more strength sometimes to walk away. Also I've been in a situation where I did not have a choice because the man was drunk and aggressive and could've beaten me to pulp. I'm glad I walked away. And I did cry afterwards... because that's just a way to release all that tension from getting your boundaries violated. That doesn't mean that I'm somehow a person who attracts bullies. On the contrary, I mostly don't. And I do understand that sociopaths and the like will choose their victims. But this was just an angry lady who lashed out. It could've happened to anyone. Well maybe not to a man with enough physical appearance. But she can't help being another woman, can she?

I found wonderful things at the Union Gospel Mission Thrift Store in Spokane Valley, WA and their prices were very reasonable. Goodwill has gone overboard on their prices!! It's a turn off. I really enjoy your videos!

I also know that from my side, I am dealing with a lot more rude behavior from customers over every little thing. We have a department dedicated to doing the personal shopping for online customers. They are clearly dedicated staff and customers will follow them expecting them to answer questions on specific products. It is a mess on both sides. 🤮
I'm so glad I don't work retail anymore. I always said everyone should have to do it once in their life and then all customers would be more considerate. I watched that very same thing happen at one of our Goodwills! I watched a older lady worker pop/push another old ladies hand and tell her same thing! It started a outburst in the store! And yes, Goodwill and Salvation Army prices are outrageous, $15 and up for used goods?? No, not good.

RIGHT! Their prices have gotten way out of hand. They have made that " rule" about not taking things out of the cart at our goodwill too, but they really don't enforce it. Yes, we should all love each other, but you need to file charges against that employee.
Unlike Goodwill (it's just a money making independant business chain) the Salvation Army uses its profits to help people. They do the most good for the most people. Goodwill lines their own pockets.
The prices are terrible especially when every thing is DONATED to them. I live in KERNERSVILLE, North Carolina, and go to Goodwill looking for unusual decorative items. The Goodwill here is so NASTY now.The smell is completely disgusting and it is so messy. There is no order to anything and there is more that should have been tossed and never put out on the shelves & racks, than is acceptable. This is really disturbing to me because I donate to certain organizations and never give anything away that’s worn out. Someone from Goodwill headquarters should see what’s happened here, but I don’t think they really care. If they are trying to sell donated crap at unreasonable prices in a disgusting store, I personally will never go back. There are too many other thrift stores in this area. I know lots of people who will never donate to Goodwill again because of the higher prices. Disgusting.

As well staff fled.when the pandemic came to town and many never returned. So you have few trying to do the job of many. I hate that a customer was treated so bizarrely. I would have gone directly to the manager and if that didn’t seem satisfactory I would have gone directly to the corporate office in your area. They’re suppose to wear name tags which in our area are usually worn backwards. SO, if anything does happen you can’t see their name. Corporate will usually do something about it. I understand most employees have some special need...still it is not an excuse to be abusive. If management doesn’t know there is a problem with their staff they can’t fix it. Who knows, there may have more customers who have been slapped. Ultimately Corporate is responsible. Slapping is abuse! You are correct, something HAS to give. Amen. (Done with sermon.)🙂
That slap was not abuse, it was assault! And assault is a crime. No one gets to lay hands on you! The police should have been called and charges pressed. The employee may very well have special needs, but GoodWill and any other business has the obligation to hire employees, special needs or not, who are capable of working with the public without harming them!

I agree with you! As a RN, I have seen what stress and panic can do to some people. It can either bring out the good...or reveal a very ugly side in some. We MUST remember exactly what our Father instructed...and it IS to love one another. I'm sending you peace and love with a little splash of hope. I've been right where you were today on a recent trip to a department store...needless to say, I left my buggy and departed just as you did. I've had much time to think about the altercation and how I could have changed the other person's perspective. The only thing I am sure of is I can only change myself and keep projecting love and kindness and if it isn't reciprocated, then it's ABOVE my area of expertise and I'll just give it to a Higher Power. The Goodwills in my area used to let us shop from the stocking cart. In fact, they even announced on the PA system when a new cart was coming out. They no longer do this I think because of the social distancing requirement.
Loved those 1993 Christmas carolers--I would have grabbed them for resale too. This store sure had a lot of framed wall art. I hunt for custom framing. Sometimes shoppers remove the price sticker as a protest when they think the item has been priced too high. I've seen that happen. Also, people donate chipped, cracked, and broken items to get the donation tax receipt, not because their junk is usable. I'm an avid thrifter and I've seen it all over the past 70 years.

This is the first time I've seen your videos and I was enjoying it up until I saw you in your vehicle, distraught. I was very sad for you and I agree with your editorial. This country has always had its share of jerks, idiots, and unkind people. But these past few months have been beyond my imagination! The hate and ugliness has tripled.

I would have said something to her right then and then “maybe” made contact with her manager or her manager’s manger or a regional director if you really wanted to make a stink. At the same time, I might have checked myself and just taken it (except for, depending on my mood, telling the offender directly how inappropriate her behavior just was,) because I wouldn’t want her to lose her job or get in big trouble, which “touching” a customer for said reason could certainly do. One thing that was super emphasized when I used to work in social services is that unnecessary, unwanted or inappropriate touching is a big, huge NO NO. OK, that was in an entirely different setting and for different reasons, but “touching” even hugging, became discouraged as it may be be misunderstood. So in a retail setting, even in a Goodwill, an employee “slapping” your hands, is clearly inappropriate when just politely telling you to “please don’t pick from the cart,” would have been enough. One thing you might do is to call to speak to the mgr and tell her that “one of your employees” did this. He or she will try to get you to say “who” it was. I've shopped Goodwill hundreds of times. I've NEVER heard that you can't touch anything in the cart. Goodwill is not as fun as it used to be.
Lots of mine have a fit if touch the carts. It doesn't make it fair for everone. Funny how they are different.
I find that hospice thrift stores can be a good place for vintage items

I'm a "big" woman because I have an inherited health condition. I have never been more insulated in my entire life than I have been over the past few months. It's as if some people think they can say anything they want about the person in front of them and that person can't hear them. If it was just me, I could ignore it. But, I often shop with my daughter who has inherited the condition from me. And to hear some rude smart-ass woman say to the person beside that I'm the reason there's birth control when my beautiful, well educated, and successful daughter is standing in front of me waiting in line just makes me feel like I want to smack them upside the head. But, I don't because I won't stoop to their level. I just wanted to say that I agree with you; people in general are meaner than they've ever been. And, my fear is that it's only going to get worse with all that's going on.

I’m just seeing this video and I’m so sorry this happen to you. Your very good at what you do and so kind for sharing and teaching all of us. Stay happy and remember, that person has to look at herself in the mirror knowing she acted that way. You on the other hand can look at your pretty face and wonderful family and know the blessings will keep coming your way.

@@bettybrigance6784 I wouldn't sue a Goodwill because an employee but I would talk to the manager and if I wasn't happy I would call corporate. That employee is putting a lot of people in danger because hit the right person now days and someone could shot up the whole store.

I don'd think it's so much selfish as it is scared and stressed. That clerk at GW may have been told not to allow customers to take things from the cart. I can imagine several instances in which that would be a good idea. If the item is picked up and looked at and then put back; that is one more person who has put their possibly infected hands on that item. However, slapping a customer is an offense that should be punishable by separation from your job.
Omg! I've had them tell me that over 5 yrs ago. I said ok....moved on from miss fake mean girl. Your so right, we need to be kinder even if we encounter people like her but this is no place for her to hit you, even a slap is out of line.

The reason that things with cracks, etc. slip through those similar cracks is that this is a training ground for people. SA has the same issues. Resellers are what keeps thrift shops going.
The stuffs in Goodwill nowadays the prices are high same as the new ones that’s why I don’t go there often , the flea markets to me better !

I live in NC. My local GW does not allow touching items before they are placed on the shelf but I have never been smacked. In today's world you never know who you are dealing with and I would think it would be a really good way to get injured, if you get my gist. Yes. We all need to mind our own business. Be courteous and kind. Literally every single person you see is stressed right now. Having a bad day is the new normal. Nobody can see a welcoming or kind smile under a mask. We must verbalize in our muffled little voices- not just push past or block. Its crazy out there.
If we smile big from our heart a smiling expression can be seen in the area around our eyes.
Well good thing we can see smiles with eyes. You can always see the emotions in others eyes. After all they are the windows to our souls.

Maybe you might consider the employee’s side? Perhaps there is a store policy. If everyone grabbed things off the cart, interfering with the orderly placement of objects, it would be a mess. The store provides real world job experience for those not able to find a job. You interfered with the task. Maybe you should apologize?

I can see the pain in your face and hear it in your voice. You were actually battered and assaulted by the staff of an establishment while you were conducting business with them. Their staff violated you. You should have engaged the manager of the store who should be knowledgeable about how their staff must interact with the public. Goodwill is a multimillion corporation and is legally responsible for their staff behavior. They are lucky you are not suing. By battering and assaulting you in the store, that staff handed you dollars

this was a control issue. That person feels so powerless in their life that they have to control the contents of the cart. It is a shame. I am sorry you had that experience. Especially on the price thing. If you have to pay retail prices, they should take the word thrift out of their name!

Don't get me wrong, I hate that anyone has suffered. I too have lost a classmate and close friend to it. He was in the hospital 2 months and just recently retired. But living in fear isn't good for anyone's immune system either. Fear isn't going to help but respect of the virus and washing ones hands, as well as staying out of large gatherings, that will help.

How terrible for you. I hate this happened and the world is sad. I've not been back to our goodwills since they reopened, I think about going back the first Saturday in September. Everything in the store is half off and we have two stores and our major city close to where we live. It's just unacceptable to be slapped by an employee of Goodwill.
