- My wife (Ayla Donlin Wellness) and I wanted a good challenge for 2020 and Rim to Rim was perfect. Starting on the North Grand Canyon Rim at North Kaibab and running to Bright Angel trail on the South. Such and epic one day hike to see how amazing the Grand Canyon really is!

Nice job guys! The chat at the end was of value. I love running R2R (and have our 5th in a row posted to my channel) and was just there in mid-Oct 2020 for my 7th in 6yrs. The Canyon is a beast, and there are so many facets to running there. You touched on them! Sometimes the Canyon wins, sometimes you win. If you guys haven't discovered the Naked Running Bands, you might like them more than your race packs. IMO, it's so much nicer not to have a pack on your back and on your shoulders. Thanks for shooting all that footage, and putting the video together. It's a ton of work, and it's much appreciated!

Fun run with good music - enjoyed it. Your stats are a little off. It is 23.5 miles R2R via BA (not 28.5 miles). And the elevation loss is 5800 feet while the ascent is only 4400 feet to BA Trailhead (not 6K feet). Great video though.
I recently completed a rim2rim2 rim using the South Kaibab and North Kaibab trails according to the NP the distance was 21 miles each way. My hiking app (which I have always found to be accurate, uses GPS) said the distance was 23.7 miles. I think the NP used one of those wheeled things to measure distance running it up the middle of trail but that's not how people hike or run. You are constantly zig zaging back and forth trying to find the easiest path, plus you go off trail to use a toliet or get water or take in a viewpoint. My point is maybe they run 28 miles, in some of their shots they obviously ran back up the trail to get a certain shot.
@@richardmaurice8622 after 151x down/across the GC, I can assure you that the NPS mileages are highly accurate...period
@@marymessal3797 Maybe they started at the North Rim Lodge and hiked to the trailhead and ended at Yavapai Lodge, maybe they went to Ribbon Falls, maybe they explored the Clear Creek trail.
I think they are including the detour to Ribbon falls and also the wrong turn to the Panorama point trail (3 miles) in their total mileage.
I’m planning on doing rim2rim first of Oct 2021. Not sure what is best to keep my body fueled. Can you advise. In doing this for me as I turn 64 😎

@aceyorba I am too! I called the Ranger station about the shutdown and they said the canyon typically will stay open, but may have less services available during a gov't shutdown.
@@bstack11 doing to hike on oct 5th. North to South. If no lock out.
