This blows my mind even as a committed (but vastly less talented) ultrarunner. In 1979, I hiked South Bass Trail to the river; didn’t do the same on North Bass Trail to the river until 2013. Rugged and remote (especially North Bass) doesn’t describe it. And the river is daunting as any rafter knows. Congratulations, most sincerely, and thanks for making this film. God bless you and The Canyon! The late Dr. Harvey Butchart, my friend and the greatest Canyon explorer since John Wesley Powell, would have cheered you on.
I'm not an ultra Runner by any means but a friend and I run south rim to North Rim to South Rim a couple times a year just for the challenge. Our best time is 19 hours 30 minutes. I can't walk for a few days after but its a blast!!!
Omg just found your channel watching a bunch so amazing ❤❤❤just wow the beauty…can’t be I’ve you all run there at night holy moly you guys are a beast❤
Wow. Incredible run. Getting to Colorado river looked crazy. Swimming Colorado river with that current and doing again knowing what you have done must have been fun. Thanks Jamil for capturing this.
Really just an amazing job filming and putting this all together Jamil! No one else could have kept up with, and captured these guys. And much respect to all of you for having the training and guts to run this trail, let alone, swim the Colorado in December (2018) twice. I ran R2R for the 7th time, on Oct. 18, 2020 and saw Walmsley running on the North Kaibab between The Box and Cottonwood.
Ten years ago, when I was a young 41, I hiked down from the south rim to the Colorado River and back out in a day and I literally thought I was going to die. The most physically difficult thing I have ever done, but the scenery was so spectacular that I didn't mind the thought of spending my last moments on earth there. I couldn't even imagine doing it now. My knees hurt just watching this video.
Awesome film. Thanks for doing this. Me and my family were on south Kaibab trail last week and I think Walmsley passed us going up to the rim. He was very polite as he went by. It was cool. Keep up the cool work you do!
This looks so gnarly and amazing. I’m planning an R2R2R in a couple weeks and thought about changing my route to this one for about 10 seconds. A little too crazy for me, haha.
That water's pretty cold and they'd still need dry sacks for the rest of their gear. I'm guessing the wetsuits don't affect the time that much. Would be really sick to see someone try it with pre-rigged temporary ziplines across though hehe
Amazing effort and brilliantly documented! Just curious any reasons behind the almost 2 years between the filming and release? (I can't really talk.. still getting around to editing some footage from last year.. hehe)
@@runsteepgethigh Thanks so much for the reply :) Love your work and this one in particular really makes you feel like you're there with the Cowboys.. in the cold rushing river. So cool to see people getting more creative with their running projects and mixing it up.

Did this last year and had to swim back across in the dark. This video brings back both good and bad memories, it was so gnarly hahah
Epic
Awesome film and adventure!

Loved this!
Absolutely perfect movie Jamil. Loved every minute.
Thanks.
Only possible with Jamil chasing and swimming with a camera.
That looks like an epic day out, a real adventure, and a hugely enjoyable watch. Thanks guys.
Well worth the wait. Well done, Jamil
Awesome! Not for mere mortals! 👊 Thanks for taking us along. 🙏
Awesome work Jamil!

There is no bridge!

Well done Jamil
F'ing Awesome!!! I don't know how you didn't go into shock when your face hit that ice water (twice). Must have some Wim Hof in you.

Thank you
Seeing Jim go for a swim across a river got me worried....flashbacks
Awesome
amazing
Yep!
inspirational! wonder how much time they could've cut off if they'd just wore tri suits

It fell to the bottom of the pile and on the back burner. We released as part of the trail running film fest this summer and finally ready to release.

@runsteepgethigh what is the intro song? Thanks
I bet the Rangers HATE this idea. LOL. A perfect scenario for a drowning or two. But that’s what adventure is. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Holy ad interuptions, batman.
Ok but this is a bad idea for 99% of people out there lol
Damn. In my next life I will be a better athlete.
Training Status: Overreaching
Understatement
Facts.
Recovery :|
Real talk though, I find most of the metrics and recommendations on my Garmin to be largely useless.
Noble deed.
"training status: overreaching" 😂
When was this actually done?
December 2018
Walmsley's Western States 2016 river crossing was actually just training for this swim?
When was this originally filmed? Snow on the North Rim! 🥶
At 4:25 he says that it's December, I assume of last year.

who gives this a thumbs down?!
People who don’t like the music choices 😂
Playlist of these FKT Records
