Been studying these “divorce the moss” vloggs as jst had 1st go scarifying my heavily mossy clay front lawn (30 sq m) after spraying iron sulphate on it 10 days ago….not been scarified in prob 10ys… so loads came up. Hard work with the wolf garten scarifier rake on wheels!! Sprayed another lot of iron sulphate on it n will leave it a week?? Def looks like the lawn ur doing here…gone black and patchy…as will need seeding n top dressing…got some bags of JMagic fr B&M as it’s the new stuff. Def best lawn vlogger out there…good to se u hit 12K subs!!
since i started using mm50 i dont get moss..but this time of year a third of the grass blades go yellow..i havent touched it since november...but when i verticut and reseed when it warms up in a few weeks..its all good again..it could probably do with a feed
Can you recommend a scarifier machine similar to yours please, any links would be amazing. Mid range not over pricey but not too cheap too. Appreciated .
Dan why didn't'you check the scarifyer before you left home ?? Too late when you got to the customer & found a fault i.e. pull cord strained, no spark Did you use fresh fuel.?? Tip I always use an old ton builders sack for getting rid of moss easy than plastic bags to fill and just tip out at the recycling yard. Good video. Thanks Robert from Manchester
Just found you! Nice to see a fellow Brit, and a Northerner where I'm from (N. Wales). Where are you? I live in Bavaria Germany and am getting my garden ready for the season - pruning apple trees and a Victorian hotbed at the moment.

Great video! I'm in the northwest US, so a similar climate to the UK and struggling with moss here too. Have you scarified before spring with a new lawn from the previous autumn, or do you suggest waiting to scarify those lawns until it's warmer out?

Daniel, what seed mix do you use? Sometimes I feel I overthink grass seed and what I need is just a go-to amenity mix that provides a fast-growing consistent sward.
Ive just become a supplier of the 5kg bags of barenbrug extreme which is a dwarf rye mix easy to get going and easy to look after, will be letting everyone know when its here on my facebook group, are you a member?

@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert - pricey stuff Barenbrug when you’ve got a couple of acres (as I have). I’ve seen a video of how they produce it, so you get what you pay for, but my lawns are savaged by nature (rabbits, moles, voles, woodpeckers, squirrels and deer) so it’s just not worth aiming for perfection and watching the animals destroy it. I bought my last load of seed from Boston Seeds (BS Economy Grass Seed) but I’ve just not found it to be very resilient to the onslaught.

@@paulmacdougall3188 yeah sure it survives the winter frosts so cutting isnt going ro harm it, grass is very resiliant look what happens in drought it goes well dead then bit of rain it comes back
Yeah as it lessens the stress on the scarifier and if the grass is long then youll just scarify grass not the lower legions were its needed, bear in mind this job is coarse grasses and will recover so if its your main lawn and you think it may get damaged then just wait bit longer especially if boggy
