There was a study done in Pakistan with 40 diabetic patients with kidney disease where 20 were treated with 300gm/day of thiamine (Vitamin B1) in divided doses and the other 20 with placebo. ALL the treatment group showed marked improvement as measured by the dimished protein in their urine whereas the placebo group largely didn't. 7 of the treatment group actually had their protein drop to those of healthy individuals - effectively their kidneys were cured.
Diabetics are known to be low in thiamine, the excessive urination to eliminate excess glucose also depletes thiamine. It's possible that the benefits of kefir for the kidneys is due to the kefir bacteria colonising the gut producing B vitamins, in addition to any other benefits. if I had renal disease I'd take 300gm/day of thiamine (preferably benfotiamine or allithiamine, fat-soluble versions of thiamine) in addition to the kefir.
This is fascinating! Especially since Kefir has more potassium, which CKD patients are often told that they have to be careful of.
Also Gum Arabic does fix kidneys
How could anyone give a thumbs down for this video???
I can’t understand
I purchased Kefir "grains" here in the Philippines a month ago and it is so easy to make. There were 4 options with Belgium, Irish, Russian, and one other. The Belgium apparently is the less sour and has the most types of bacteria.
I appreciate this new info. I have watched many "how to" kefir videos and each presents some new information but rarely is all of the information in 1 video so it takes some research to get a better understanding if that is important to you.
Feeding your milk kefir grassfed organic milk makes you feel like a million bucks. Super nutrient dense. Thank-you Donna for changing my life.
Just make sure its not ULTRA pastuerized and you are good to go! Kefir made me feel amazing too :)
You probably dont care but does any of you know of a method to get back into an instagram account?
I stupidly lost my login password. I would love any assistance you can give me
@Jamison Jude instablaster ;)
@Zachariah Wallace thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site on google and Im in the hacking process now.
Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Zachariah Wallace It worked and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thanks so much, you saved my ass !
Dear Donna, so happy to have stumbled on your web site. I am amazed just listening to this testimony. Thank you so much for all the information you share with us. God Bless you for helping us to know there is light at the end of the tunnel. I have started Kiefer and I must say I enjoy it. 🙏🙏
Thank you! Absolutely!!!😀💖
Thank you, I'm new to all of this but I'm so happy i found this!!!
Thank you for important information 😇🤗👍👌👏👏👏
Another great way to break up kidney stones is using phosfood. Made by Standard Process. There are some UA-cam videos that explain it and the Amazon reviews are very encouraging. Yay for kefir for kidney health!!
Thank U!❤
Wow!! I love your lectures. They're very educational, elightening and motivational.
Yesterday I was in a hurry so began easy Kefir . Woke up realizing I had not added the ULINE pre probiotic. So added 1 TBS and this morning it was thicker but not yogurt thickness. BUT drinkable. Well yippee. I wanted to drink a probiotic anyway. Will make it as per your instructions today. L.Gas is yummy. Waiting for my fancy yogurt maker to make p. Plus.
Eventhough I'm late to the party (Donna's party) this is amazing information! Absolutely Luv this! Have been drinking Kefir forever...now I know why... Thnx for the share Donna! ; D
Thank you so much. You're an amazing person for sharing this. God bless you.
This is so amazing Donna thank you so much!! 🙏💞
Thank you for listening!
Such a calming voice you have!
Thank you so much!
Hello, great podcast! Can you tell us please more if the pH (acidity) of urine is modified after Kefir consummation. Thank you!
Dear Donna, thank you so much for this information. I love all your videos! What milk do you personally prefer for milk prefer? Unfortunately, I have little access to raw milk . Thank you in advance.
Love my kefir. Really helps my gerds and ulcers
Bloody 'ell! Am I grateful for this stuff! I would not wish GERD on my _worst_ enemy (well, maybe one or two of them...). It's _horrible_ and I was told that I should go on Lanseloc as a chronic medication. I'm a South African State Pensioner and this would have taken R200 per month off my spendable pension. (My R1890 per month pension...). Fermented foods have done it for me - my own home-made Sourdough Bread with _real butter_ on it. Sauerkraut (got my first batch brewing under the sink). Good stuff.
I have reacquiring kidney stones and have had this problem for more than 20 years. I have recently been introduced to Chanuca Piadra (6 months) to brake up the stones rather than having lethrotripsy procedures (23 so far). I have been making Kambucha for a while - but it takes such along time to make. I had my first Kefir drink today after hearing/reading about its health benefits and will be getting the kefir grains to start making it myself. Wish me luck! Thank you for your post and interest in helping people - God Bless you!
Did it help ?
@@jesseguerrero8203 Did what help?
Did kefir help to break your kidney stones?
I had my kidneys inflammation, perhaps too much beers . I started drinking my homemade kombucha tea daily and at same time I was drinking water kefir. It’s took around 2 weeks to feel relieved. I save money not going to doctor. Probiotics do work well for us . Thanks Mother Nature. Thanks Pacha mama.
Hey there Ace of Bace did the kefir help?
Thanks for sharing. Is milk kefir high in protein?
Donna I'm anxious to know, have you done any studies to see if Kefir can cause Lactic Acidosis because of the lactic acid in Kefir and can this lactic acid cause Fatty Liver disease ? I'm just curious. Thanks
Dear Donna ,, plz how can i use kwfir ? Every day continuosly..? Or how? Thnx💚💚
Two thumbs up!
Thanks a lot for your efforts that’s put in to make our health better
So much love and respect from🇵🇰💕😘
Thank you so much !
Résident in mauritius island indian océan
Thank you for your very clearing présentations
Difficult here to have natural kéfir seeds with maximum good bacteria
Best regards genevieve piat
I love kefir but I have IBS-D and can not have. Do you know how to make it without dairy, Almond milk does not do it Thank you
Can kefir counter act bacterias that cause urinary tract infections?
It has protected me from UTI. Not another reoccurrence since I started drinking kefir daily.
What’s the strawberry in jar? Fermented strawberries?
Is kefir good for patients taking immuno suppressent drugs
Please do a video on "Diatomaceous Earth" and if it is safe (food grade)?
I take Diatomaceous Earth and yes the food grade is safe, I have taken it for years. Just don't breath it, like Jell-O or Nestles Quick you don't want to get it in your lungs. I take about a half a teaspoon a day and I mix it in a little water and drink it. You can buy the food grade at Tractor Supply cheap.
@@jjsam5375 I'm sorry I'm 3 years late!😟
Just saw your comment and thank you so very much for your time!😀👋
How about water kefir?
Can I ferment my water kefir and milk kefir next to each other? I put a plastic lid on loosely on each.
Yes but make sure you are using a tight lid with milk kefir and a cloth and rubberband with water kefir. Otherwise they will cross contaminate and the bacteria will be less diverse. Your milk kefir can be become overly yeasty overtime if not fermented with a sealed lid.
My comment is a bit out of sync, Donna because I’m binge watching as a new subscriber! 😅This podcast explains to me how kefir helps stabilise blood pressure! Although I’m improving with the type two, my blood pressure is higher than I’d like it to be ( and my doctor!) so I have about six weeks until my next diabetes review and my HbA1c blood test. I’m hoping that will be long enough, as a new kefir drinker/ maker to make a definite improvement. I’m learning so much in a short space of time from you!
Hi Lynne! Thank you so much for watching! I hope you are finding some health and healing from this powerful food! Keep us updated on how you are doing.
Donna Schwenk I spoke to culturedfoods on instagram as my Kefir is slow to get gong... it is fizzy but very thin like milk and this is the third day. But I guess it can take a few days to get going. The grains were very good and fully ready to go.
@@lynneceegee8726 You should give the kefir grains fresh milk. You shouldn't ferment more than 24 hours unless your home is very very cold. I believe we sent you an email as well ☺️
Look into extended water only fasting
How are you doing? Did kefir help you?
l am only new to this and am still trying to learn but my problem is l am a ketogenic person and and milk is not aloud on a keto healthy dieted plain can you use unsweetened coconut milk instead of milk thank you so much.🦋
Hi! The fermentation changes the milk and causes the carbs/sugars to greatly reduce. Even milk kefir is great for keto and can be a very healthy addition. But you can make coconut milk kefir as well! Check out this article: www.culturedfoodlife.com/low-carb-cultured-foods/
I m thinking of making milk kefir. Will there be congestion in consuming dairy daily? I wondered because you sounded like it 😅.
It's different for everyone. There can be if you are super sensitive to dairy and need to heal your gut with other things first, OR if you go through a detox/healing crisis. Kefir is very powerful so it can clean out the bad bacteria which could cause congestion during this time.
Forgive if I missed this somewhere, what is a common dosage of kefir, for someone who is end stage renal disease? I worded the question that way, to protect you legally.
Hi! You are right I can not give medical advise as I am not a doctor. Personally I suggest having smaller amounts (1/4 cup or less) and building up. Larger amounts are not bad, but you can (and most likely will) go through a healing crisis/detox which can be not so fun for awhile. You can learn more about that here: www.culturedfoodlife.com/the-healing-crisis-and-cultured-foods/
How are you, did kefir help you?
Can you please give us the recipe with non dairy kefir milk ( or make a video). I can’t drink milk but I would like to try kefir to help with my kidney disease. Thanks
Most people can drink A2 milk. Look for a milk share farmer. They will let you have samples in most cases to see if it works for you.
Hello! thank you for all good information. I' ve been taking milk and water kefir for 10 days and three days ago I ' ve got kidneys pain. Never had It before .
It could be any kind of detox??
Thank you so much
Hi! It could be part of a detox/healing crisis. But it could many other things as well. I would talk to a natural health practitioner. in your area that can better asses your personal body/health needs.
You can also learn more about the healing crisis here: www.culturedfoodlife.com/the-healing-crisis-and-cultured-foods/
Thank you so much Donna ! Love your vídeos and your work💓
How are You? Did you find out if the kefir was hurting your kidneys? Thx in advance for your reply.
Is it alright to add chlorella to my kefir, or should I keep them separate?
Make sure you add it after it has fermented and the grains are removed. But yes absolutely chlorella is great. I add it to my smoothies :)
Hi Donna! I am lactose intolerance, how do I make coconut milk kefir. How do I make coconut milk kefir? Also, in comparison to cows milk kefir which sounds to be very beneficial, what's the profitability of coconut milk kefir? Thank you very much for your response.
Hi Olga! So I will let you know that milk kefir is 99% lactose free and I have seen hundreds of individuals do wonderful on milk kefir! (although you may still have a detox/healing reaction in the beginning) That being said if you feel you aren't comfortable with milk kefir or want to heal your gut a bit first: I have all the information on making coconut milk kefir on my website here: www.culturedfoodlife.com/recipe/coconut-kefir/
CANNED coconut milk that is full fat has similar benefits to milk kefir. The other types of nut milks seem to have less (in my opinion) but they are still beneficial and have their own individual benefits that come from whatever nut or seed you are making /getting the milk from. But the regular milk and canned coconut milk are the strongest for benefits in my personal opinion.
Buuuu
There is no lactose in kefir
The bacteria in the kefir eat up the lactose in milk, in layman terms. Lactose is a type sugar in milk. Otherwise u can try making kefir with goat's milk or get kefir grain for making water kefir.
My mother has excess uric acid (gout) alongwith diabetes & blood pressure. Is it advisable to start milk kefir for her. Trying to control her gout pain with natural probiotics. Please respond
Hi Ramya! I'm not a doctor so I can't advise you personal on that level. But I've seen kefir help with both diabtes and blood pressure personally as well as with others. However for someone who needs a lot of healing start slow as she could go through a detox/healing crisis: www.culturedfoodlife.com/the-healing-crisis-and-cultured-foods/
You could find great relief through water only fasting
What about the issues from growth hormones given to cows by farmers . Seems organic only way to avoid it
I bought grains from amazon and I’ve done 8 milk changes. It turns out different every day. It stinks. The grains smelt like a dirty dishrag when they arrived. I don’t know if im wasting my time or if this is how home made kefir IS. I’m so sad a disappointed. 🌿💕🌿
Hi Erica! The grains should smell sour but not rotten or dirty. If your grains werent LIVE when you go them then they will not work well. a lot places sell dehdryated kefir grains but they do not work well at all. Kefir isn't exactly the same every batch. But it should be tart and thicker then the milk used every time. It smell sour/tart but not stinky or rotten. It sounds like your grains are dead. I sell LIVE kefir grains on my website if you are interested and there a lot of share groups as well you can find that people share there grains with each other. But you definetly want to avoid dehydrated grains. I would suggest getting some new ones from a good source. I also have kefir packets which are a bit easier for beginners as well you can find on my website. Kefir is easy you just need to get some good cultures! Hang in there!
Donna Schwenk thank you! They were “live”. Supposed to be. I will try the ones offered on your site next time. 🌿💕🌿
Erica Gardens I love my homemade kefir. Should smell slightly yeasty but not moldy. Study more on it?
Lenore talon i make kombucha which is supposed to be more complicated than kefir. My gut tells me my grains were bad. Did yours smell like a dirty dish rag when you first got them? That just seems like a notable red flag. Sigh.
I’m trying again from a better source.
🌿💕🌿
Erica Gardens mine smelled yeasty-but definitely not mold. I think if kombucha works for you stick with it💕. The kefir in stores aren’t that healthy but the taste is correct.
