Oh, that's funny! I just came in from cutting and trimming trees with my chain saw! I'm 73 years old and have been using Kefir shakes with fruit and protein for the last ten years. I take care of a large house and hangar with 11 acres of property by myself. I know what you mean about joy, I can't stand myself sometimes because I'm so tickled with my life! I was a dancer until about six months ago and the people said they loved watching me because I was so joyful when I danced. I had to make a choice about caring for my place or dancing. I didn't have time to do both with this large property. I know I couldn't do what I do without the health benefits I receive from my Kefir. Thanks for all the great information! Love your site!

7 years ago I put my kefir grains to sleep, rinsed in milk, dried on the counter for a few hours, rolled and packed in powdered milk and frozen. 3 days ago I pulled them out of my freezer into the fridge for a day, then rinsed them in fresh milk. Started up a new brew, in dark warm cupboard with lid on and 24 hrs later I had delicious, fizzing kefir! Back to nursing my kefir grains again😘

It’s true about the energy and joy that I want to shout it from the rooftops too. I have spent so many years reading studies and research articles and I feel exactly as you. I’m living proof and I have never felt better today than even in my 20’s. My blood work came back better than ever. I have more than 1 autoimmune disease. I’m no longer diabetic or prediabetic. I no longer have hyperlipodemia. My Graves’ disease is in remission. My TSH levels came back the best they’ve ever been in over 6 years (normal). I’m scheduling my 6 month sonogram on my 4 thyroid nodules and I’m excited because they are harder to shrink than a VLDL level or blood. Glucose. I believe all autoimmune diseases are caused by the gut (leaky gut). All autoimmune diseases and cancers are due to inflammation. IMO . It is easier to change your lifestyle eating habits and control inflammation. My blood tests demonstrate that with a disease that creates more inflammation and is caused by inflammation. Studies have shown that Graves’ disease patient have leaky gut. I rarely ever eat refined sugar or gluten because I no longer crave it since replacing my own nutrient demands with nutrient rich foods opposed to processed foods often containing inflammatory ingredients that interfere with nutrient absorption. Magnesium bisglynate , niacin ( Enduracin wax matrix), liquid methyl B complex , vit d3, omega 3 fatty acids (2000 mg) have dramatically changed my mood and energy , my autoimmune diseases, diabetes, and my cardiovascular health. It has taken many stages to recover my gut function and I’m sure that I have a way to go. It is why I have chosen to begin making my own kefir this month. I began store bought for a few months after not having a lot of success purchasing various expensive probiotics. Prior steps included removing heavy metals through diet and promoting some die off through elimination diet , fiber , fruit and vegetable nutrients , and grass fed meat. I also removed most chemicals from my personal hygiene and housekeeping products. I never experienced an overwhelming process combating my illnesses because it’s an evolution of self care and it’s proactive when doctors are at a loss to help you with at least a few dozen symptoms over a lifetime. I look back at those symptoms more than 20 years later and it all makes sense. I want to yell it from the rooftops because I’ll never forget seeing others die (of preventable diseases) and my own experience feeling like I was dying and my physical and mental health was rapidly deteriorating. One never forgets daily debilitating pain that made me an invalid for nearly one year of my life. I would tell everyone get rid of all sugars and gluten (causing leaky gut and inflammation) except quality dairy, honey, fruits and veg. If you choose flour products choose gluten free. I love my gluten free sandwiches once or twice a week. My digestion has changed evidently in my A1c results so I occasionally enjoy a weekly “bakery “ item. That wasn’t until I detoxed much of the additives , chemicals, pesticides, and heavy metals from my system. I do liken it to a clean engine minus the additives. Home made kefir and tsp of powdered goat colostrum is one of the final phases of my own researched protocols. I was a certified First Responder and I know doctors have no clue about nutrition, autoimmune disease, or supplements. The requirement is not even a whole class in nutrition and root cause and prevention.
It is true , if you are frequently tired it is your nutrition and that really is our responsibility . I spent most of my life exhausted and always some drug was offered that never helped and instead often worsened my symptoms including brain fog and anxiety. @One day everyone will eat healthy because everyone eats healthy. “ I can only hope the public informs itself rather than buying into marketing for big food and big pharma. I hope our country becomes a little more discerning about propaganda and influencers selling products (including doctors). I have an autoimmune disease and haven’t gotten covid to date. No one in my home has working and students. I’m not anti pharmaceutical. I did vaccinate twice for covid. I was also aware of vaccine additives and made a personal choice. I am also supplementing k2 to prevent clots and osteoporosis. And always mindful of antioxidants through diet and supplementation. Most of the foods , flowers and herbs grown in my own kitchen garden are for their antioxidant value and polyphenols for inflammation. The culprit of disease.

You just enriched my life on a profound level talking about kefir. I don’t have the patience for podcasts and especially lengthy podcasts. But, I haven’t made water kefir since I went to bed for 4 years after many many losses and ended up here. Between your science rich content and your bleeding heart, I feel inspired to get back to rock climbing at Yosemite and eating from the farmers market to lose the 90 lbs. I gained from my situational depression that stemmed from physical infertility that led to mental infertility. These topics all need to be openly discussed and I can tell from your words you truly care about your viewers/subscribers well-being. Many blessings!

You can do it! It took me 3 mnths to reverse diabetes and hyperlipidemia. My triglycerides went from 480 to 80 in 3 months. In 4 months I lost 39 lbs , I reached my 47 lb goal without thinking or effort. I laid in bed physically ill from autoimmune disease and 4 herniated cervical discs, my autoimmune disease and excessive inflammation was due to stress, grief, and poor nutrition. I remember feeling like you! Wanting to do those things and find more passions. Healing is a process of self care. Thats all ! Practice self care daily. There are some simple supplements to address poor absorption from a poor diet until you reach the phase of being able to absorb your nutrients properly. Laying in bed means you should have yourself d3 levels checked by a doctor first and foremost. IMO eliminating gluten and refined sugar is non negotiable. While introducing nutrient rich foods. The changes mentally, emotionally, and physically blow my mind today. My blood tests were done every 3 months due to my illness so I had constant and measurable feedback that I was rapidly healing. Our bodies are miraculous. We can feed our brains with good thoughts and attitudes and we can eat our way back to good health. I’m not talking miracles, but in my case, my experience has been miraculous and I will never tire again because I now have the tools to self care. At some point we realize that the only one who can help us is ourselves. Restorative Yoga and learning breathing is a pretty radical change over the course of 6 months. I don’t think anything is more important than healing the gut and supporting nutrient absorption and intake.
You can do this, it does bring joy ! It heals and restores when you’re ready to make that choice for self care. 🙏

Love all your info on milk kefir. You mentioned putting the grains into the freezer. I’ve had success storing them in the fridge for over 2 years. It took probably 4 cycles of kefir making and a 2day soak in non chlorinated water to get the flavor right again but they all survived and are making beautiful delicious kefir from raw goat milk now. I’m excited to try some of your recipes soon!

Hi 😀! I’m new to your channel! I found your channel just yesterday! I purchased milk kefir grains , about 4 tbsp , the other day from someone on Craigslist. I made my first kefir yesterday with raw cows milk . I’ve been drinking raw cows milk for over a month now. I had my first taste of the kefir at 18 hrs. It had a slight sour taste but I had 1 glass full of it! I had it plain. The next batch I will let it sit 24 hrs. Thank you for your vids! I am going to make this for my youngest son who is non verbal autistic. ❤

I wonder if kefir would help make collagen more digestible -- I tried collagen a couple years ago during my pre-kefir life, and it bloated me something awful. LOL, yikes. KEFIR IS THE BEST! I started doing it a year ago when my digestion had been going completely haywire (still don't know what it was, menopause maybe), and I felt a difference immediately and have kept using it since.

I just posted in a local group I belong to and asked if anyone had any kefir grains or kombucha scoby and within an hour I connected with someone who had some and by the end of the day I had gone to pick them up. She even had some extra supplies and jars that she passed on to me that she said someone had passed on to her and she had more than she needed. Put the word out locally and I bet you will find them. Maybe try going to your local health food store and see if anyone there has some. They multiply so quickly that anyone who makes kefir is going to have some and probably be happy to pass them on.
