What I love about Loser Baby is that it doesn't try to be like "noo everything will be OK:]" it's more like "yeah things suck but you're not alone and together maybe we can make things a little better over time or something" which I feel like is such a more real and better lesson for so many people
This episode is heartbreaking and certain parts of Poison I can’t watch but it’s such a clear depiction of Angel’s horrid situation and his pain and the scene between Husk and Angel +Loser Baby is honestly my favorite scene
This episode destroyed me. At the end of poison when Angels voice broke, I did too. Then, when I thought I couldn't keep watching, Husker-Dust came on and hit the top of my play-list.
They did us dirty with that one. Released it a few days before the season... we all instantly rocketed it to the top of replay lists. We kinda knew what it was generally about. Like a successor to Addict. Then we all saw episode 4 and realized that no... this was so much worse than Addict could ever have imagined. And we all felt dirty for liking the song. It really brought us into the hurt and pain as we loved the song, and then saw behind the curtain and mask.
Spoiler free Easter Egg time. 1) In the opening scene, Angel Dust is seen wearing his pilot outfit (the first episode of S1 takes part one week after the Pilot) 2) Vaggie asks Charlie about using her power as Princess of Hell because of Hell Hierarchy. She is 3 Ranks higher than the Overlords (being only overruled by Lucifer and Lillith) 3) The pink smoke that comes out of Valentino's cigarettes are actually part of his powers. He's able to change its form into anything (as seen when he chains up Angel) 4) On the contract, Angel Dust/Anthony actually signed it with a heart which could imply him and Valentino had a previous relationship. 5) On the clapboard it says "69 420. 666.13". 69 because of the sex position, 420 surrounding the consumption of cannabis (could also be what Valentino's smoke tastes like), 666 for the number associated with Satan and 13 being seen as an unlucky number. 6) Angel dancing in the Poison music video could be seen as him dissociating and the stage boards showing what he thinks is going on. 7) On Husk's bar, there's a neon sign that says "Beelzjuice" which is a reference to Beelzebub, the sin of Gluttony (who's voiced by Kesha) 8) The drug that the shark uses to try and spike Angel's drink has a similar look to Valentino's smoke, showing that he could be selling aphrodisiacs. 9) In the Loser Baby dance sequence, Husk always holds his hand out and waits for Angel to take it rather than grabbing it. 10) On the light board sequence, Husk's has an arrow pointing to him that says "no balls" making people think he's neutered. 11) How Angel has all the guns is that he was part of a mob family when he was alive so he's always been around that sort of thing and when you die, sinners take on forms similar to that of your appearance before death & to do with your personality.
Angeldust and Husk became my favorite characters of this series with this episode. I am obsessed with seeing peoples' reactions to it. Poison and Loser Baby are also my favorite songs of the series. I absolutely loved it. And your screaming reactions had me grinning ear to ear.
What i love about this episode is that Angel and Husk start to open up to each other and realize they have a lot more in common than they think then start to become friends 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

My theory, is Valentino is based off a Faithful Beauty Moth. A moth that secretes poison. But it's only poisonous to humans when ingested, he's a treacherous horrible person, with an ugly personality. And like the irl moth, he is literal poison. Angel is being emotionally, mentally, and physically poisoned by him. The physical poison is to keep him complacent. It's likely addictive too. back in the poison sequence in episode 4. Valentino's saliva is red. The smoke from his cigar is also red. When he smoked from Angel's cigarette (that had white smoke), he exhaled his red smoke. Either his saliva makes the smoke, or he makes the smoke itself. When he blows the smoke in his face, he gets dizzy, almost smiling. Like he's been drugged. at the end of the Poison sequence once you wipe your tears. As Angel goes into his room/ going to the balcony, you see pink/ red stuff coming from his mouth. Like he's just eaten something. Angel isn't just sick of his poisonous life. He's also sick from literal poison. Val is the poison.
A small detail I noticed while watching poison is if you look closely might notice that in the scene where the bass first drops, Angel has his pink outfit he also has an accessory that makes him look like he has a spider-like abdomen and he has that during the dance with Valantino,But then in the next shot after Val pushes him away he loses,This is due to the fact when Val pushed him he had also torn it off Angel which could be another way of reflecting the SA Exploitation rape and abuse he always has to endure,it’s small but I noticed it on a re watching of the music video and wanted to point out a fun fact
I'm glad that they actually addressed how Angel keeps pushing Husk's boundaries. I know people were already shipping them before the fourth episode came out but him being all suggestive and flirty to Husk even though he was clearly uncomfortable made even me kinda uncomfortable. Sure it was played for laughs and it was Angel putting on a mask, but still.
A little note and headcanon I have, if you look at the guns angel has, which are based of the M1928 drum magazine thompson smg, the M3 grease gun and uses, and when he died being 1947, he either learned to use them as a mafia member, as that's part of his family most likely. But I think that it would be very interesting if he was injured in ww2 and died as an overdose trying to cope with the pain and that would explain his competency with the guns.

This episode breaks everyone. It's a brutal and extremely hard to watch depiction of physical and sexual abuse. They don't hide behind cliche phrases or hinting. They walk right up to that line and slide their toes over... often cutting away in shots just before it veers into something they can't legally show. It isn't glossed iver, it isn't glamourized. You see the fear and heartbreak in Angel as his mask cracks for a second or two here or there. Before he disassociate again. You can see how much it is killing him to kick Charlie out... the one person in all of hell who believes in him... believes he is better than this and deserves more. And you can see how it is destroying him as Val makes him repeat "Yes Val" over and over. And finally the line to Husk that he hopes if he breaks himself enough, if he ruins his body so much, maybe Val won't want him any more. God that hurts to hear. Husk is exactly the friend Anthiny has needed. Someone who isn't fooled by his masks. Someone who sees him as he is and appreciates him. He left the hotel angry as Angel, but he came back with Husk as Anthony, with friends who actually care about him and now understand him. People he doesn't have to wear the mask for any more. A place he can be safe and rest from the exhaustion of always pretending to be fine when inside you are dying and broken to your core. Can you imagine the mental conpartmentalization gymnastics he must go through just to make it through a single day? You just wanna give the guy a hug.
I know there is a massive shipdom for HuskerDust. Personally, I hope it is just platonic. Angel is always coming on to his as part of his persona. Anthony is different. The real friendship is far more powerful for both of them than any relationship ever could be. Everyone needs a Husk to call them out and keep them real.
I'm pretty sure it's not a fourth wall break,I think I the singing is real. Most of the singers have at least one soul. Angel has half a soul the better singers are overlords or angelic. Angelic song is a whole thing. I think their power comes from song.
