As for Poison... it takes it several steps beyond the real world porn industry. This is hell. And Angel sold his literal eternal soul to Val. For what we dont know yet but the terms were Val has complete and total control of him in the studio. Non consensual. There is not quitting. There is no safe word. There is no out. For eternity. And thebsong gets progressively uglier. Starts out him singing amd dancing along. Able to disassociate and make believe its glamourus. Bybthe end it is into actual rape territory. He cant even disassociate mentally any more and identical shots that were him singing before are now him screaming. You see fear and panic on his face as he tries to cover it. He is drugged repeatedly. And in the end he is begging for death. E:cept he already is. It is dark in a way very few scenes in any show have ever gone. They walked right up to the line of showing things amd only stopped at the last possible frame to make sure you get just how messed up and NOT glam this is. It is a hell within hell.
I love listening to the nuances in character themes for songs (like you didnt know) because _especially_ there you can hear them so clearly in the background music
Gosh hazbin hotel songs always a bop on repeat. I got recommend if you like amazing musical. Its not show but animatic by different amazing artists who love this musical album. Whatever It Takes was always a deeply powerful song. What it says about Carmilla and Vaggie both... taking the pain amd hits tonprotect the ones they love. But at the end of the season... it hits a whole lot harder. Vaggie knowing just how much she owes to Charlie... nothing short of the real and literal meaning of love and forgiveness. And Carmilla, literally the overlord who runs the guns in hell... she refuses to let it out that angels can be killed becausebshe wont risk her daughters in what that might lead to.
I love that Out For Love is a direct call back to the underlying message from Whatever It Takes. Carmilla was willing to do whatever it took, BECAUSE OF LOVE for her daughters. So here she gives that lesson to Vaggie. Vaggie is strong, she's ruthless, she is a really good fighter... but all the hate in the world isn't as powerful a motivation as the love for a single person and wanting to protect them. How is this show so damn wholesome?! lol.
I thinkbthe real power of Looser isnt the youve got company, though Angel definitely needed that... but the bit atbthebend: "Its time to loose the self loathing excuse yourself let hope in" Husks whole deal with Angel has always been the fake ass facade he always wears. Thisbepisode isnliterally called masquerade. Its okay... you are who you arem so am I. You dont need to pretend. Youve got us who care about you not the image. Just be you. Its okay.
