It has taken me until age 71 to feel really serene. Hungarian by birth and upbringing, I lived in England for 41 years, working hard and bringing up 3 children. Earned my pension that enables me now to rent a flat in Sicily. I am very proud of myself for resisting all the pressures over the last 4+ years. I have been in a happy relationship for 4 years. Am fit and well, and wake with a smile every morning
Wow, thank you for sharing your beautiful story. It’s so inspiring to see how life’s journey can lead to such peace and happiness, even after so many challenges. You’ve worked so hard, and it’s wonderful to hear that you’re now enjoying the rewards of that-living in a lovely place, staying fit, and waking up with a smile every day. Your resilience and positivity shine through, and it’s clear you’ve built a life to be truly proud of. Wishing you many more serene and happy mornings ahead. God bless you more
The Partisan is my favourite Leonard Cohen song. (I sang it on a train thru Europe to some thuggy, scary men, with my guitar. They mellowed. I think it saved my life. The lyrics burn in my heart, it's a very powerful song, along with guitar chords that hold the story strongly. 🌱💜
Stress and feeling powerless can affect all of us. This video with Gabor Mate really opened my eyes to how much our beliefs and experiences shape our lives. I’d love to hear your thoughts: Do you think we can truly break free from the stress caused by society and our past? Let’s start a kind and open conversation in the comments. I've worked a tremendous amount most of my 60 years now on healing high-level childhood trauma. Let me be sincere; it has been a bit challenging. VERY. I've kept going even when I lacked energy or desire, but I'm not a quitter. It took so long for the awakenings to open enough to honestly feel the raw pain of it all. I have worked hard and never given up, and it seems to be paying off in some ways and yet not in others. I am trying to surrender more and not need to know everything. Trusting myself is something I work on every day. I believe there is no destination for me; I am learning to enjoy the journey with all its ups and downs. I wish that for all of you, too.
Thank you so much for sharing your story with such courage and honesty. Your journey of healing and perseverance is truly inspiring. It takes so much strength to keep going, especially when the path feels long and uncertain. I admire your dedication to working through the pain and learning to trust yourself more each day. Surrendering and embracing the journey, even when it’s not easy, is such a beautiful perspective. It shows how much wisdom you’ve gained along the way. Your words about enjoying the ups and downs resonate deeply. Life may not always bring us the answers we hope for, but the growth and self-love you’re cultivating are invaluable. I wish you continued strength, healing, and peace on this incredible journey. Thank you for reminding us all to keep going, no matter where we are in our own paths
I love this and it reinforces the things I’ve been already doing for over one year. My inner child gets finally acknowledged. She is worthy of all good things coming to her! It’s not my fault and I am not broken, it’s only my (false) programming. Thank you Dr. Gabor Mate!
Wow, this video really hit home for me. Gabor Mate's insights about how our early experiences shape our beliefs and how societal stress impacts us are so powerful. It’s comforting to hear that we’re not broken and that healing is possible by understanding and challenging these limiting beliefs. 🌟 Thank you for sharing such a deep and meaningful conversation-it’s definitely made me reflect on my own life. 🙏
All the positivity in the world will not change the world from where you sit except with a complete overhaul of conditions. A poor person can't become rich without a plan to work for more money, a Person of color has no choice in how they are treated within a racist society, a woman can be attacked anywhere in the world at anytime because there is no one to save her from a random bad guy. If you're a person of the LGBTQ community and society decides that they all should die for the greater good, how is my feeling a sense of positivity in my life going to change any of those things? I would like someone who has actually overcome things that are significant to explain it to me because as I see it, It just doesn't make any sense logically.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts so honestly. You’ve brought up very real and painful truths about the challenges so many people face in the world. It’s true that positivity alone can’t fix systemic issues or erase injustice overnight. Change often requires action, plans, and sometimes even deep struggle. Positivity, though, isn’t about pretending things are perfect. It’s about finding small moments of hope or strength, even when life feels overwhelming. For someone who feels powerless, that little spark can be the first step toward change, whether it’s building a plan, finding allies, or standing up against unfairness. I understand it’s hard to believe in positivity when the weight of the world feels so heavy. And you’re right, hearing from people who’ve overcome significant challenges can inspire hope. Sometimes, their stories remind us that while we can’t control everything, there’s power in how we respond and in the connections we make with others. I really appreciate your comment because it sparks an important conversation. You’re not alone in feeling this way, and I hope you find people who inspire you and make you feel seen and heard. Sending warmth and respect. bless you
Livining feeling out of control of your circumstances is worse than awful! Those poor people. I feel the same way about Trump and the MAGA republicans America voted in.😢 as far as the English Parliment and these English individuals.
