Good Show...I'm 63 and this show was the hottest thing on TV in the 80s..The more it went on, the weirder it got..so I suppose it just ran its course with the viewers, but when it was hot, it was fun to watch, good named musicians starred in it....Phil Collins, Eric Clapton, Frank Zappa, a host of others.
Nah the only weird season was the 4th. and that was REALLY weird. A lot of people dont like the 5th and final season because of the darker gritty tone but i still thought it was pretty good
@@fredwilson1188 3 and 4 were by far the weirdest and most disturbing. Missing Hours, Shadow in the Dark, Death and the Lady, etc. I actually really liked quite a bit of five too and the darker, brooding atmosphere of it. Tim Truman's edgy score was awesome too.
I was a kid, but I remember this was the hottest thing on TV at the time. I had no idea what was going on with the plot, I just watched to catch a glimpse of the Testarossa, not to mention all the other iconic cars. The white Countach, Lotus Esprit, Porsche 930, and Lamborghini Jalpa!
Just watched this today. Storming finale to a wonderful show. Couldn't help but notice that Baker was one of the baddies smashed up by Riggs in Lethal Weapon 2.
Yes! and Yes! Always thought this was a poignant and memorable end to this crime drama. Forgot about him in Lethal Weapon 2. Mr Riggs fucked him up real good, lol. He didn't have a chance with him.
I'll agree - Crockett was burning out and a showdown was inevitable. Baker was the match, but the powderkeg was already there. But it was fitting to go out guns blazing and making sure that - for once - they got to do it their way and get the bad guy while standing their ground.
If you see the run of the show, somehow Crockett adds 4-6yr of time to his 👮🏻♂️ career. In the start he says he was working for 12yr but in 1989 he claims 18-20(depending on the episode). Crockett also worked robbery & was a police cadre, academy so by 1989 it would seem his career would be near 20. A different SE Asia veteran character says he knew Sonny in 1972 so that also throws off the character back story.
Wow this brings back memories 😅 was a whole lifetime ago,I'm 45 now I was 15 when this episode came out,I love when Crocket tells Baker DO IT IF YOU GOT THE STONES
Look how small those 80's SUVs were that those Federal spooks were driving around in. Today it's nothing but huge big ass Tahoes, Suburbans, and Expeditions.
By "controversial" i meant in a political way as the governament or CIA (Baker) had their interest in setting General Borbon free for their cover operations in central America. That sounds more that a bell!
I thought the late 1980s Shaggy Sonny with torn 👖 & long flowing hair 🧔🏼 was a tad dated. Rico seemed smoother & more mature as the show goes on. Sonny went from spikey punky style hair to shaggy.
One of the neat things I remember from back then, about this episode: Near to the time of its airing, the Feds did get a drug lord/kingpin type out of some Latin country. I can't remember the details, but I read about it in the news, and a little while later this episode aired--with more or less that very plot point.
The subject matter on this show is as relevant today as was 30 years ago. Replace 'fighting communism with the War on Terror, replace Colombian cartels with Mexican ones, El Chapo instead Escobar. The heroin is flowing from Southwest Asia(Afghanistan,Pakistan)not southeast Asia(Thailand,Burma). Russia is still the Enemy (what a joke) with an economically and military powerful China(( a situation we caused by our greed) on its side. Millions of. Americans are as addicted to prescription drugs as they are illegal ones. Yeah, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Great show though, tv at it's finest.

"I'll back you." The most important line in that scene. Showed that Castillo would always stand with them.
Yep
Castillo. The very definition of loyalty.
Too bad the whole team wasn't together to back them
That exact moment when the 80's died
Yup
@@spaceforce-girlforcejjwest2048 That's a fact
Notice how Crocket borrows a line from Evan there? "If you got the stones..."

Ohhhhhhhh, amazing.. If ever you wanted a definition of manliness under extreme duress, watch this video.
Omg. This was back in 1989. This episode and the season 2 episode 1 are on point for what is going on in the world today.
That look on Baker's face when Castillo stepped in. UH-OH!
Castillo has friends in high places. He was ex DEA
@@kbhalacy He was CIA😉
Maybe Crockett hung out in NYC with Tubbs for a while, after he left miami :)
When I was a teen, younger adult I thought NBC added the Castillo bit to set up a TV movie or Miami Vice film update, 3-4 years later.

On a side note, I really do believe Riggs could take on and destroy many of Seagal's characters.
He was also in I Come in Peace aka Dark Angel.

why not...their free ( big ass Tahoes, Suburbans, and Expeditions.)
It is funny when you compare the resources they used in Sicario to this.
LOL when the squad of feds loc'd and aimed their weapons in sync. How many times they had to rehearse that and it still looked sloppy AF
That's in FLETC Glynco GA 😉.

One of TV's great crime fighting duos.
Don johnsons hair looks good here. Kind of like the blond version of sly stallone in rambo. Its around the same time too.

Its a very touching finale and i think it deserved to end on a positive note, actually.
Thanks Earl the greatest show all time
Can someone explain to me why there was a couple more episodes after this when this is supposed to be the final ep.
They were "lost episodes" that never originally aired, but were filmed
Captain real estate was meant to be the bad guy not the general
Best cop show ever period
Do it if you got the got the stones
Ian McShane plays the role of General borbone great
I wish NCIS:LA would do an episode like this when the show end it's run.
I thought it was perfect.
Mr Baker was very cold and ruthless
Classic ending! 👮🏻♂️
The actor playing Baker played the zombie Bub in George Romero's Day of the dead
G gorden liddy was meant to be in it as the bad guy not bourbon
He probably was committed to other projects that's why he couldn't do it or he lost interest in it
0:06-0:11 all in a night's work

You talk about Panama. It was the main inspiration
Thats Bub from Day of the Dead Lol
Holy shit!
don't mess with Bub, you'll end up like Captain Rhodes.
There is an ending I read about where crocket and tubbs die
Multiple endings were filmed where one or both of them die.
How many guys did the colonel bring with him?
Everything looks like a CIA job audition when Castillo is involved and Crockett and tubbs repeatedly remind them they are corrupt

I thought Rico get killed on this episode
@Ebb1993isgreat - They blew him out of the sky, so yeah, I guess there was.
I uploaded hd version
