I use 30# braid main to either 20# or 15# mono leader. I use the Alberto knot. It is quick and easy to tie, and has never failed. Even when catching a rock, and I have to break off, the leader breaks and has never broken at the knot.

Some of the comments disagreed, but I have had 8 lb mono slide out of the FG knot with 20 lb braid. It could be that I'm not good at tying the FG, but either way, I need something different.

I will have to give it a try, but I’ll never give up my own take on the Alberto and Albright knot. I call it the Hybrid Alberto. It works with even or uneven line sizes from 4# mono to 20# braid or 20# mono to 85# braid. I haven’t broken the knot since I’ve found the correct steps and technique. It’s probably different than how anyone else does it and I don’t have to put nearly the amount of pressure that some knots require. It’s just a quick sturdy jerk and it’s done and I finish it so the knot has a tiny taper to go through the line guide and rod eyes. It also only takes me about a minute to retie another leader on. This one seems quicker, but looks like you have to make sure to “set” the knot correctly with a lot of pressure. It’s hard to change from what works for you. Thanks for sharing this.

Nice tutorial but FG is slimmer, faster, stronger and easyier.

My goal is to not have to look down and tie any knots while on the ocean 🤮 haha or maybe just peddle over to my nearest friend and have them do it. Closer than going back to shore at least 🤷‍♂️

SC knot--nah. It's an old one called the Yucatan. It works on the same principle as the FG, the so-called finger-trap knot. Both rely on cinching the knot down very snugly as you showed here.

Hmmm too many wraps, there is no way you can tighten the last 10 or so as much as the say 15 in front so go down to 15 and u actually get a stronger better knot...

      I'll try that.

@@MooMooOutdoors try both with a weight and see what it does cus my experience is based on the FG but i assume it works the same way with the amount of wraps on both knots.

I don't trust this knot. About half the time I tie it, the whole knot slides on the mono and won't allow it to be cinched tite

Nope, I try it, i don't like it one bit, sorry .... FG Knot is still my best knot, it not how easy the knot tie, the important thing is how strong the knot is, i'm not going loose a fish because i want to be lazy tying my knot, regrets is not something i like to think of later
