- in these crazy times/ SHTF you have to protect your homestead.
I do go over the importance of the Dakota alerts MURS driveway alarm system
dakotaalert.com/product-categ...
I go over security cameras, signage, Thermal, guns, and more.
Times are crazy and you need to secure your homestead!

Sounds like you are the kind neighbor most people want and need.
I hope so!
Other ideas:
- Secondary gate to stop vehicles.
After the main entry (with silent alarm), and clear BIG notices warning people they are already inside a private property, have a second place in the main road with a gate where people must stop and announce themselves to some intercom system. Maybe even having some small shelter to receive deliveries in case you can't open the gate (small, but big enough for the things you are usually wanting to receive). You can have it with a door, and some lock with numeric code, and include the code in the delivery request for example in the end of the address like "delivery shelter code: 2637" so the delivery person can open it and leave the stuff inside (doesn't work if you have to sign, but for those deliveries that don't require it, will be a good solution). And change the code from time to time making sure there aren't any deliveries to arrive with the old code... or that the old code will also work with the new code and then after a while remove the old one.
These is to make sure if someone does steal something they really are doing inside your property and with perimeter alarms and CCTV you can take measures to react to intrusions. Also if people don't even see the delivery shelter maybe they wont even go there in the first place.
The gate inside the property after the main entry is also to make people stop, and have them think twice before going on, or at least delaying. Having a gate that people can't just go through with their vehicle would also be nice.
- Good security fence around main house and other important structures around it.
These is to really make it clear that is totally private space that people must not cross without proper authorization. Also is more easy to have CCTV properly installed with cables and all of that to make it professionally installed, and also more efficient perimeter alarms.
You may be able to better defend yourself if people are not inside your home or near the wall of the house... but still outside of the house perimeter security fence.
Test, if you are outside how would you go around that defenses, specially if you don't care about anything and just want the stuff inside no matter what.
Test, if there are 12 well armed people outside wanting to get in by force even if some of them die, how will make them stop? Specially without yourself dying.
- Good security wall around the main house and other important structures around it.
If snipers or hunters may be a real threat a good security wall around the main infra-structure may be interesting to make it harder to take a bullet either on purpose (sniper) or by mistake (hunter).
Together with a good security fence before getting into the security wall, before getting into the house, I guess people will think twice if they really want to do the wrong thing.
- Secondary house fully equipped.
It is more likely that your house will burn than you are attacked. Having a secondary home in the property, also properly protected is also a nice idea so if something does happen to your main house you just relocate to the secondary house that is already ready to receive you.
- Sprinkler system to protect the main infra-structure from wild fires. Must not depend on energy, because more likely than not there won't be any electricity when the fire is near the house.
There is also special foams around in the market that people can spray their house a certain time before the fire arrives that can prevent the fire from destroying the house.
If people throw incendiary bombs to make you go out of home, inside sprinkler system may be a good idea. And also protection such that people can't have things go trough walls, windows and doors.
- Full fire protection to protect yourself inside and outside, be it a wild fire, or someone trying to make your house burn to make you come out.
Thanks for that information! Lots of good topics and ideas!
A Lifestraw in your bugout bag and a home over the door tote Lifestraw for families could very well be super important.
I have a bunch of lifestraws!
Nice "Neighborhood Warlord" patch!!! That is something a psychopath would wear!
No doubt! First person to notice and comment on that!
I would recommend putting signs with the primary message on regular size print, then go small print and a long winded blah, blah, blah message. Why? They will waste time reading while you set your sights if needed. Past the sign if they make it leave behind a distraction. Example a clay pot with a lid and a colorful ribbon coming from the inside the pot. They will slow down to feed their curiosity.
Just my .2¢
Thank you for sharing it was a great video.
Thanks for some additional ideas! Always trying to learn new stuff. Thanks again
God bless you too!
Thanks!
Not all neighbors are good neighbors. They can possibly become the threat as well.
that is true, We have one set of neighbors that we joke have the plan to eat us. Hopefully not true but you never know.....
This is helpful, thank you for making it available. I’m on my own implementing security on our 2 acres in Georgia and at the end of the day it’s overwhelming. I get deep into the overall approach mentally, and then start questioning myself… wanna throw in the towel some days haha.
Just keep going a little at a time. Lots of little bites to eat an elephant
Good stuff. I have the Dakota MURS and love it. I do need to convert to a 12v battery and solar.
the best thing ever! I used some jumpers to the transmitter box (no cutting or splicing). If I get time I'll take a photo of it. then old ATV battery and harbor freight solar panel.
I like your insight on Dakota. We have the driveway alarms... which never miss a human or car, but false alarm a bit. It'll work for now. But definitely want a thermal. Another use for thermal are predators. We have coyotes around here and right now is their breeding season.
I have been using my thermal for coyotes too! It is so useful! yea our Dakota does some false alarms especially during lightning
Pitch of a voice for red green lol
Great ideas. We have 4 aces which is not huge but we have one property line on the opposite side of a wooded stream that I need to have eyes on due to new neighbors trying to build an adverse possession claim against that part of our land (I dont want to lose it to them). It is too far for my house WiFi. What camera do you recommend given the lack of WiFi connectivity? I've tried a couple Apeman H45 Trail Cams but they are too susceptible to false alarms from birds chirping and leaves moving etc... Thanks
I'm in the same boat looking at cellular trial cams. there is one that my friend uses that is around $100 plus $10 Monthly charge that I"m looking at. He has a lot of them with good luck. I'll get the model
@@HomesteadReliance Moultrie Delta Base have been very good so far. Verizon network cellular. $10 month for 1000 photos. Only false alarm was a squirrel climbing vertical up a tree. $40 or so for the camera.
@@avlifesavers I have been looking at cellular cameras. I will have to take a look at that model
Do you have like a thermal device you just point? Also where did you purchase ?
I have a weapon mounted thermal and a hand held flir scout tk that I got for under $500 (weapon mounted one was closer to $2000 [hogster]). I got the night vision guys dot com. The flir I got from B&H photo (holster is much better)
Also consider buying a 2-3x larger set of colored t shirts as to give the impression that you have suffered hunger like every one else and only Boil your food no grilling, so as to not announce to everyone you have a bbq going on during Shtf. Multivitamins are huge as well for all of the nutrients you won’t be taking in.
Good ideas!
@@HomesteadReliance thanks
Your welcome. I’m also going to start planting now for spring potatoes and in the spring I’m planting purple hull peas. They will feed the soil with nitrogen as well as us in our community. Also learning how to live without electricity is also very important for most peoples survival. There’s power in numbers and cooperation. Love your videos as well keep up your work, Jesus loves you and sees your heart.
@@Marcosworld77 thanks for the kind words! I wish I was not so busy working on the property so I could post more videos. I'm trying. Since we switched to solar/ battery we have been watching our usage and cutting it down more and more. Some day that may not work either and we need to be ready for that. God Bless!
A Duel Fuel gas / propane generator would be ideal for recharging a solar lifepo4 battery bank during winter months. Say if you have a 12k inverter that can handle up to 12k of power input it would take you no time to charge up your lithium batteries. This is a lot better than gasoline because propane stores indefinitely whereas gasoline is maybe a year and a half with stabil. This is just my opinion, I’m no expert by any means.
We have looked at that as we have 1000gal propane tank for hot water
You forgot your helmet and nods.
And thermal
