Looking forward to Marvel United, Marvel Smash Up, Marvel Splendor, and Marvel Villainous. And if you’re reading this in the future, the inevitable Marvel Pandemic, Marvel Azul, Marvel Descent, Marvel Carcassonne, Marvel Catan...
Sorry to be so offtopic but does anybody know a trick to get back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly forgot the account password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me!
I'm an X-Men guy primarily, and there has been nothing in the gaming space that really appeals to me enough. Definitely hoping that changes once they enter the MCU. And I don't want to have to wade through Captain America and Iron Man to get there either. An X-men game with base entry that are all X-men characters. And I'd be into stuff that is NOT just a card game too. I am REALLY enjoying the new Krakoa relaunch of the XMen comic line by writer Jonathan Hickman, very exciting time to be an XFan. Start with House of X/Powers of X....
I must admit I was sceptical for marvel United and MCU wasn’t a big enough draw. Positive reviews Followed by a fun first play and ease of introducing it, and deep comic faithful X-men lore...yeah, nailed it.
Marvel Heroes is amazing, but most people will never know. The rules are great. The rulebook however, is probably the worst in my whole collection. Learning the game was a chore. We played it many times before figuring out how to play it correctly. The helps I downloaded from Boardgamegeek were a Godsend. Most people will dislike the game never knowing they were playing it incorrectly. Such a shame since the game is wonderful for many reasons. We have never tired of this game after playing it for many years. It contains massive fun and replayability. I personally love it more than most others on Tom's list, though I'm impressed that he sees through the game's poor rulebook and discovered that this game is good. Great pick Tom!
I have Marvel Contest of Champions Battlerealm but never played it! My two favorite would definitely be Legendary Marvel and Marvel Champions! Looking forward to Marvel Uniited!
What about Marvel VS System? I feel they had more to choose from than Overpower. Oh, and the short lived Marvel Attacktix, so much fun! Sadly they only got about a dozen figures and stopped while Star Wars and Transformers got more. Really would have loved to see them do G.I. Joe Attacktix too.
The problem with VS is that it felt like a Magic variant with a comic theme slapped on. Overpower on the other hand was and still to this day is a very unique and exciting game that really captures the comic book feel. I agree with Tom's list.
I’m sad that the announced Marvel Heroscape expansions never happened. My favorite Marvel game that isn’t on the list is Codenames Marvel, which I combine with Duet and play with my nephew who can’t read yet.
Looking to invest in a new marvel board game and I really enjoyed this. Curious to know if you have played any and would have an update with the new games that have come out. Thanks!
I predict that in a year or two Tom will rank Marvel Champions higher than Marvel Legendary. Right now it’s just not as diverse as Legendary with the huge head start on content.
Heroclix is totally awesome with the rules and insane amount of characters. However, most characters need to remodify (which I did) as they arent comic accurate and are imbalance. E.g normal Captain America with impervious (really?!) #1 for me after modification (playing with my own private group). Definitely #7-9 for me (during the times I played in public competive group)
Hey everybody. Don't keep sleeping on Dice Masters! Amazing sets are still being released to this day, and it's easily the best bag builder on the market. Incredibly underrated game that can provide a casual play experience and scratch a strategic competitive itch. The fact that I barely care about the theme yet still love the game, should speak to how strong the underlying mechanics are. Here's my recommendation: Pick up the reasonably priced X-Men Forever LCG format campaign box. It comes with 76 character cards, a bunch of dice, and everything two players need to play against each other.
ive almost bought that Xmen forver box, as Im a huge Xmen fan primarily. But i read that it doesnt include enough dice in box to field a full team. Can you help me understand how big a deal that is for casual 2 player play, and how much id really need to supplement the single purchase to have a "good enough" experience? if it needs more dice, is there a way to get enough purely xmen dice easily to synergize with it and call it a day? thanks for the insight since you know it, ive been reluctant to that as a single purchase. check this thread: boardgamegeek.com/thread/2190497/not-enough-dice-box
@@jamesabele Hey James! What that thread is referring to, is that each character has a maximum of four of dice that can be brought to a match. The campaign boxes only give you 3 dice on average for each character. For example, each player can BRING up to four Professor-X dice, but unless you buy two campaign boxes or have Professor-X dice from previous sets, you'll only have 3 dice between the two of you available. Bringing four dice to a match is not the same as having the ability to field them. You may bring four Professor-X dice, but only purchase one or two of them during the match. Not having max dice is not a big deal for many reasons: #1) Each player may have some cross-over, but will likely build teams using different character cards. #2) You can draft, which avoids the max dice issue almost entirely. #3) You can substitute similar dice if you NEED to have that extra Professor-X dice. #4) The Game allows for a total of 20 dice on your team. You often will not waste 4/20 slots on one character. #5) Good players often only use one or two dice per character. You are building a TEAM, not purchasing everything available for a single character. #5) Many characters, like Professor-X, are too expensive in game or have abilities that do not stack. They do not warrant purchasing more than one of their dice. If you are looking for X-Men only, you can purchase the other two X-Men (Uncanny X-Men, X-Men First Class) sets on Ebay. X-Men First Class is an excellent set but is unfortunately very rare and expensive. I feel there is still enough content within the campaign box you are looking at to know if you like the game and have a "good enough" experience.
@@InteractionImplants what should I buy if I want all the main characters from the 90s cartoon? I'm afraid of buying people's used sets. They probably took the best cards/dice?
I didn’t like Legendary, because it’s not fully cooperative. Kind of sucks that you have to compete and win against other players in a coop game. Dumb idea. Destroyed it for me.
Agree with number #1! Since last month, I'm playining a diferent scheme (at least) every day!!
Marvel Descent sounds amazing.
@@pawjack I want it
Oh crap!! Now I have to make more room on my shelves.
Lol

Dude, can I just say you are the man.
So clear and concise.
Since AEG acknowledged its existence, keep an eye out for Smash Up: Marvel.
I'm really loving Marvel: Crisis Protocol
Great list! I didn't realize there were so many different Marvel games. Great #1!
Legendary deserves #1! :D
I'd be interested to see where Marvel United falls now that you've played that. Same with Marvel Villainous or if that would even make the list now!
MU was top 20 for Tom 2023, top 10 for Zee 2023 so i imagine it would be quite high on the list if done today
#10. Marvel Heroes
#9. Heroclix
#8. 5 minute marvel
#7. Thanks Rising
#6. Heroscape
#5. Overpower
#4. Hail Hydra
#3. Dice Masters
#2. Marvel Champions
#1. Marvel Legendary
No love for Vs System? Either version would be halfway up my Top 10...
Never realised there were so many! Agree with your #1 pick.
My list
1. Marvel Crisis Protocol
2. Marvel Champions
3. Thanos Rising
4. Marvel Legendary
5. 5 Minute Marvel
6. Hail Hydra
Legendary legendary legendary !!!!
Crisis protocol is amazing, its #1 even considering champions and heroclix.
Naaaah, that game is way too expensive. $40 for Hulk, and you have to cut it out, glue it, and paint it?
No thank you.
Shop around, i got my hulk for 25. Wargaming is expensive in general, so its not as big an issue for me.
The price is pretty bad but once you're playing it the game is so much fun
Love Legendary!

+1
Hope you know about the X-men Kickstarter going on
Cody M ha, thanks, and yes. When I saw how deep they were going with characters, and the villains and comic storylines...all in. X-men United
I must admit I was sceptical for marvel United and MCU wasn’t a big enough draw. Positive reviews Followed by a fun first play and ease of introducing it, and deep comic faithful X-men lore...yeah, nailed it.
I’m putting Champions at #1. :D
Agreed, Legendary should be first.
Time to make an updated video!

There was an Image Comics Overpower? Woah!
There were some Image HeroClix too.
I have Marvel Contest of Champions Battlerealm but never played it! My two favorite would definitely be Legendary Marvel and Marvel Champions! Looking forward to Marvel Uniited!
Awesome list! We really like THANOS RISING. 5 Minute Marvel is quick and light.
Tom, did you want my Overpower Cards? Trying to figure out what to do with them and I can't bring myslef to throw them out. :/

I agree with Tom's list.
My favorite is Infinity Gauntlet: Love Letter. Though, when Marvel Splendor comes in, that will probably be it.
Shocked! Shocked how that top three ended.
I’m sad that the announced Marvel Heroscape expansions never happened.
My favorite Marvel game that isn’t on the list is Codenames Marvel, which I combine with Duet and play with my nephew who can’t read yet.

Glad to see 5 Minute Marvel on your list. I've been hoping for expansions but some on bgg think support has ended for it
5 Minute Dungeon only ever had one expansion and as far as I can tell it’s out of print. So I’m assuming Marvel’s not getting any
Champions>Legendary
Good list, id switch around numbers 1 and 2 though
I remember Marvel superheroes Gabe from 1981 or 1982
Well deserved #1
Great list!
Soooooo where does Marvel United now ranked in ? 1 or 2 :D
Hey ppl. Is Marvel splendor worth buying?
I predict that in a year or two Tom will rank Marvel Champions higher than Marvel Legendary. Right now it’s just not as diverse as Legendary with the huge head start on content.
I come from the future and Marvel villainous is great.
Heroclix is totally awesome with the rules and insane amount of characters.

Yea, Marvel United knocked everything on this list down a peg.
I miss marvel heroic roleplaying game
You got Legendary and Champions reversed.
What about Marvel Splendor?

Love Marvel Champions but Marvel Legendary is still king.

You don't have to play that way.
No VS?!
I want Marvel Talisman :)
LegendarylLegendaryLegendaryLegendaryLegendary...
Superior? They’re mostly card games and one of DC’s best wasn’t even included!
No love for Munchkin Marvel? :(
I love Marvel but this was a disappointing list.
I have played many of these. #1 is the only bad game on the list as far as I know 😈.
