The main reason why many wealthy ladies buy *condup* fake bags is because they realize that buying Birkin bags and Kelly bags is not the right investment. It is meaningless to spend money like this, but carrying a carpet bag does not match your status. .
Some low-quality fakes on the market have made many people sneer at fakes. These fakes can only be regarded as industrial garbage. *condup* bags are real replicas, 1:1 replicas, peerless and independent.

Hi! I have purchased my first Gucci bag last month (excluding the Dyonisis 5 years ago that I returned, because it was heavy), even if I heard they are not doing well. I buy what I like no matter how the brand is performing. I have seen YSl decreasing prices as well. I had my eyes on the Niki bag and it went £100 down, and I know this, because I make screenshots of items I want to purchase to think about it. The size I am after was £2520 now it is £2430. Gucci represents the biggest player of the Kering group, so it makes sense that if this brand doesn't do well, all the others won't. I see the big problem with many Kering brands is that they don't have classic line that they keep, like the LV Speedy or Lady Dior or Chanel flap. Instead they keep introducing new styles, and that's great, but they should also keep some classic lines over the years. The other issue is Balenciaga, after that creepy ad campaign the fact the designer is still there and nobody has lost the job for that is insane to me.
Regarding Chanel, I wonder if the positive profit figures include Chanel makeup, if it does, then it means that their bags probably are not doing well. Chanel makeup plays a huge part on their profitability. Just the fact that few of people I know are receiving messages from Chanel SAs about the new collection products, when for all these years nobody reached out to them, it tells me they are desperate for shoppers.
This is great news. I hope they keep decreasing their prices because all the houses are overpriced right now, especially Chanel. Perhaps they can also decrease the salaries of their overpaid executives.
I think Kering over shot and got too aggressive with their price increases. LV hasn’t had a major across the board price increase in over 2 years. They’ve done currency harmonization, but they have not had a world wide increase. But, YSL and Gucci kept on with their price increases. I just think brands like YSL and Gucci has tended to be more entry level in terms of luxury and their price increases have priced a lot of those people out.
I also think Chanel was smart in retrospect to not make their leather goods available online. People have to go into store, so they haven’t lost foot traffic.
Gucci and YSL have never been high on my wishlist because they are just not my style. But I hope this is a harbinger of more price corrections across the luxury board. I think the luxury market has grossly underestimated how dependent they are on the middle class "splurging" on their merchandise.
black Birkin bag, which was the first good choice I ever made. I can afford a Kelly bag in any color. If I were 25, I'd probably buy it. But now I consciously don't want to associate with a woman who has a Kelly and a Birkin. I have no interest in spending $40k on a bag (a piece of leather + labor = up to $1000) Imagine spending $39k on this brand. Totally unnecessary.

you also have to remember that YSL made the decision not to go on sale on store websites or do promotions on many 3rd party sites or take "coupons". The only place it was really discounted was either in private sales or at their outlet stores. Balenciaga had marketing issues with their campaign but still go on sale. It has been slow to claw back from the marketing debacle. All of the brands are playing it safe in their designs and most consumers want something to last if they are spending the kind of money these items cost so they are looking for timeless looks rather than trend pieces. Finally how many bags, shoes do we need particularly in the conscious consumer society we are told we should be in. Lastly you should also remember that Chanel has a cosmetic department that accounts for much of their profit.

Love this color! ! The texture of the bag has to be said to be very good. The bag body is classic and durable, compact, beautiful and fashionable. Daily matching is definitely high-end. The materials and workmanship are good, and the practicality is very high. It can hold a lot of things and is cost-effective. The workmanship is very exquisite *hotdups*

I knew eventually this would all catch up with these companies. I think Ticketmaster is feeling the pinch now too, I just watched something earlier today about how many concerts are either cancelled or scaled back significantly due to poor ticket sales. Greed is NOT good, no matter what Gordon Gecko said.
Time to break up Ticketmaster. It is insane to charge $30 on a ticket for service charge. For a family of 4, you can end up paying $80-$100 just on service charge. It makes you think twice before you hit that buy button.

YSL prices in Australia have not come down. The last price increase happened only recently - a few months ago the Toy Loulou was AUD2400 and today it is AUD2450 ☹️

I’ve only ever been tempted by one Gucci bag but was put off by the price. I have 2 YSLs all second-hand. I do think YSL designs are nicer than Gucci but not for the prices they’ve been charging.
I am sure Chanel is not doing well either. Classic flaps are readely available, but yes, the higher price margin, cost of manufacturing to actual retail of handbags and SLG helps the big time. Also, they are. Big player on perfumes and make up (less so on skin care). The prices of their lipsticks are ridiculous.
I have seen ysl, Versace, Ferragamo, Gucci on Saks fifth Avenue with steep discount.
I have seen many Birkin 35 second hand going for 7000 usd on private groups.

These prices are still significantly higher than even 5 years ago. I bought my toy Loulou in later 2018 when the price was around $1150 and I got discount down to $900. I can understand prices going up some over time but about double is ludicrous.
I only shop contemporary but I haven’t purchased a bag yet this year at all and it’s June. I haven’t been to the mall in months. I’ve been shopping my closet and ask myself “do I really need this” way more than I did before. I’m not struggling financially but I’ve just been disappointed in the quality and experience of shopping these last few years, I think the companies are greedy and I’d rather save. Also, my lifestyle has been way more casual these last few years, so the bags I’m most interested in are everyday bags.

I recently bought the Gucci ophidia top handle bag in the mini size and it’s my only bag from Gucci I don’t shop at ysl either but I think that these fashion houses have hit their limit and the consumers have spoken so we will see how this goes for the fashion houses great video ❤
Hanna Gucci just had a silent price increase because I just bought my Gucci ophidia mini top handle bag last month and I bought it for 1790 and now on the website the bag is 1850 so maybe these fashion houses have not learned their lesson just yet
No, they haven't. Gucci has had a price increase very recently (a few days ago)!
The only Kering group company I like at the moment is Bottega Veneta. However their bag prices are ridiculously high so I find deals either preowned or when there are sales. As far as YSL, the price decrease on certain items makes me wonder if those items will be discontinued and this is just their way of placing them on sale? They definitely need a refresh! Very stale these days!

I agree YSL bag designs are stale right now. Their clothes make me dream, but there's nothing to get excited about in bags.
Was looking at buying the Mini Horsebit bag that you have, but in a span of two weeks, the price has actually increased from 980€ to 1.050€ 🙄 Ugh
Just for added context, some Gucci bags I've been watching have increased in prices too (from May to June 2024). It's ridiculous.
I have the same mini horsebit and i LOVE it. I also have the YSL medium sunset bag in croc embossed leather. Those are the only bags i have from those brands including a gucci card holder.
These companies have been testing the water regarding the prices and since both Gucci and Ysl target the middle class, these increases have left lots of people out. Many who used to buy an entry level bag from ysl or Gucci are instead skipping or buying preloved. The upper class are choosing chanel and Hermes so even though if those brands keep increasing their prices, that will affect the uber rich much less. They may buy less, but they will still buy. O thing at Gucci is really consumable. The big logos of Gucci and Sylvia don’t fall in the quiet luxury trend that’s happening. The people following that trend are the main consumers not the ultra rich who just buy what they want.
I remember looking at the medium YSL Lou Lou bag being £1800 possibly with a discount could have been in 2021 at the time they still had sales. Companies like YSL, Chanel, Gucci have a 300% mark up on the bags to cover all costs. Prices went up because purchases went up, so why not get as much money out of customers while we can?
The luxury market is smaller because of the obvious reasons and many people that bought luxury probably weren’t in the financial position to buy or continue buying luxury . The core market ( clients that have the money regardless of the economy) has always been pretty small .

It’s very interesting, I am excited to see what happens next. I think most brands won’t decrease the prices on existing styles but the prices on new styles will be more “reasonable” - lower than those of comparative existing styles if that makes sense.
I have that cutie Gucci horsebit and I want the larger version! The YSL Niki is also on my wishlist, so maybe I should hold out for a bit.
I think we as women are willing to spend too much money on a piece of good leather handbag. Imagine we can spend the same amount of money on high quality leather lounge set for our family room 😊
Back in 2022 the loulous were superpopular and here in Australia, I saw the price jump from aud$3600 to $4200 for the small loulou. I bought the toy loulou and medium envelope bags and I love them but don't wear them often as I prefer a bag with slightly larger capacity for everyday use. Nowadays I only occasionally hear youtubers talk about the loulou. The people who like it have already bought it and YSL hasn't really come up with another bag style that I want to buy. I did also buy a small loulou at a good price but the zipper was broken, so I retuned it and it kinda turned me off the bag.
I recently bought the Gucci mini ophidia Boston bag and love that bag and they were way better priced than the lv speedy 20. Again, Gucci doesn't have any other bag that I am interested in buying.
Part of it is trend driven I guess as not many youtubers talk about Gucci and YSL anymore. Every youtuber seems to be obsessed with Celine and Hermes and Chanel is still very much talked about and popular so maybe that's why it can get away with crazy price increases.
I recently bought the Gucci ophidia mini top handle bag as well and it’s so good I like it way better than the speedy 20 as well and I like the price point better too
1 pound of ground beef is 5 bucks most house holds have 3 or more ppl which needs at least 2 lbs so I knew ppl were going to start shopping less making these items go on sale, price drops, or losses for the companies.
I’m going to keep my 👁️ on the YSL’s. If they keep dropping I may buy one. 😉
I’m hoping ysl and BV keep decreasing. Ysl has a Kate bag that’s reversible and BV has the adiamo clutch I want. Which was $2,650 USD and now it’s $2,950

Ysl decreases on the old snap button woc. The new version with magnetic button price stays the same. Perhaps they're trying to get rid of the older version. Personally I like the magnetic snap better .

A conglomerate losing money?! Oh no! After finding out that majority of companies are owned by one group it sort of lost its appeal to me. Seeing letters on designer pieces also turns me off. At least make more elements like the Gucci horsebit piece or the Ferragamo double Gancini piece.

Very interesting topic. Thank you for making the video. I prefer YSL currently over Gucci. I really appreciate the consistency of YSL‘s branding on handbags. I find them be simple, well-made and durable at a fair price point compared to Chanel for example. I also appreciate that they don’t date themselves by changing their logos frequently.example that comes to mine would be Valentino. They change their logos so often it’s a turn off to me.

The prices are coming down as they should. The Asian market has made them most of their money for a decade now that market has extremely slowed down. So kering is back to their normal price point . However don’t underestimate their quality of products because ysl and Gucci still make top quality products over Chanel.IMO.😊

I didn’t know these are from the same parent company, as well as Balenciaga and BV. I never really dug deep into what these parent companies do, but this video is very interesting. One funny thing is that, coincidentally, I was never and still am not a fan of YSL, Balenciaga and BV, mainly their styles are just not something that appeals to me. With that said, I used to be a Gucci fan and my first luxury bag was of that brand. Not that I don’t like Gucci anymore, it’s just that now I’d rather go for something else as at this stage of my life, I can now afford a bit more. I’m not a luxury bag guru but somehow YSL bags always give me a feeling of that they wanted to copy Chanel. Tbh, I don’t see YSL the same level as Chanel. Most people getting YSL bags from outlet stores these days, they’re definitely so much more affordable now.
You make some really valid points! Gucci was my first luxury brand too. 😉 But our style and preferences evolve as we age.

I haven't shopped with YSL for years, I think they're color pallet is so boring and now they only do gold hardware. On the other hand Gucci is great but they have out priced me in the last 12months
YSL is so flashy and brand forward. Doesn't line up with recent trends of quiet luxury.

I don’t know why. I have been more attracted to LVMH group, especially Celine, Loewe and Dior, in recent 2 years. Maybe LVMH group is really nailing it in both marketing and design.
I used to like Balenciaga, YSL more but I think they lost novelty these years. Even tho the new Balenciaga bag is the current i.t. bag, I am not interested at all. The bag is stylish and functional, but the strap is too thin for it to be comfortable.
Gucci, I am never a fan. Too trendy, too chic for my style. I once heard someone describe Gucci as the high street H&M. Hilarious but I kind of agree. As I observe in HK, lots of maninland China young generation like Gucci. That further puts me off.
I think Chanel’s recent designs are also high street fast fashion. Not classic or elegant anymore. Hermes, on the other hand, is boring but classic. At least I can envision myself continue carrying a Hermes or Dior bag in 10-20 years. The recent Chanel pieces, nah! I think they target the millennial girls now. Maybe I am just too old to Chanel. lol
