Kitsap County got hit pretty hard in places. What was surprising was how some areas experienced high winds with lots of damage, while just down the road there was no damage and not much wind. Cleanup has been ongoing and some roads are still impassable. Thanks to all the paid and volunteer crews out there restoring power and TV lines and clearing roads. Several people reported damage to homes and outbuildings, but no fatalities thankfully. Thanks too for the meteorologists reporting so we could prepare ahead of time.
Can we stop camping out in front of the people's house in Bridle Falls? Leave them alone for goodness's sake. I saw it on the national news. Yeah, maybe now is not the time to bother the family.
Some of the complaints are ridiculous. Anyone who knows they will need back up power can install solar with a Tesla Power Wall (battery backup). Or they can buy a generator that will have enough power to supply the most important needs. Many people think about powering the refrigerator. Other people think about lights and PCs. For some unlucky people electricity may be needed for heat. There will be alternate sources available though.
Since the state and county OWN all of the land, they should be responsible for tree management!!! It's too damn expensive to hire tree removal. Stop paying property tax and see how fast you get gone!
I dont understand why people are surprised when a tree falls on a house.its a no brainer.dont have tall trees near your house so when the wind blows and it will .your house does not get hit.people trust trees way too much.😎
This is a prime example of why more people need to get more prepared and think about "Emergency Preparedness Management" for both your home and vehicles. One woman was inside her home showering when a tree fell onto that portion of the house and, sadly, took her life. The other woman had no home, and was making do in an encampment where the only protection from the storm was her tent, which was no match for the sudden tree fall. I lost power early on, and in every direction I looked, as far as the eye could see, was total darkness. What i did not see were people out taking a stroll in the gale-force wind gusts, driving rain, and oddly-colored lightening strikes. Too many Americans are, unfortunately, poorly-educated - but most of us aren't stupid.
No one's making any mandate like that. There's been discussion of NEW vehicles being electric, but no one is trying to ban or outlaw ICE engines. This is just more right-wing tin-foil fear-mongering. "Liberals are coming for your gas stoves!!!!". lol.
@@martikagarcia6948 Elon Musk is a commie now? Interesting, considering his 'affiliations'. No one is trying to ban ICE engines, bud. You can untwist your panties now
@andrewosborn1451 there are many gas stations open because they're located in high priority areas that don't lose power. There are not nearly enough public chargers with power to charge all the cars without power at home. The infrastructure is horrible in Washington.
The guy @5:36 should perhaps learn a little about personal responsibility. Crews are working day and night to get power back, and he's complaining they're not doing enough? If power is vitally important for you, and you're given more than a day's advance notice that the storm is coming, how about making a plan instead of trash talking the linemen and other crews trying to help?
It's better than the technical, meteorological terms of "Explosive cyclogenesis." A bomb Cyclone is the rapid deepening of an extratropical cyclonic low-pressure area. The change in pressure needed to classify something as explosive cyclogenesis is latitude-dependent. For example, at 60° latitude, explosive cyclogenesis occurs if the central pressure decreases by 24 millibars (0.71 inHg) or more in 24 hours. This is a predominantly maritime winter event but also occurs in continental settings. This process is the extratropical equivalent of the tropical rapid deepening. Although their cyclogenesis is entirely different from that of tropical cyclones, bomb cyclones can produce winds of 74 to 95 mph (120 to 155 km/h), the same order as the first categories of the Saffir-Simpson scale, and yield heavy precipitation. Even though only a minority of bomb cyclones become this strong, some weaker ones can also cause significant damage. It was accurately named...
This isn't the Tragedy Olympics. I'm sure the loved ones of the two women killed by fallen trees are just as devastated as the hundreds of family members who lost loved ones in North Carolina...or the 2000 buried alive in Papua New Guinea...or the 48,000 killed in the earthquakes that devastated Turkey. The loss of one life is as tragic and worthy of our compassion as the loss of 100,000. I have a boundless supply of empathy and love, and feeling for the heartbreak and suffering of one person's death in one particular spot on the globe doesn't mean I have used up emotions better "spent" elsewhere. I am a human being first and foremost, an American next, and a Washingtonian after. We are all part of the human family, and we mourn together when tragedy strikes anywhere on our planetary home. Whether a Turkish grandmother thousands of miles from me is buried under the rubble that was her home, or a woman living in a tent a few miles from me is buried under the tree that was her shade, I feel the pain just as keenly.

Kind of rude to harass a family that just lost a loved one
I feel so bad for those that have experienced extensive damage to their homes
It's a great idea to have battery banks and/or generators in place just in case. It's fantastic how neighbors were helping each other.
My RV generator is running charging my power bank.:)

Maple Valley. Many places trees down keeping people from access to jobs or fuel.
I got my power back!
I’m sorry for the man who lost his wife this is horrifying.

Exactly! We live in the PNW. It's not a matter of IF the power will go out, but when, and for how long. If you can't live without, make plans!
"Nestled in the trees" ... can tell the journalist used ChatGPT to write their script.
She is still IN there. 💔🙏🏼✝️
FYI TREES FALL!!

I got lucky my friend and son had no lights. I didn't lose my lights

Yea, 50,000 dollars later.

A few days? In other parts of the world it could be weeks or months.
In Gaza, it’s been 14 months and counting without electricity and +- 25% of normal water supply.
why are people still walking outside if trees are still falling??? In Austria we are inside houses, and stay away from trees

So much for Tesla owners getting to work this week 🤣 Good excuse I guess...
03:00 second day without elec??? ...wait, when was the 'bomb cyclone'?
And they're mandated 100% electric vehicles by 2030? Think it through voters.
It'll never happen, too much money in oil

2035 and it's not 100%. You do realize gas powered cars run out of gas, right?
@andrewosborn1451 there are many gas stations open because they're located in high priority areas that don't lose power. There are not nearly enough public chargers with power to charge all the cars without power at home. The infrastructure is horrible in Washington.
Time to drain the swamp at PSE
Or thank the crews who are working brutal hours to restore power?

Most of the damage was caused by labeling the storm 'bomb cyclone"

Yeah sure. I’m sure if you told that to the deceased woman she never would have died. Fool
Buy generators.
People are going to be without power for days.
********Get some linemen from out of state********
Good folks ❤
Oh no! A wind storm. Let's sensationalize it.
It was equivalent to a category 3 hurricane. Not a normal storm…
Gaza’s 2-million residents have been without electricity for over a year. Just sayin.
This is nothing compared to the suffering in North Carolina after hurricane Helene sent her wrath through those communities.
It's not a competition

Prayers for them and if there’s local donation places. 🫣🙏🏽
