I'm probably going to catch some flak/flames for this but, I think that if that person went from 1-72 in 14 hours on retail WoW, they were spamming dungeon finder non-stop and likely with full heirlooms to boost XP. You don't level that fast on retail unless you are *really* trying to. I mean that works out to roughly 5 levels every single hour. I do agree with you however that modern MMOs have almost no identity and have latched onto the WoW model theme-park design. Older MMOs like EQ, Dark Ages of Camelot, RuneScape, Anarchy Online, Ultima Online, etc., were and are fun because the worlds they created and systems they built are very different from each other. You go back because you can't wait to get back into that world, living through your character, writing your own story, and creating memories that will last. The locations, sounds, spell effects, combat animations, the struggle, the wins, the losses, it all creates the experience that we love. The experience is DIFFERENT in each and every one, and we like them because they ARE DIFFERENT. Modern MMOs don't have any identity and subscribe to the same framework that made WoW popular. WoW is OLD though, and while it has grown and changed and evolved, they still abide by the framework they created because they wanted to be different from everyone else. They didn't set out thinking they were going to create the most popular MMO ever with the intention of literally creating the formula everyone else should follow. They stood out because they poured their passion into the world, the story, the characters, and really left the players to be guided a little bit, but mostly create their own experiences and stories within their world, and that is what made it wildly successful. It did help some to have some newer quality of life stuff, but it was the experience of the individual, creating their own stories in the game that really made it a success. Now when a new MMO comes out, they do the same crap as everyone else, like a checklist of things that need to be in the game, or no one will play it. They are so, so terrified to break away from the mold because the investors only want the money. They aren't passion projects anymore and it's very, very easy to see. Passionate game developers are too often over-ridden by suits who know jack-squat about the industry, they just speak dollar bills, and that's all that matters to them. We aren't anything but cash cows to be squeezed dry for a long as possible until the next spoon-fed shit can be concocted and spit out while cycling in a new dev team because you destroyed the last one. If you look at something like Elden Ring, it was ridiculed, ostracized, made fun of, most noticeably by Ubisoft because of its design, difficulty, lack of hand holding and desire to break away from the open world framework that they use to create the same stupid crap, year after year, all the while wondering why their games suck, and no one wants to play them. However, Elden Ring is massively successful, and critically acclaimed, exactly because they broke the mold, forged their own path forward, poured their passion, their hearts, their souls, into crafting a unique world, a unique experience, rewarding the players curiosity for exploring by having these really cool places, or items, or NPCs, or bosses tucked away. Maybe everyone doesn't find them, not everyone will see it, or know it's there, or appreciate it, but it enriches the experience for those who do find it, and that is special. I distinctly remember realizing that I was being rewarded for my curiosity and the game was challenging my pre-conceived notions about how a game world should be made, because everyone else does it that way, because even though in other games there isn't anything at the end of the beach, or base of the mountain, or in that cave, or that NPC has nothing interesting to say. But maybe, just maybe, there IS something cool in there, who knows what you will find, or what quest you will go on if you take a minute to look around, get off the beaten path or chat up that NPC that you assume probably has nothing interesting to say. That hooked me harder than anything else and I could not wait to see what other things I was going to discover, stories I would come across and witness or play a part in. I think older MMOs have this same kind of experience, albeit not nearly as modernized, but the IDEA is the same. Create a world people want to be in, give them the tools, the pieces to create their own stories and experiences in your world, craft it lovingly, with passion, pay attention to the small details, the small touches, and the players will do the rest for you. The proof is there if they would only look for it. Those who do, like Miyazaki and his incredible team of developers and artists, and story writers, and world designers, are rewarded a million times over to insane success so they can go on and create a new experiences, worlds, and stories, that they want to share with us. I really hope someone eventually comes along with the means to create this way, to speak to the players through the world they create, the stories, the characters, and to encourage each and every one of us to create our own stories in their world. I think that would be rewarded handsomely, a thousand times over, but the players have to come first before the money. Take a risk, break the mold, be different, otherwise you create the same soulless crap that everyone else is churning out, and we are all really tired of it.

You did say her name correctly, not many people could pronounce my Cleric's name Aiyistolia. Also, I forgot to mention about World of Warcraft Retail. You don't die until you hit the new expansion. But you will still have the basic cleric spell list, and with it, alot of undead only nukes which are painful and mana efficient. the kaladim chessboard has some lowish level undeads you can farm pretty easily. I farmed them till i was level 14. and then onto befallen, then unrest. that'll get you to the 20s.
Eventually at some point in classic EQ they removed the boats completely and replace them with teleporters.😂 just some NPC you would hail and say "port me to Freeport" .. and she'd say "okay" and boom, you're there.
I think there is currently only one modern MMO, that being OSRS. WoW and all the other themepark "MMO's" are just multiplayer action games with a really long tutorial. The entire game is designed around end game raiding, everything else is just to keep you playing between each raid lockout. All the gearing in meaningless and every class is overdesigned and railroaded. There's no freedom, no exploration, and no community. I thoroughly enjoy FF14, but I don't even think of it as an MMO. I feel like people learned the wrong lessons from EQ and early WoW.

@@VitaminMaxer187 That's insane!! No death in Azeroth huh?? Hard pass 😂
Enjoying this. Could someone point out how Rekit setup their UI this way? This looks far more convenient/efficient than what I've cobbled together on the base UI.
@@kylegraywolf I use the DuxaUI
@@RekitRogue thanks, I’ll check it out!
Naw go ahead and put out like 4 hour long videos on this. I like to keep these on my second screen while I'm working. The longer the better imo.

What is you standard playtime? I don't think I've ever seen you on. Anyway it's great seeing content.
@@Sneeakn I usually don't log in until 9-10pm EST on weekdays, and late late on the weekends. With the occasional Noontime play thrus-monday.... Basically later my schedule is all fuked up 😂 Also thank you for the continued support brother 🙏🍻

I miss the adventure.
Norrath would be a better place with you amongst it's ranks. 🙏
Oof all that time farming cleaner vii to only get 4/12 turnins. I can feel your pain
@@BIueharvest Yeah it sucked the big wank, but we'll recover and come back stronger!! Lesson learned. 🍻
looked into the cleanse undead thing, looks like it unlocks with luclin and when you reach level 59, sorry man, thought I had something smart to contribute to your adventure haha.
@@alanmeadows4056 In the rare case that I have access to "cleanse" from let's say an item that I may or may not have 😂 whats the suggestion?
@@RekitRogue Well its a paladin only ability and functions exactly like the warriors critical hit, but its on undead only and hits for like x10? or about that much.
@@alanmeadows4056 Okay, I'll look into it, thank you for the location tips brother. 👍

The original boats in classic EverQuest are legitimately the worst most buggy janky laggy broken pieces of s*** in any video game ever hands down😂
💯 I'm with you brother!! Fuk them boats!! 🤣
I don't know how, in all the old patches they never got those things working. I guess PoP mostly killed the need
Eventually at some point in classic EQ they removed the boats completely and replace them with teleporters.😂 just some NPC you would hail and say "port me to Freeport"
.. and she'd say "okay" and boom, you're there.
lol comin in hot w/ Rajneesh

I think there is currently only one modern MMO, that being OSRS. WoW and all the other themepark "MMO's" are just multiplayer action games with a really long tutorial. The entire game is designed around end game raiding, everything else is just to keep you playing between each raid lockout. All the gearing in meaningless and every class is overdesigned and railroaded. There's no freedom, no exploration, and no community.
I thoroughly enjoy FF14, but I don't even think of it as an MMO.
I feel like people learned the wrong lessons from EQ and early WoW.
@@TheTamally I'm with you on all fronts, I do love me some OSRS!
I'm 26years old from London, UK and fell in love with TLP's back in covid!!! Always trying new servers but scared to hop onto P99 and play as an SK ;)
Hell yeah! I hope your adventures have been badass! I play on "Project Quarm" but if P99 is something you've been eyeballing, I say take the plunge friend!! And hey if the live TLP's are your adventuring home, I say play what's fun friend!! Happy hunting out there adventurer! 🍻
