What a great video. Usually watching EQ is boring to me. But this was actually really entertaining. Great mix of explanations and skipping the downtime.
The only thing that I don't like about these videos is that they make me want to spend way too much time playing EQ again. Great Work - making the low level EQ grind seem interesting is pretty tough, but you did it!
Well done, Ion Blaze. I opted to try out Vaniki at launch instead of Yelinak so it was really cool to see some of your experiences. I laughed out loud at the clip you used and the context.
I dont even play everquest. 12 Years deep into WoW. So i have always been intrigued by it. I love these narrated "story" type videos. How you introduce the zones with their respective story and how you explain the abilities and what the party is trying to do. I couldnt follow at all without that. Wish you all the best.
Watching this makes me wanna delve back into EQ. I've always been an FFXI and with some of the anniversary drama i really was looking at expanding to EQ. I might end up just jumping into a TLP

They're also trained to respond with automatic messages with little deviations being allowed as of the past 5 years. So, even if the devs and project managers really appreciate your work, there's a high chance the customer support member either has no idea who you are, or is forced to respond in that way. Talking as someone who has worked on both sides over the years
I just recently got back into Live EQ and found your videos looking for EQ content. I binge watched a few already and looking forward for more. I joined Yelinak two weeks ago and watching your vids is also making me more hyped to play!
When I tried a TLP- I remember another group dispelling my charmed pet in order to try to wipe us and take the pet. I petitioned with video evidence, and from what I could tell- no ban. It can really sour the EQ experience.
I got suspended for a week because evidently waving at the GM standing next to me is failing their afk check. I was like oh cool what is going on with this GM here waved and faced him to see what was going on. evidently they put something in /say that you have to message them and it got drowned in my combat text. Good riddance I'll play somewhere else if they would rather pick on someone camping 2 trash mobs rather than bots.
Another great video. I did enjoy the TLP I played on through PoP as well as my time on P99. I play on Wayfayer's Haven now and have been thoroughly enjoying it there. It will never be the population of P99 but we are into GoD and OoW around May/June.
Having a lot of fun on Yelinak myself. 36 CLR LFG :P Had someone who trained the whole zone in multiple picks of UR because they were powerleveling. Talk about a pain.

Hey bro, just seeing this video in 2024. Wanted to say I remember my first great guild too! What an experience. I was sad to see your last video content coming out 5 months ago. Keep up the content these are fantastic about the greatest game ever made!
I prided myself as one of the best Ranger pullers on Tribunal in my day. I pulled for groups and for end game raids up to plane of Time. Was not especially common to be an end game Ranger pulling with harmony and a bow. But I was one of them. That was a long time ago.
Would love to get added to a list of a "static group" next TLP or whatever next iteration of EQ you sink your teeth into. Keep them videos pumping man!
A few months ago we were visiting southern Missouri and drove on that diverging diamond interchange. We thought it was so weird. Bizarre that the explanation for it would pop up for me at the end of a random EverQuest video of all places :D
Amazing Content! I also played on mangler and my guild broke up as well for over a year...it was called kursed! I remember midnight rations. Its hard when a guild breaks up....so many good people you will never talk to anymore:(
I still miss the guild Nightwatchers from 7th Hammer to this day. Best time and group of people I ever had the pleasure to play with. But, once server merges started and us being a euro time guild, it was hard to recruit on 7th. Due to the mergers, players were given a free 1 time transfer to another server and another misfit euro guild from Tholluxe (sp?) iirc transferred to 7th and merged with us. The chemistry among leadership and members began to degrade and people started leaving. I ended up transferring to Antonious Bayle and raided end game with the folks in Raging Fury, and while it was a thrill to be at the cutting edge of content, I'll always wish that I could have done those things with my true EQ family.
Happy for the TLP MAngler. I came back after like 15 years and made 5 or 6 level 60s on mangler in the first 3 months. Leveled my new char (shaman named Tooslow) in a fast 7 days to 60! Then got hooked to playing like 21 hours a day and leveling non-stop and made a monk, did aame thing, 60 , got epic then did it for an enchanter then a SK, Necro, Rogue ton of fun. By time I was done though speed-leveling these chars and getting all the top loot that was dropable or somewhat doable (like plane of air slippers for monk, shawl of fire for monk off one of those summoned epic mobs, etc) after doing this I realized the server was dying off... everyone said don't worry it gets better next XPAC as they are time progressed but no this was the beginning to the end, got worose and worse. sad I felt like I worked on it all for nothing REALLY WISHED WE HAD A ONLY ONE SERVER, literally ONE... so many people would be in every zone. With the boxers the reason all of those people have a mage or necro army is they have click machines that hit a macro for them that assists the main and then sends in the pet and maybe casts a nuke could technically still be in true box code
It seems Daybreak like Verant Interactive is giving you the full old school authentic day 1 experience... Minus the random server crashes... where you can repeat the hassle of logging in against a cue... over and over and over...
Level 20 @~ 28:25 also opens a new damage cap range which is super important in a zone like Unrest as you are capable of more DPS even with the same gear.
if you ask me the extended target window shouldnt be a reward for leveling, it has nothing to do with the game lore, or RP value. It should be a toggle-able feature from start.

I know how ya feel about the guild I joined a guild day 1 on the Phinny server, a lot of the people I liked I saw come and go.. Thankfully we were able to stay together to even get officially to Live.. Sure the guild wasn't what it was back in the Velious/Luclin/PoP eras when we were 3 or 4 splitting raids every raid night but we made it and no matter what other TLP I join... I just can relive that experience.. too many toxic guilds that just move from TLP to TLP =\
I getcha there. It was actually the challenge that made it so fun. Sounds like complaining but it was the best part looking back. Thank you for giving the video a chance.
You should play on takp server man. Pop Era is great. And no toxicity in the raid scene. The devs actually give a hoot. Plus sleeper is always asleep no matter if you kill all 4 warders or not. Also daybreak doesn't care about promotion tbh. They just release another tlp:)
The zones are only instanced when it's required. In my opinion /pick is better than dungeon finder instancing where you don't even need to physically go to the literal zone. It strikes the best balance when you're trying to fit a large population onto one or two servers max. They have a hard time even convincing significant numbers to go to a second server, I don't think they can just horizontally scale like back in the day with more servers (nevermind the cost). There are drawbacks but I've tried playing some of the very first TLPs before there was any instancing and it was by far an objectively worse experience, you have to compare apples to apples.
I box 4 toons and my wife boxes 2… we have never.. never trained someone by accident or on purpose… we would rather die then get someone killed… We play on test… 2 days ago I came back.. it’s been over 15 years since I played last… I decided to see what all I remembered.. I ran from Qeynos .. all through the karanas… through the gorge.. killed some evil eyes… went to kael and killed vindi again.. had so much fun..
@@IonBlaze1 Befallen was extremely bad because of the locked doors and the broken staircase. Throw in a gimp machine and the original user interface and man... was it adrenaline packed. Oh, and if you died behind a locked door, the key stayed on your corpse, with all your other gear. 😂 No pressure to dig your key our or anything. But it was one of the first zones I XPed in that wasn’t a starting zone and it will always be one of my favorite memories of EQ.
I was on Yelinak from valious to GoD but as normal I get tired of spending hours looking for a group and end up back on my local Emulater server since I can just spawn jn the bots and skip the lfg and play
i remember using a pet at the qeynos bank in the early days of eq1 pvp, and i'd just sit there because it was a dwarf with low allegiance and i'd loot accidentally 4 emeralds, i would keep my char at lvl 8 just to troll and it worked, slowly got new newb gear, then someone doing the same thing had the same idea and had the firey sword (very high level) no-drop item (that he got from doing the arena no-drop hack) and would chop us all down, haha, good times.
I 4 boxed a chanter, sham, mag, and bard on yelinak up til end of tov, I did it legit the whole way with 2 laptops my dekstop and my wifes desktop. I had my chanter on my main pc, my sham on my closest laptop and bard on my other laptop. I kept my mag on my wifes pc and used a mouse with keybinds to control it. I bought an extra large mouse pad for this reason. I had a mouse for each laptop as well and was able to easily reach over and control my shaman. I had a necro friend and we regularly took on drusella each week in hs and when he wasn't on I absolutely destroyed that zone as well as anywhere in chardok i wanted with this setupl. I even managed to do my entire shaman epic myself, that took abusing the no lvl loss perk by binding myself in city of mist when doing that part but it was possible lol. So if you see a big group of people on follow its bot always somebody cheating to get around the truebox code but it is extremely rare. I did have to run a vpn because i was hitting keys simultaneously too often from 2 or more pcs and it would disconnect me.
The link for the last TLP episode explains the backstory more. I left that TLP episode on a cliffhanger cause I didn't know if we were actually going to. This episode I answer the cliffhanger. Thank you for watching :)
I play on Thornblade. I don't box. I don't use any third party programs. It would not surprise me if over half the server did run boxes and monk track / showeq. You won't find anyone to group with leveling up and you will be lucky to find a split paw group. People just log on to raid and that's about it. It hit pretty hard when you were talking about your guild falling apart because I see that happening sooner rather than later... Enjoy that new server smell while it lasts.

You should play on takp server man. Pop Era is great. And no toxicity in the raid scene. The devs actually give a hoot. Plus sleeper is always asleep no matter if you kill all 4 warders or not. Also daybreak doesn't care about promotion tbh. They just release another tlp:)
Instancing raid targets makes sense, instancing zones ruins the world.
It ruins the world?
The zones are only instanced when it's required. In my opinion /pick is better than dungeon finder instancing where you don't even need to physically go to the literal zone. It strikes the best balance when you're trying to fit a large population onto one or two servers max.
They have a hard time even convincing significant numbers to go to a second server, I don't think they can just horizontally scale like back in the day with more servers (nevermind the cost).
There are drawbacks but I've tried playing some of the very first TLPs before there was any instancing and it was by far an objectively worse experience, you have to compare apples to apples.
@@IonBlaze1 yes, it feels less like a world, and more like a game
Id love to have a party to play with in Eq. Before planes of power, one could solo level and do well.
Bard? Nevermind...I see it now & knew it was a dumb question! Of course it's a Bard
Gotta do it! Thank you for coming by :)
biggest thing I dislike about EQ is that its not a Holy Trinity. Its a Holy Quad. If you do not have a mezzer you cannot play in most camps.
I love it
I box 4 toons and my wife boxes 2… we have never.. never trained someone by accident or on purpose… we would rather die then get someone killed…
We play on test… 2 days ago I came back.. it’s been over 15 years since I played last… I decided to see what all I remembered.. I ran from Qeynos .. all through the karanas… through the gorge.. killed some evil eyes… went to kael and killed vindi again.. had so much fun..
Befallen is my favorite zone has been since I was a kid Hella good xp at low level can't believe you never been there lol
Yeah it's a pretty sweet place :)
Lol... I spent hours in Befallen with my first character a Paladin. The trains are real.
Yeah it's just those zones with 1 way in/out that are terrible.
Isn't there a bard epic weapon in eq2 called the Ayonic Axe?
Truebox code is not there to prevent boxing.
Truebox code is there to enforce one character per physical computer.
Two very different things.
Too bad I couldn't play on opening weekend or I would have loved to be your static Enchanter!
Oh yeah that would have been great
@@IonBlaze1 just an FYI, I do have an Enchanter on Yelinak. Her name is Muirenn and she is lvl 37 currently. If you ever need help, just let me know.
@@Elderos5 ok will do :)
I was on Yelinak from valious to GoD but as normal I get tired of spending hours looking for a group and end up back on my local Emulater server since I can just spawn jn the bots and skip the lfg and play
Nice video man.
Thank you hammackj :)
i remember using a pet at the qeynos bank in the early days of eq1 pvp, and i'd just sit there because it was a dwarf with low allegiance and i'd loot accidentally 4 emeralds, i would keep my char at lvl 8 just to troll and it worked, slowly got new newb gear, then someone doing the same thing had the same idea and had the firey sword (very high level) no-drop item (that he got from doing the arena no-drop hack) and would chop us all down, haha, good times.
They should have universal name slot so your name can never be stolen.
is there no more episodes?
"But i'm an influencer!" get over yourself. name collisions happen.
Funny enough resurgence is still arguably the #1 guild on Yelinak. They downed all GoD raids sub 12 hours of release.
They went from nothing to killing tunat in 12 hrs?
Why’d you break up? I still want to know!
The link for the last TLP episode explains the backstory more. I left that TLP episode on a cliffhanger cause I didn't know if we were actually going to. This episode I answer the cliffhanger. Thank you for watching :)
Mangler is going strong! Viels of Alaris just opened. level 95 cap.
Heck yeah. That's great to hear. Thank you.
Great video !!!
Thank you RG. Nice to see you again :)
