One of the most praised “forms” of fried rice in Cantonese cuisine is having the egg thrown in the pan where it coats every single grain of rice with an “egg fragrance”. Then seasons with soy and oyster sauce, and everything must be chopped the same size ie you’d never get strips of spring onion. But hey to each their own
I made this recipe last night with leftover rice from takeout food and it was amazing! Much better than the fried rice in most restaurants and since I used all leftovers it cost me $0 instead of the $7 they sell it for! 10/10 would recommend

He's just about 10 months older than me, actually. Both of us were born in the same year.
Oh fried rice, in Vietnam, you don't need much, just throw everything and we could have a 50 cent fried rice.
True true 😋
Final answer: I don't need to be in the cabinet for every series but I still want to be in the cabinet sometimes. I like it there. it's cozy
I just made this for dinner tonight and its easily the best fried rice ive ever had!!🎉🤤 please continue this series!!
Started living on my own, made this recipe and you were right, it did make me happy.
Amazing recipe. Just finished eating this for my dinner and it was amazing. I did braggs aminos and coconut sugar and it still came out amazing. Love all your recipes, Thank you!!
Josh: 2:08
Asians: well no, unless you completely mess up preparing the rice like that BBC woman did
the one that drained the rice after it was cooked? i dont wanna remember her 😳
That physically hurt me to watch.
"What is cheap and full of rice?"
Me, a broke college student.
Touché
Since watching this video for the first time, I have made this fried rice twice! So delicious! I used Calrose sushi rice, and it had turned out amazingly well. After making it the first time, my family kept asking me to make it again. It has been the best fried rice I have ever made! Great video!
Incase you were wondering, he actually said "rice" 35 times in this video (his own counter was wrong).
Rice on a cookie sheet, chopping scrambled eggs on a cutting board.
Me: "Mommy, what is he doing?"
Mom: "josh is cooking honey, don't ask questions."
Joshua: _Washes rice and uses rice cooker_
Uncle Roger: *in tears* he's learned the way of the rice hiyaaaa
u used the word "haiya" wrong haha
But he cook green onion, he put it in first big no no
Haiyaaaa is sound of frustrated disapproval ... not approval ... 🤣
It should be fuiyoh or something like that, not haiyaaah
frostbite syok will do
a true Vietnamese household will always have at least 1 Rice cooker , my mom bought 3 that's how hardcore serious we are about rice, oh and not mention Clay pot for traditional cooking method
This showed up right after I watched Uncle Roger roasting Jamie Oliver 😂
Same here.. 😂😂
"You know what else is cheap and full of rice?" Me, its me.
DIO !?
my mom told me fried rice is better with left-over rice, if it’s new rice, it’s gonna be too soft and it’s just weird, fried rice is meant to be more dry
"Cooking rice in a pot is a mortal sin"
90% of South Asians: Hm.
Edit: 90% of Earth's population
lmaooo i guess we're demons now :))
Yeah, like bro, that's how our ancestors did it, and it turned out amazing when you mixed it with some Dal. Wait until they find out how we make Khichdi!
Yeah i didn't understand either. In a pot is THE standard procedure around the entire world. A rice cooker is just a convenience bonus. Although i don't know how a standard pot isn't already convenient enough.
As a Vietnamese (south Asian), I don't know any Vietnamese household that doesn't have a rice cooker.
In Thailand and Laos almost every household has a rice cooker too. And we lived in a very rural area
I literally just made this and I’m eating it now. It does in fact deserve a B roll
Uncle Roger: *WHERE’S YOU MSG? WHY DIDN’T YOU PUT MSG ON RICE?! H A I Y A A!*
Soysauce has msg already. Uncle Roger approved this vid.
@@edgarlim21 With msg you can add less soy sauce and therefore less soggy rice
@@thienphucn1 But what if i love soggy rice O_O
@@mezz9159 then you’re weird no offense
Uncle Roger would have said " why you not put msg on rice.. just sayin'
AWESOME as always. Love "but cheaper" when cooking for my family of five! Keep doing what you're doing Mr. Weissman 💪🏾🏆🍚🥡
Look forward to your next video 📹 😀
i double up on the sauce it comes out amazing. I feel like the mixture doesn't coast 4 cups of rice well enough. Thank you for this amazing recipe!!!
I didn’t know cooking rice in a pot was considered a sin 😂😂😂 in my Indian household that is literally the only way you cook rice
Same in Turkey-
Naw, it’s not a sin, the sin is DRAINING IT WITH A COLANDER.
The only sin is eating it under cooked.
Dang I thought Indians only did electric rice cookers or pressure cookers? Why does my family have 6 electrics and 3 pressure cookers? What’s wrong with us?
I mean people in hongkong cook them in a clay pot..
Josh in 2016: "Let's do this shall we?"
Josh in 2018: "Lets do this, shall we?"
Josh in 2020: "Lets...make this. Shall we?"
Josh in 2024: "Lets...do....this. Shall...........we?"
2030: LES GO BOIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
2028: "Lets...."
2029: "do..."
Uncle Roger: I like this nephew. He has such a nice rice cooker. Treats rice properly unlike Auntie Helen treats me. He treats his rice like Auntie Jenny treats me. Good kid. Leg stays on chair for him.
~Couple minutes later~
Uncle Roger: HAIYAAAAH! What you doing?!Why so much sauce?! Where is MSG? Where is wok? Why waste money on tiny dining room set? I thought you help save money?
You forgot he put in scallion early, and it will wilt. Haha.
And diced his supposed to be, scrambled egg?
He put garlic in the end, Uncle Roger said garlic first.
He also use measuring cup, Uncle Roger said you are not scientist, use the finger.
You make a basket of eggs in the middle of the wok at the very end of stir frying your fried rice mixture cooking the eggs at the same time. When the egg is cooked then you fold it into the fried rice top a green onions. Then smoke a phatty and dig in.. Your method works just as well Joshua. Thanks man.
Fried rice is one my favorite foods of all time! So easy having different meats and veggies all in one dish!
"Second method is considered a mortal sin by many people!"
Literally the only way people prepare rice here in Brazil
At this point it's just mussel memory. Oil, minced garlic, fry until golden, throw in rice, blast it, and then cover with um dedinho de water, and done. Pronto meu filho, vai fazer o resto da comida ou re-esquentar o feijão.
When everyone wants a book called a Weissman once said but josh gives us
*cake*
Your tutos never disappoint, Joshua. I litterally just made it and I am a very very very very happy woman right now
Finally a Joshua Weissman recipe I can actually afford to make.
Everyone: "JOSH TOLD ME TO BOIL 2 CUPS OF WATER AFTER HE SAID THIS METHOD WAS FOR IF I DIDN'T HAVE A POT!"
Me, an intellectual: "Have you ever heard of a kettle?"
No one has a kettle. They also never heard of a microwave before.
Who doesn’t have a pot but has an oven
Me, my poor broke self: measuring cup in a microwave
Joshua weissman is basically “ah i see your a man of culture as well”.
I’ve made this three times now and it’s definitely turning into a favorite! Thank you for the great tutorial 💜
"So you want good takeout fried rice?"
No, I want you to write a book called "A Weissman once said"
Ur have a giant brain
RandomFrankQ no this has been suggested so many times
0:52 my broke ass actually thought the ingredients were $1
Is it Uncle Roger approved tho? Where's the MSG?!
Tried this recipe and worked a treat, gonna take it up a notch using oil from guanciale cured pork cheek that has been fried (the guanciale is also a bacon substitute) instead of olive or peanut oil.
we need an Uncle Roger react video to this,
Uncle Roger: "Again with salt? Why no MSG?" & "Who cook rice in oven?"
YES
Why you measure with cup? Use finger so easy ayiaaaaa
and with vinegar. uncle roger would be triggered.
When i saw him use a pot i think to this
"Ww2 is over, we have technology"
-Uncle roger

Me and my entire family who are used to cooking rice in a pot : *insert mike wazowski sully face swap meme*
More like who tf measure rice water using a cup? We all know what to use 👉🏻
@@---oc5xj lmao same👇🏻
At 0:49 those are called Bayonet Forceps. We use them in the Operating Room. They are used in a lot of ENT procedures. They are also commonly used to apply or remove dressings. That is not an eating utensil. Lol. Recipe was great, though. Thanks.
