I would just like to say that people's votes do matter. It's just a lot of times people vote only during the presidential races and forget about other politicians. If anything, it should be the opposite because for the most part, people's day to day lives are affected by the decisions of your state's governor, mayor, and judges. You can also include senators because they make the laws. If people actually paid attention to politics and voted out senators or governors that did not do what they promised, there actually would be change. And to do that effectively, you need to know politics and what's going on. Saying that the system doesn't work is a nonsensical argument because more than 50% of the voting population hasn't even tried the system for presidents since 1908, and I know it has to far less of a percentage for local elections. That's like telling the doctor that the medicine doesn't work and you took the medicine less than half the time.
