      Thats not always on your coworker though. Sometimes, actually its more like OFTEN, ppl just genuinely aren't a good fit for a job that they have, but bc they have to be an adult too, they cant just up and quit bc stuff aint going as smoothly as they thought. Everyone has a different learning curve, some ppl are hired bc they hav expertise in one task but are completely horrible in other tasks in the same job. Should have more beef with the person that hired them than the person themself.

    Kelly is right tho. When you overachieve at your job you are left to pick up the slack. You can't be "mean" in a cooperate job and tell your co-workers to get their asses in gear and do their work properly and you are expected to guide/ help your co-workers. The even more frustrating part is the most lackluster people are people persons they are nice friendly get along with everyone and get promoted because of this. They either stagnate get promoted/or moved(someone else's problem) or get demoted but you don't often see them getting fired. Some quit and move on to another company to leech there.

      That’s not an adult problem though, that’s a personal problem for overachievers. You can just choose to focus on your own work and not “overachieve” and don’t bring all that added stress upon yourself for no reason. That’s something I had to learn the hard way. And I’m so glad I did. Now I just do the work required and worry about my damn self and I’m chillin mentally. Also therapy might help. I say that because of a lot of time being an overachiever is because of lack of fulfillment, attention or love, so working through that might help as well.

      @AlternateInfinite 3 роки тому +10

      @@devronl08 that works until the problem becomes your issue, therefore forcing you to overachieve.
      Happens a lot in kitchens.
      Day shift doesn't prep for Night shift
      Night shift didn't filter the fryer properly
      A new person is started on a busy day
      Someone forgets their order
      Etc.
      Mostly,
      The customer doesn't care about all of that.
      All they know is that it's taken too long for what they ordered to be delivered and we all know how that dung ball rolls.
      In work environments where blame befalls everyone, slackers aren't welcomed.
      Edit: shoot, there are times when the team is in the weeds and are consequentially locked to spot meaning they cant leave their station unless someone covers for them.
      Would be the manager or kitchen captain job to cover but alas they too are busy af so then it falls onto either the dropper(fry person) or make up (person who sets up plates for orders) to pick up the slack being that Drop can over drop to compensate for any missed orders and Makeup only has so much room to set plates on.
      By your logic, these two should just focus on them, stand around and let the kitchen fail.
      If so, then those two would be fired.
      "If you have time to lean, you have time to clean"
      I was dropper, and was in those very situations. I'd over drop, run around asking what was needed, make a chiller run, restock the line and then return to my duties.
      It's not being an overachiever, it's doing your job and being damned good at it.
      Anyone who says otherwise is a hater who is shackled by self doubt.
      They dont want to look dumb by putting effort into something they don't truly care about and lack the understanding of why you care so much and instead of coming to the introspective conclusion that their attitude may be what's wrong, they will instead fault you, eventhough you are just being successful.
      To all my "overachievers", keep doing the damned thing. Management sees you and appreciates your effort.
      "Success is the persistent pursuit of a worthy idea." - Earl Nightingale, 'The Secret to a Successful Life.'

    • @devronl08
      @devronl08 3 роки тому +5

      @@AlternateInfinite Thats a very specific example, and quite the lengthy message haha. There will always be outliers, nothing is absolute. Outliers aren’t the standard and never will be. In most jobs you don’t need to pick up the slack of others in order for your own job not to be in jeopardy, so there’s that. Also as you said, your example isn’t being an overachiever, so it’s a moot point and example. I was speaking of people who just naturally overachieve in a position where is isn’t needed. I never said anything about them being successful or not, I was speaking about the need to overachieve versus the payout of it, and also the reason why many individuals are overachievers in the first place. I disagree with you, that definitely doesn’t make me a hater 😂 I was a chronic overachiever until my 30’s, besides I don’t know the millions of overachievers in the world, why would I hate on them?
      Anyway, again your example isn’t being an overachiever but having no choice but to pick up the slack of others or shoulder the burdens of working with a team where sometimes others have to take on some of the work of their coworkers for whatever reason. Not the same thing. “Success can also be defined as working smarter, not harder” - Me

    Imma expose myself 😂 I'm 19 no job and not in school. I have to get a job by june/July or else ill be kicked out. I have a hard time talking to people/never had the energy to go outside and socialize. This kept me from getting a job sooner. I wanted to be a night stocker but my family told me "no any job but that, you're a girl its dangerous out here". I dont want to deal with customers in fear of not knowing the right things to say or worry about what I look like, and the chance of a customer being rude knowing I can't do a damn thing about it makes me not want to go with retail. I do my best cleaning up my room and the dishes like my mom asked in return. Since I haven't dealt with my clinical depression/social anxiety for almost 6 years I will soon have to go to school. Not part time, but full time still not knowing what I want to do after a whole year passed and be stressed all over again while also having a full time job. The thought of never having time to yourself to enjoy life is annoying to me. In order to get a good paying job you have to go to college. For years at that. You pobably won't get to enjoy the money you make until your 40. Don't want go to college? Be prepared to work a 9-5 for the rest of your life just to live decently. Well in terms of your worrying about your appearance and your anxiety and what not, it's not as bad as you might think. I can 100% say I was the same, espcially having grown up in state custody my whole life, but getting my retail job actually helped me overcome a lot of that. I care about doing a good job at whatever I do, and so it forced me to have to talk to people more and confront them and whatnot, it's actually made it so I'm not as shy or scared of people. Not a cure by any means but it will definitely teach you to get over a lot of those feelings :) and you absolutely do not need college 😂😂 I never went and Ive managed to make as much as most people would after having gone to school and gotten their degree, only difference is i don't have student debt lol. Though sometime I can get away with if they don't do their job, it's not my fault I can't do mine. Alright, this is going to be long. Kelly is right; y’all acting as if you know her just due to her using the word “perfectionist.” That is an OCD trait, not a micromanager issue. When people are lazy, it affects someone else always point blank no matter the job. Ever remember being in a group project in school where someone never pulled their weight and still got the grade that is the same concept. Honestly, if you don’t remember someone like that, you were likely the jerk who stressed everyone else out and took all the credit knowing you didn’t do a thing. The homelessness issue is an adult thing that is never prepared for or even talked about, but it can happen to anybody at any time without warning. The pandemic will prove that problem very well since our government didn’t give a shit about people. One bad thing can happen, and everything you know could be gone in a flash. The chick was trying to explain how capitalism got us all royally screwed. The top ultra-wealthy will never work a day in their lives for anything they need. Jobs to them are to pass the time away. For everyone else, it is to survive on a planet that you didn’t ask to exist on. We are expected to pay for water, food, and shelter already proves how fucked society is that the basic necessities for survival put us in a never-ending cycle where we will work until the day we die. We even pay for our deaths ahead of time, and worse of all, someone right now has to pay for oxygen to breathe to keep the cycle going. Her point was the amount of money is never enough. Hence, we have to continuously keep working while never genuinely enjoying what matters to us in life which feeds into our loneliness as we search for someone to suffer with us in life.

Especially if the person is a man or non-POC cuz they probably already getting paid more than me. NO SIR, NO MA'AM. So I think she was just tryna say that people just be like that, they don't change, which sucks. Kelly is mad because someone else refuses to be an overachiever for a company that doesn’t even care about them. Like she really came here to flex but don’t realize she’s doing all of that for somebody else’s company.

    7:20 This is such a load of crap. Yes if you add up all of the hours when you're sleeping it'll add up to several years. Having said that, if I sleep 7 hours a night this means I was awake doing stuff for 17 hours. Everything that this lady is adding up is subjective and not everybody hates their full-time job because to a lot of people it's their dream job. Sorry but I ain't drinking the koolaid

    🥴 I kinda feel Kelly but only because most of the time when people suck at their job you have to pick up their slack. Other then that idgaf.
