I know. I had an LG V60. Those V series phones slapped harder than any other phone with the quad dac that they had in them. Since they don't support them anymore, I had to switch to these new lame phones with no headphones jack.

I can't charge the phone while I'm using my IEM. Why can't they incorporate the charging and listening at the same time. I haven't heard anybody complaining about this.

It is annoying enough that I need to buy a DAC, It is bulky and more loose things inside my pocket and you need to top up the battery of your phone so no Hi Res music for you until you are still charging.
If you have wired headphones just buy a qudelix 5k. You wont go back. I bought a v60 and it was a waste of money since most headphones need power to keep them alive after DAC processing. Also if the headphone has shit tuning than it will always sound like shit. Eq can fix it but YMMV

That price is a joke, DACs are usually the easiest link to achieve sound quality. Just get a fiio ja11 or ka11 if you have high impedance headphones and use the money elsewhere.

Yep, I don't stream music. The only phone that works for me is the Sony line. It alreaady has a decent DAC and I use in ear monitors with it so I'm good. If i want to drive my planars I will reach for my DAP. Though I do have a dongle made by hiby and another by creative. They rarely see any use though.

Asus and Sony's implementations can automatically change the sampling rate of an external audio device with the right software (I found Vanilla Music to be the best for this). Others like Xiaomi phones have a separate "hi-res mode" that upsamples everything to 96 khz. It's a toss-up in all honesty.
if you are on iPhone you don't need one. iPhones always release the best quality that the platform send. so if you use Apple Music with lossless it will give you that.

@aleejjj ultimately no. The m50x are an easy to drive headphone and are 100% fine just straight out of an apple usb c to 3.5mm adapter. If you dont like how the headphones sound, you dont like how they sound. You can eq them naturally, which can allow you to tune the sound to your preferences. Personally im not a massive fan of the sound of the m50x. Build wise it is solid though. Also the fiio k5 is also just simply not as good as the fiio k11 for 129usd. Dont pay more for less

The person who said that is talking out of their ass haha. a dedicated dac will never give you as much enjoyment as a better set of headphones or even a different set of headphones. be careful of a couple traps with audio. Spending lots of money on cables and overspending on source gear (amps, dacs and dongles.)

Having lossless music in your device is really sad because you are wasting tons of space without any advantage. I challenge anyone to make an AB test between losslesss and high rate loss (let say 256bps) and hear the difference. Professionals and musicians have done many times thisvtime of vomoarison, using top equipment, top environment conditions and lustening music with an analituc mind, and they have not found differences. Of course, if someone does the tests and hear a difference, using their usual equipment, I would congratulate him/her for being a superhuman. The remaining 99.9% of people should use loss formats, saving a lot of space (and possibly money). Anyway, as audiophilia is a sort of religion, I know mist if people will continue believing their corresponding "gospel" , no matter what factual tests say.
…not entirely true, but some truths. You can absolutely tell the difference between Spotify and Apple Music. Either way, lossless streaming benefits from this without storage issues that you’re referring to. Most don’t store music on their phone anymore.

Yes you need USB Audio Player or Poweramp with the right settings for that. Otherwise the AAudio API resamples everything in Android.

My choice is the fiio btr5. It works with bluetooth, has a microphone, balanced output and includes an amp up to 120 ohms

Of course, if someone does the tests and hear a difference, using their usual equipment, I would congratulate him/her for being a superhuman. The remaining 99.9% of people should use loss formats, saving a lot of space (and possibly money).
Anyway, as audiophilia is a sort of religion, I know mist if people will continue believing their corresponding "gospel" , no matter what factual tests say.
…not entirely true, but some truths. You can absolutely tell the difference between Spotify and Apple Music. Either way, lossless streaming benefits from this without storage issues that you’re referring to. Most don’t store music on their phone anymore.

OK, so 192kHz music files make no sense. Covered, done. What about 16 bit vs. 24 bit audio?
It's true that 16 bit linear PCM audio does not quite cover the entire theoretical dynamic range of the human ear in ideal conditions. Also, there are (and always will be) reasons to use more than 16 bits in recording and production.
None of that is relevant to playback; here 24 bit audio is as useless as 192kHz sampling. The good news is that at least 24 bit depth doesn't harm fidelity. It just doesn't help, and also wastes space.
