I recently got a Zenith Defy ceramic black. I wear mostly black streetwear/techwear and this watch fits my style more than any before it. After 10+ years of collecting, I think I finally found my ‘one’ watch.
I absolutely love my Chronomaster open!!! Seeing the 3604 is a privilege in itself… I CAN SEE IT ALL DAY LONG WITHOUT HAVING TK TAKE IT OFF MY WRIST. And my “sleek” wrist LOVES its 39.5mm diameter ❤️❤️❤️
I really liked this watch when it was released in 2018. I never bought it because I wasn’t sure if its futuristic look has staying power. Looks like it does as this model is now deemed a classic (pardon the pun) by a lot of watch fans. I also have bought its successor the Defy Skyline. The Defy collection has successfully established itself as a pillar in the brand’s catalog.
I purchased the skeleton with rose gold bezel. It was 30% off at Watches of Switzerland a few months back. I love it, it so easy to wear everyday and the rose gold bezel improves the visibility. I think it a great watch, not really concerned about depreciation or appreciation as this watch is not going anywhere!
I own this watch, but on the titanium bracelet. The wearing comfort is actually very pleasant because it's lighter and at the same time feels substantial. Which is very nice when the weather is hot. And the color is a darker grey. Because of the grain polishing this does look different then steel, I must say. Which I also like about it. Overal a very good purchase from a watchband with a lot of history and not afraid of experimenting with new technology!
Own the version with the titanium bracelet and I love it. The dial is magic, the bracelet is gorgeous-different, darker than stainless steel obviously. Zero complaints and it’s actually very legible unless you are on low-light conditions.
Zenith is great bang for the buck, no question about it. My wife has the 'love' watch, absolutely brilliant - power reserve, see through case back and chrono.
I'd love an El Primero Chronomaster and/or a Chronomaster Sport, if I could afford one. Don't really like the skeleton dial style on the Defy though, to be honest.
This watch looks way better in the metal as it really gives a sense of depth with the "floating" indices and there are a lot of polished accents to contrast the more typical brushed titanium. The bracelet is particularly good for a wrist roll as has a lot of facets like a disco ball. I was not a fan of skeleton watches but this is one of my favourite watches regardless.
Asking if a companies watches are any good when said company provided the movement to the Daytona for years is so dumb it's bordering on disrespectful.
Could not disagree more. A watch is more than a movement, watch companies change over time (see movado) and history doesn’t tell you about current day offerings.
Have you heard of attention grabbing content? Crazy concept for a channel that survives on it....also not everyone knows about the fact zenith movements were in daytonas

Have this watch for a year now, I can report the readability is not an issue at all. Only the second hand is somewhat hard to read under certain light, the hr and min hand are perfectly eligible. Actually it’s way more readable than my grand seiko shunbun.
Nice review :) I have a question - how do you deal with frustration when you buy a good looking new watch and after a few days you see scatches on it :D Is there a "hack" how to prevent from scratching as much as possible. I am trying to keep my new Tissot Seastar 1000 as shiny as possible for as long as I can :) Thanks in advance.
You kind of just have to accept it as part of ownership. Yes, it's annoying, but unless you don't wear your watches at all, they will get marked. Just be aware that you're wearing it, take it off if you're doing stuff that might mark it, but really, just lean into it and enjoy the ownership experience, dings and all.

I do love Zenith but their skeletonised watches are starting to look too similar. I know it's hard without a dial but perhaps they could inject a bit more colour or create more facets?
Without watching any of the video.... of course Zenith watches are worth the money. There was even a twelve year period from 1988 to 2000 when the El Primero movement was used in Rolex Daytonas! As far as heritage, Zenith has Rolex beat there as well. 1865 vs 1910. Right now, I'm lusting after Zenith ref. no. 03.3100.3600/21.C822 that costs (tens of) thousands less than a Rolex at approx. $10,000 USD.
Your review is spot on. This watch is really great for its value. I had the leather but didn’t like how tough it is. Sold it and then I got the rubber version. It wears much better and lighter too.
I have this exact watch but just on a rubber strap. I have quite a few more expensive watches but I find myself wearing (and looking at!) this most often. It's a lot of bang for the buck.
Great job as always - and agree about readability. A bit of red on the top of the seconds hand would be great; different color hr/min hands. Possible future video idea: skeleton watches at different price points. Maybe a few under $1000; $1-3000; $3-7000; over $10,000.
I respect Zenith, the idea of a desirable dial on a timepiece is my kind of watch, sure there are others that are attracted to the futuristic look of this watch but, as for me I'll pass. El Primero 36000 is my watch of choice, I have been looking at the Chronomaster Sport from Zenith, still doing my home work, the GS Tentagraph is out and, I am comparing it to the El Primero for my very first Cosmograph watch. Currently daily driving a 2023 Seiko black LX professional diver, the titanium grade 5 in them is great on the skin, titaniums are tougher than stainless steel, titaniums are non magnetic, titaniums are better than 904L stainless steel, as far as magnets are concern, titaniums cost more than stainless steel per ounce and, are far more friendlier to the wearer versus stainless steel which is heavier than titanium, at the end of the transaction some peeps do not like titaniums, this is what makes watch wearing fun, nice video on them Zenith, great job.
Love Zenith as a brand, but them falling under LVMH (and hence Tag Heuer) service centres ruins the experience of owning one long-term. My el primeros have come back with more problems (dirt, misaligned hands, poor regulation etc.) than not after multiple return visits to their workshop.
Zenith makes great watches, but I have never cared for a skeleton look in any watch. I have also not cared for titanium watches. I have one Citizen watch in titanium and it just feels too light and cheap. A good watch has to have some substance and not feel like a swatch watch on your wrist.
Zenith make much better quality watches than Rolex . Rolex spend around 80% of the cost of their watch on Marketing . Thats the only reason why they more desirable over Zenith
Zenith for me is actually bland or busy or walking skeletons. They lack identity. Of course the El Primero is a very cool caliber, but that's not enough.
That's a very ugly watch. Zenith lacks identity. Before adventuring themselves in making skeleton watches they should review their basic models and prices too.
I like this review, but I am no longer a fan of zenith! This new release fad of one model per month is so confusing and gives a lot of buyer’s remorse. I’ve been burned by it! Back to your review, the only thing I didn’t like is how dirty the watch was under macro photography, us watch geeks are quite meticulous about this and I’m used to seeing cleaner output from you. Please to clean up the watch and make sure there are no smudges or fingerprint residue before taking close up macros. Better luck to you next time, and I hope to meet you and Kai next time you are in dubai as we have a few common watch friends. Cheers

I don't know the whole range, but sometimes one watch really stands out, and looks great. I would have that over many other watches.

Been offered it for $5000 would you say it’s worth it
I've heard mixed reviews about Zenith. Some say they're great watches, but others claim they're overrated.
I think it depends on the specific model and what you're looking for in a watch.

Great job as always - and agree about readability. A bit of red on the top of the seconds hand would be great; different color hr/min hands.

Why no diver in the collection of this cool brand ?

Love Zenith as a brand, but them falling under LVMH (and hence Tag Heuer) service centres ruins the experience of owning one long-term. My el primeros have come back with more problems (dirt, misaligned hands, poor regulation etc.) than not after multiple return visits to their workshop.

Zenith makes great watches, but I have never cared for a skeleton look in any watch. I have also not cared for titanium watches. I have one Citizen watch in titanium and it just feels too light and cheap. A good watch has to have some substance and not feel like a swatch watch on your wrist.
I'm just here to say Zenith watches are great.
Is bacon good?

I like this review, but I am no longer a fan of zenith! This new release fad of one model per month is so confusing and gives a lot of buyer’s remorse. I’ve been burned by it! Back to your review, the only thing I didn’t like is how dirty the watch was under macro photography, us watch geeks are quite meticulous about this and I’m used to seeing cleaner output from you. Please to clean up the watch and make sure there are no smudges or fingerprint residue before taking close up macros. Better luck to you next time, and I hope to meet you and Kai next time you are in dubai as we have a few common watch friends. Cheers
