Ardra's wardrobe was phenomenal in this episode. Barely any skin showing and yet sensual AF.
A classic case of less is more. The imagination is a wonderful thing.

For reference, this episode aired 9 years after David Copperfield made the statue of Liberty disappear, which is the event they're alluding to with the vanishing of the enterprise.

Stage magic tends to involve many different elements of diversion of attention and confusions, so e.g. if someone does it on TV, you have to question the format, how it might be exploited to assist the deception. (Darren Brown works like that, too. He guides people into false assumptions that then cause them to believe his trick is more elaborate than it is.)
It's too bad he didn't actually do so permanently.. Let's all be honest here.. The only reason anyone likes thst statue is because of 1. It's adoption as a symbolic representation of America... Or 2. Cause they drove it in that Ghostbusters movie... In all objective reality, with emotion/patriotism put aside, it's really a very ugly statue. Gaudy, tacky.. Just bleh.

I would have been really interested to see Q's reaction to her, but I assume since he didn't even appear in this episode or ever mention it in others, he probably knew all along she was a scam.

That seems a stretch, I think a better read is disgust, discomfort, and doubt, all masked by his stoicism and professionalism. He admits later that if he is wrong his very soul is on the line further admitting his doubt.
Ha, many females during the course of this show wanted Picard more than the younger, bearded, fully-haired Riker. I had a female teacher in high school who was a huge Trekkie, and she thought Picard was hella sexy. Not despite his baldness, but because of it.

Picards stern demeanor. Voice. And method of speech- deliberate and matter of factly. Intimidating without being loud or boisterous. Confident body language. Traits necessary to lead a crew, inspire loyalty and command obedience.

The courage to face tje storm and present an appearance that although there appear to be no answers THEY would use their sound judgement and experience to find one... No rest until that time. And No matter the cost.
I love how the average-height, skinny, middle-aged bald English (supposedly French) guy ended up being the biggest heartthrob on the show. I had a girl-friend who loved the TNG, but she didn't have a Riker poster in her bedroom. It was this huge picture of Jean Luc Picard looking at the camera with a "I'm the captain," gaze. ;p

Okay, sorry what made Ardra think she could get away with claiming the Enterpise?
If the Ventaxians were to submit to her, the Federation couldn't really do anything about it I guess since Prime Directive and all. But a Starfleet ship? Did she expect them to just accept that "the devil took the Enterprise"? Also, there was no way she could have maintained this con in the long run. At some point, the Enterprise was not gonna break that cloak. In fact, I call bullshit on them not being able to break that cloak immediately. This is a state of the art Federation Flagship with the most advanced technology available and yet they are cut off by some conartist.

You do realize Picard was in his 60s when he took command of the Enterprise?
People in this era are meant to live much longer due to improvements in medicine, plus it's been pointed out by others that she likely enjoys the idea of humbling someone as strong-willed as Picard and gets some level of perverse pleasure out of it.
