    The close second to third shift M-22 was one of the things I loved about my 327 cubic inch w/ a single 4 barrel 650 dual feed double pumper Holley carb'ed 65 El Camino n cruising E Street San Bernardino Ca on Friday n Saturday nights. The Sig Erson cam was labeled 'mostly strip n little street' :) We never got shut down n raced any cubic inch or carb combo that was game to try us. excellent. motor in this video has a 650 carb. the camshaft is a solid rollor that will rev to the moon. very very wide powerband. the cam is actually defined for big inch pro-street, or turbo/Blower.

    I have two Muncie 4 speeds , sitting on a shelf as I can't use them because they can't handle the hp or torque my engine produces , even built the can't handle much over 600 hp and end up failing , the only oem 4 speed that can handle the power is a Ford top loader , two things Ford did better then chevy was the 4 speed top loader and the 9 inch rear-end , and im a chevy fan but facts don't lie!!!!!!

    • @deantruax7202
      @deantruax7202  3 роки тому +4

      the top loader will not shift as well as a muncie, from the factory. if modifed yes and the top loader is stronger. and the ford 9 has more hp loss because of the placement of the pinion in the case, and for general drag racing use with a conventional ford 9, the ford 9 is more prone to front bearing faliure. if going all out the for 9 is tougher. but thats talking huge hp numbers. i have some friends up her that run 1000 hp on 12 bolts and no problems at all. and in these acpplications its more practical. cant chnage a chevy guys mind, or a ford guy haha.. im not aloud to have anything ford

    That 2:20-1 first gear in the M22 close ratio will really challenge the launch without a low rear axle ratio like a 4:56 or lower. I would forget all the helpful tips on power shifting. The gears in this transmission are expensive.

With tons of full throttle power shifts. Trick is, no slicks. Use-ta drive the car 2 hrs to the drags, (Epping NH, and Prescot, Ark.), and always drove home. No trailer. @@deantruax7202 I give you credit for running a stick shift, in bracket racing. It takes talent to win with a clutch. It appears your car is an early Nova, (66-67?). I know the wheel wells were tight in them cars, and you're limited to tire size, and good traction. When the tubbed cars (pro street) became popular in the late 70s, it became much more beneficial for your car, but I'm guessing you're not tubbed. But low 12s with a 327 in a steel car like yours is very respectable. Now, go out and get yourself a Moser 12 bolt, and a G-force 4 speed, and give us a treat to some full powershifts. :)

    That’s a long throw from 1st to 2nd for a close ratio

      It's closer if I don't baby drive it, check some of my other videos.

      Being a close ratio has doing to do with the throw on the shifter

      Sam Spade exactly! Its the gearing inside and they think its the short shifter throw

    Shifting to slow I had a Muncie years ago I would slam them way faster

      It can shift pretty quick, faster than this video, but the best is when u video yourself and realize that what you think is quick is actually very slow.

      I've taken guys for rides and they think I'm powershifting if they don't look when I really drive it... Then I check the video and it seems super slow... It's deceiving

    lol, cocky & he has no idea how to flat shift.... Watch video
    of some of the legends like Ronnie Sox, Bill Grumpy Jenkins, Dyno Don & Hubert Platt...then come back in a few years!!

      I can powershift better than anyone. But this is a stock transmission. Il pull threw the syncro amd scrap them. A convensional ring will only shift soo fast.

    those was the days , was strange when a member of our racing team could not wait for a 4 speed, took a automatic, instead, kicked all our asses
