You are so funny & relatable (a fellow Brit). I've done 2 Caminos but not the Frances & I know how I walk, what I'm good at & what I'm crap at. As long as I keep hydrated & fed I'm fine. I love the coolness of the Camino dawns.
You've convinced me to just use hotels. I want no part of the bed race followed by sleepless nights. And then maybe also work the stages differently to avoid the crowds. Thanks.
I think working the stages is a good idea - to get out of the pilgrim bubbles. It will depend when you do it. If you need sleep - private rooms is the way to go. I also started to take afternoon naps to help with my sleep deprivation. At the start it was brutal - as I’m use to getting long, uninterrupted sleep!
Hi Sarah I've just watched these episodes and they're the best yet for viewing the reality. My partner is intent on walking the Frances in 2026. Could you tell me the device you used so that your parents would know where you are?. Thank you in advance 😊
Thank you so much for watching and for the kind words! 😊 I’m thrilled to hear you enjoyed these episodes. The device I used to keep in touch with my parents was a ZOLEO. It worked really well for location updates and messaging, even in more remote areas. Best of luck to your partner on planning their Camino Frances journey for 2026 - it's an amazing experience! Let me know if you have any other questions. 🙏
Did you expect that you would not encounter people who snore? Maybe you should have had custom ear plugs made. They work better than what you can buy. I use a Bluetooth eye mask that has built in headphones so you can listen to quiet music, or in may case an audiobook. Good luck.
it had never really come up, I'd never seen it talked about in videos and honestly I didn't expect it to be that bad. I was expecting a little bit of snooping and prepared and was was using ear plugs - but sometimes the noise was inanely loud. I like the idea of the bluetooth eye mask. I will have to check that out as at home I do listen to deep relaxing music when I sleep.
I haven’t heard of Gronze - and I don’t think Camino sleep comes in an app form. I’ve only used it via the website and then done booking via. Booking.com
Good day! It’s nice to see decent food is available. The bed race makes me very nervous… Hoping October will be less stressful.
I’m sure October will be a glorious month to do it in and probably a lot quieter!!!
Enjoying this. Was thinking of trying in the fall (2024) but the "bed race" is discouraging me. Plus the snoring. Thanks from the U.S.

@@toughgirlchallenges Thanks much. For the help and the inspiration. (At 73 I need all that I can get!)

Ahhh fantastic- will you be going back to do a 3rd?
I just booked my rooms for Sept Oct 2024. Only a few Albergue. I want sleep. Even if I "Miss out" on the true pilgrim adventure a bit
that's great!!! it's a balance and sleep is so important!!!!

Sarah, you need to up your wine consumption before bed and sleep through all that snoring! Lol
😂😂😂😂 I’ll remember that for the next Camino
Snore test should be mandatory for group sleeping places. This includes campsites lol
I agree!!!

Is Camino Sleeps similar to Gronze, a website translatable via Chrome or does it come via App form?

@@toughgirlchallenges Gronze is a website & is usable on several Caminos. Looking into it, CS appears to be just Frances specific.
All those early risers and the bed race is really off putting , I'll only be walking off-season now. Great video 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🙏🏼
Buen Camino
thank you so much for watching. I struggle with the bed race and I'm not that great at getting up early. I think off-season is the way to go!
