It always fascinated me when I learned that the keyblade didn't only belong to Sora and that there were others. The keyblades chosen one being a mistranslation, was awe-inspiring.
If you think about it Sora despite not choosen is the most choosen out of all of them, the right to weild a Keyblade isnt so much earned but just a circumstance of good starting conditions, the Keyblade cant see the true intentions neither can the previous Weilder who passes it on the Keyblade seems to be a sentient Weapon that only cares about the balance of light and dark since even evil people can create them... Sora not originally being choosen by it but proofing to it that he was worthy makes him more special than any of them, he didnt optain it as a birth right he received it like a Squire who after heroic deeds was knighted as a Hero.... I think thats beautiful
Short, concise, and to the point, a very good video. In my opinion, short films focusing on a single topic are also a good idea. You said that Sora could wield two Keyblades in KH II because he accepted Roxas's heart, but that happened at the end of the game. What about using Drive Forms before accepting Roxas's heart?
So, it doesn’t really have anything to do with Roxas’s heart. Sora having Ventus’s heart is the reason he and Roxas can dual wield. In the BbS ultimania, it’s heavily implied that Ventus’s heart transferred to Roxas when Sora became a Heartless and Roxas was born, so when Sora absorbed Roxas at the beginning of KH2, Sora regained Ventus’s heart and awakened to dual wielding.
So that's why Roxas can duel-wield. Also. I kove this video, it has answered almost all my questions except for one. The Keychains attached to the handle. I've read that they are memories or something that gives shape to the Keyblade.
As far as I can find, the origin of Keychains has never been explained. I’ve also read comments from people that Keychains are the result of memories or something like that, but I haven’t found any official confirmation on that.
You: Did you think you would ever watch one? Me: Nope and I think I am going to watch the WMBA! You handled this video with a spectacular amount of respect and got me interested in something I never thought I would be. I am not a sports guy. Keep on rocking on!¡!
Awesome video, keep em coming and I'll keep watching! I do have to ask though...in KH3, we see Riku get a new keyblade after his was literally broken in half in the Realm of Darkness. Was this ever explained? Because I thought a certain keyblade chooses one wielder? I'd be grateful to any insight.
The new Keyblade that Riku uses was given to him by Merlin the Wizard. As far as I know, it’s unclear how Merlin was able to give Riku a Keyblade though. But from what we’ve seen, after someone is recognized by a Keyblade once, they don’t have to continuously be chosen by other Keyblades. For example, when Mickey found a dark realm Keyblade during KH I, he was able to summon it whenever he wanted afterwards.
I like how they introduce keyblade of darkness and never do anything with them since that game. You'd think they would be powerful in the realm of darkness but nah, it got damaged like riku, not sora or aqua of course
I would say that’s mostly due to the fact that most of the story takes place in the realm of light. The realm of darkness isn’t seen that much, so they don’t really show the Keyblades that exist there.
@Powerman77775 any keyblade can, keyblades of darkness are created when the first keyblade wielder of a world summons their keyblade, the only reason for the counterparts existing is to close the door to darkness as it's required to be closed from both sides, any keyblade can open the pathways between realms but no keyblade can allow someone to return to the realm of light without assistance
I have a Kingdom Hearts video on my channel that’s almost two hours long. I’m working on the second part of that video now, which will probably be an hour long when I finish it.
Great video - just one thing bothers me. Its not the X blade. Its the letter χ in the greek alphabet that pronounced as "khi" or "Key". There is a double meaning behind the "keyblade", it looks like a key and its modeled after the "khi" blade.
You said the Lanes Between are called the 'Corridors of the Odd Sky'. Where did you get that from? I'can't remember ever hearing that before, and googling it gives me nothing. I don't think that's right at all.
The Lanes Between is what they’re called in all the official English material. “Corridors of the Odd Sky” is the more accurate translation of the Japanese words; that’s why you won’t find anything on google about it. Another example would be the “rite of succession.” In all official English material, it’s called the “Bequeathing,” but the more accurate translation would be rite of succession or inheritance ceremony.
Wait, so keyblades are the hearts of people that the Master of Masters ripped out and reformed into keyblades, or are keyblades the manifestation of the wielders' hearts?
Seeing as the Master pulled them from hearts, I would say it’s more accurate to say that Keyblades are manifestations of the wielders’ hearts. Though, the process to pull a Keyblade from a heart and how the Master had the ability to do this is unclear.
@mezuGC Maybe MM had a similar keyblade/ability as Riku's keyblade when he was possessed by Ansem. Able to unlock the hearts of others or with someone experienced in its function able to extract them and reform them
@hugoandre96 It could be something similar to that, yes. The only difference would be that the Master, from what we know, pulls Keyblades from people’s hearts without taking out the heart itself. At least that’s how I interpreted Nomura’s statement.
Wait, so does that mean all the heartless buzz and woody killed are just gone forever? They don't have keyblades, and lore says only keyblades can return them to normal
I took them down because I didn’t like the quality of those videos, especially my first video. The topics were good though, so I’m definitely going to remake them in the future.
Hmmmm this video has made me realize something. How come Sora can still dual wield in KH3 when Roxas, Xion, and Ventus would not be apart of him anymore so he only has one heart? I guess that logic goes to Roxas as well but since Xion's Keyblade is a replica Kingdom Key maybe Roxas and Sora's second blade are similar.
Good question. As far as I know, there’s no explanation for either. Though, people have debated on whether Sora dual wielding in KH3 is even canon, considering that his dual wielding forms were added in as DLC.
@chaossabermoo9697 Agreed. Until we get an official explanation, I’m of the mind that once someone awakens the ability to dual wield, they will always be able to do it no matter what.
@mezuGC most likely reason was since duel wielding was used in kh2 they just Wanted to focused on the transformations since keyblades aren't just swords that can can open/lock any lock
@mezuGC It's a plot hole cause how does the kingdom key D be weaken in the realm of darkness, and not soras keyblade, especially since the kingdom key D originates from the realm of darkness, the same can be said about erques kb, I think it was just to give mickey a new kb that's just my opinion with some "in game logic" if you will lol 😅
@nickdevlin3072 But it wasn’t stated that their Keyblades were weaker in the Realm of Darkness; it was stated that Heartless are stronger in the Realm of Darkness, so they should have powered up their Keyblades. That doesn’t mean their Keyblades are inherently weaker in that realm though.
@mezuGC If you have to power it, obviously means it's weaker, either way still doesn't make sense that keyblade from the realm of darkness would be weak in the realm of darkness, mickey even said their kbs were damaged, I get the heartless were stronger there, I'm just saying the kingdom key D should be able to withstand that not to mention again aqua fought with masters defender for like 10yrs and sora tho brief fought with the kingdom key, again I think it was a plot point to give then especially mickey a different kb
@nickdevlin3072 I get what you’re saying. But having to power up the Keyblade doesn’t automatically mean it’s weaker than normal. The Keyblade itself can be the same as it always is, and if the Heartless are stronger in the Realm of Darkness, which is confirmed, the statement that they should have powered up their Keyblades would still apply.
As always, if you’re reading this, thank you for watching. Let me know in the comments if you enjoyed, and any feedback on the editing of this video would be greatly appreciated.

You should really make longer videos. Kingdom Hearts lore can be so profound and yet there is so little of it on youtube lol
