As he should. The point is treating people with special needs just like everyone else. Patronicing them doesn't help or make them feel good, it's just so all the assholes who see them as being less than feel good. I couldn't give less of a shit for this performative bullshit.
@@abcdegmail Being nice is one thing and making a big show of "look how nice we are, we are letting the slow kid shoot until he can score because he could never be good enough to really score against us superior beings" is another thing.
@abcdegmail there is a fine line when doing helping someone starts to feel insulting.. Like very often in cases like this the special ed's kid could tell if ppl seem to let them score, and no one likes to win if it didn't like you deserved it... Like if you can clearly tell that the other team just let you win it can even feel insulting.. Like it's basically saying, as the other person already said, like you saying "we know you wouldn't ever actually win against us, or really could help your team in any meaningful way, but bc we are so nice we will just let you win"
this was my younger brother on his schools volleyball and soccer team. he’s pretty severely autistic, and everyone kinda played awkwardly and less severely around him, but thing was that like… he was pretty good at volleyball and REALLY good at soccer… like they didn’t have to do that😭even he noticed it, he talked about it after every game, but everytime he’d say something like “well, they’re letting me win, im fine with it”
I remember being that kid once in rugby. Never once the other team was so nice. But this other team must of known I'm autistic or something because they kepped giving me/us the ball and never tackled me. And always allowed me to tackle them. I was like 14 then and didn't know at the moment what was going on until my dad said they where going easy on me then I got pissed xd.
I may be stupid for saying this but how tf would autism make you be any less good at any sport? Ouh shit wait didn't remember how big of a spectrum autism was....
i had this happen before, only nobody told me the switched him out because they did it mid play (it was like 50-0 us winning) so they let a bunch of younger kids sub out. a kid was having is nba moment and my team was intentionally fake missing blocks and when he came to me, not knowing why this kid was so short and somehow got past my team, i just spiked tf out of the ball and got booed by the whole gym. like it was a playoff game, no reason to change the rules like that to begin with bro, dont boo me!
Albeit, I feel where you're coming from. But y'all were already winning, I know you didn't fully notice in the moment but all the hints were there. You didn't deserve to get booed by the whole gym though. No one explained anything.
@jamesryder8305 yeah i agree, nobody said anything and i was in the zone. Not to mention, it wasnt just another game, it was a playoff game after the normal season for those who made the pick teams. Im not mad that they let the kids on, just a heads up would have been nice before i made a fool of myself.
@letsget100subswithoutconte4 it was just a matter of our team being more dedicated. We had more practices, and planned great ways to work as a team. The other team simply tried to rely on their one good player to score all of their baskets.
i hated being that kid, i'm autistic and have dyspraxia and i really just didn't want to play sports (very loud, i don't understand the point of it, tiring, difficult, etc) but it was mandatory so i either got yelled at or patronized, no good option!

Our basketball team was up by only a basket near the end of the game and that kid walks up to the basket, which could be the game winning shot for their team. Thing is, I wasn’t about to lose to the kid. I blocked the shit out of him and the team was disappointed in me for a week after that.

This one kid didn’t get it and during basketball he would SCREAM at me when I missed the goal or ducked instead of catching. It got out of hand when one of my teammates picked him up and let him dunk it tho. We still won the championship my coach got mad at us and made us run the whole practice after the game and then took us out for food and ice cream
Assistant Coach: Coach! We’re down 30 with 2 minuets left. What are we gunna do?! Coach: Little Jimmy! You’re up kid. Go make us proud! Assistant Coach: Coach what?!
