I was this kid. Not like, make a wish or anything, but I am autistic and I got put on a basketball team. No one chased me when I had the ball, which i thought was weird, and. they’d all give me little awkward smiles when I scored. It felt horrible but sucks to be them, everytime my team won we went out to eat. It pays sometimes lol!

@abcdegmail there is a fine line when doing helping someone starts to feel insulting.. Like very often in cases like this the special ed's kid could tell if ppl seem to let them score, and no one likes to win if it didn't like you deserved it... Like if you can clearly tell that the other team just let you win it can even feel insulting.. Like it's basically saying, as the other person already said, like you saying "we know you wouldn't ever actually win against us, or really could help your team in any meaningful way, but bc we are so nice we will just let you win"

i had this happen before, only nobody told me the switched him out because they did it mid play (it was like 50-0 us winning) so they let a bunch of younger kids sub out. a kid was having is nba moment and my team was intentionally fake missing blocks and when he came to me, not knowing why this kid was so short and somehow got past my team, i just spiked tf out of the ball and got booed by the whole gym. like it was a playoff game, no reason to change the rules like that to begin with bro, dont boo me!

I’m this kid but for a different reason, I’m skinny, like really skinny, it’s genetic and it makes me look and feel very weak, I also had a lot of anxiety and I was terrified of getting knocked over, so most people just avoided me or looked past me during PE so I won’t get hurt.
This one kid didn’t get it and during basketball he would SCREAM at me when I missed the goal or ducked instead of catching. This went on until I decided to sit out and I watched his friends telling him why everyone goes easy on me. The way his face dropped still makes me laugh. Never apologised but miraculously got over his raging furry at me after that.
