- In todays video I'm excited to review one of my most anticipated 4K titles of the year, Avengers Infinity War on 4K UHD Blu-Ray. I was super excited to give this one a watch last night and in this video I go in depth on the video quality, the HDR, the Dolby Atmos, and if it's worth the day one pick up!

NOTE: iMDB is saying this is a 4K DI, my mistake. Not 100% sure on the DI but may be a 4K according to iMDB but other reviews indicate 2K DI as well. Also this disc does NOT contain Dolby Vision and sadly does NOT contain the IMAX aspect ratio. My apologies for any confusion!
that is the 1 thing that disappoints me that its not the Imax version and thats kind of surprising that its not in Dolby Vision usually all the Disney and Marvel Movies are normally in Dolby Vision all good though cause i dont have a Dolby player but the Dolby Vision on Vudu looks incredible
AR Media this 4k disc is so expensive in India like 5000rs for around 100$
The cropped 2.39:1 aspect ratio is the only thing that I do not like about this Blu-ray. There should be a mandate where any video release of a film that was formatted in IMAX is to include both standard and IMAX versions.

Lukethetiger Watching a movie in native 4k that is extremely heavy on VFX is not what you want.
Blade Runner 2049 did this and it was glorious
This disc should absolutely be boycotted, until they release the original aspect ratio of the film! Would you buy 2/3rds of a car, or a box of cereal, or anything else?!?
Bluray.com says it is Native 4K.
Being the first movie to be shot entirely with IMAX cameras, it's baffling Disney didn't release this with the IMAX aspect ratio. And it's not like they've never done it before. Tron: Legacy, anyone? So not cool. I'm getting the Target edition but I honestly REALLY hate the idea of watching this in standard widescreen... 😡

I’m not buying it. I’ve watched the digital copy and the vertical cropping is soooo bad! Like cut off the tops of heads bad...

Edgar Saucedo, it's not on the 3D either, and in the US they do not get the 3D Blu-Ray, but we do get it here in Denmark and other places over the world.
I can’t forgive Disney on NOT preserving the original aspect ratio. I bought the VUDU digital copy, but will not buy the disc. The vertical cropping is so bad that most character’s hair and the top of their heads are missing during dialog, and the action is messy, as there is little to no stationary background for visual reference (especially during the battle on Titan). It’s ridiculous when Thanos is like “look at how awesome Titan used to be”, and we can’t even see it because there’s a big black bar over it! No one should buy this until it is the actual movie...
I gotta wait til September 3rd to grab this one in the UK and I'm looking forward to it, Andrew have we got black bars on this one or full screen?

Other reviews I've read have said this is a 4k DI and the technical specs on IMDb say the same (no idea how reliable that is), is there any official word on the digital intermediate used?

I have a 4K tv but not a 4K blu Ray player, is it worth getting a 4K blu Ray player or just get the blu Ray disc?
Worth it to grab the 4K as it comes with both the blu and 4K for futureproofing
How is the depth? I love 4k movies like hacksaw ridge because of the 3D effect does infinity war do good on that?

Black bars on a fully IMAX shot movie + no reference audio mix. Too bad i like this much movie, would love to skip some Disney marvel releases because of this.

yea i'm not getting it it is a incomplete movie with out the IMAX apect and the sound looks like another +3 or +6 on the volume

It would be great if you would include in the description, details about what is a reference equipment player, TV, etc. does you use. Also what are your thoughts on the included digital video?
Use and LG C6 OLED, OPPO 203 and onkyo 5.1.2. Thought the streaming looked great as well. Dolby vision was a nice stand out

HDR still just amazes me. When done right it's just the most amazing thing to experience. I thought it was a gimmick before I bought my 900E but boy I could not have been more wrong. Now I don't want to watch anything without HDR.
On most discs its the biggest highlight imo and the most massive difference!
AR Media It really is. 4k you really need a huge screen to realize the difference, HDR makes the difference no matter the size of the screen as long as the TV you bought is bright enough.
Couldn't agree more people at work often ask how good 4k is, I say it's a decent jump not DVD to blu ray but it's the HDR that truly makes the difference, more so with Dolby vision.
Does the Xbox one S have HDR? Im using it to watch my movies but Im not sure if its even displaying HDR..it says all the settings are checked for it though just not sure

Hey man, enjoyed your review, it was great, and I've been watching videos to see whether the 5 extra dollars for the 4k uhd edition of avengers infinity war is worth it. most of them said that 4k is not that different from blu ray. since you watched the 4k movie edition, do you think the picture quality was better, or do you think that it wouldn't have been that much different from normal blu ray
Hey man, welcome to the channel! So glad you're enjoying the content. I think it is most definitely worth the extra $5 if you have a 4K capable set and 4K Blu-ray player, even more so if you're TV has good HDR!

Nice review! How'd you get the blu-ray early (cause of your channel)? Sucks about the audio again. Hope we don't get another awful DV conversion like we did the Black Panther disc.

Isn't regular Blu-ray 2K, and since this one is also 2K is there really a point to pay a little bit more for an upscale?
Many other advantages such as HDR, Dolby Atmos, but also the 2K to 4K upscale brings a pretty major increase in detail, more noticeable than you may think
AR Media all right I don't have it so it would have to take you word. I just don't want to throw money away for a little detail it was a major noticeable detail then sure. But I just watched this UA-cam video that said why are people buying 4K Blu-rays when they only mastered in 2K might as well get the Blu-ray and the player and TV will upscale for you. So that just got me thinking.
Buy one and test it out if you have a TV and player, deff worth trying out to experience if you haven't yet

You're right i watched the blu ray yesterday and i noticed the audio was a little bit low compared to other movies but fortunately the video quality is fantastic even in the regular blu ray can't wait to get my hands on it.

Trying to get one filmed
Picked this up on Vudu when it came out. Totally agree with you on the picture. Watched with HDR, and Dolby Atmos soundtrack on my Roku Ultra. Picture, and soundtrack were incredible, loved the movie! I now have a 4k Apple TV sitting next to the Roku.(picked it up this week) Very happy with it, great picture and sound. Have found some great bargains on 4k movies in the Itunes store. Re-watched Infinity War on the Apple TV, and thought that the picture had a slightly sharper look to it.
One of my favorite movies of the year, day 1 by far!
Since this is Disney, I don't expect Dolby Atmos (including its native Dolby TrueHD track for that matter) to blow me away.
One of the best movies and best looking discs!

Just finished watching this and it's still enjoyable after multiple viewings. Thought the colours l ooked better on BluRay than it did either of the two times (including IMAX) that I saw it at the cinema.

Really great review. I love this movie and will be watching the hell out of this disc. I wish it had the full IMAX aspect ratio though. Seems crazy that they would go to the effort of making this the first film to be shot 100% with IMAX cameras and then not include it.

I got this for Xmas even though I own it on digital. I hope for endgame that marvel make truce with imax and release both war and game on imax format with imax enhanced audio. Disney is known in recent years for bad sound mixes

AR Media I can’t tell you how much I hate black bars. We get big TVs for a reason. It’s really annoying especially when you are paying over $30 on a movie
I agree with you on Imax release of 4K. Also, The Last Jedi Had 12 bit Dolby Vision HDR. And This only had 10 bit HDR. Solo also will have same Specs in a few weeks.
Can we sign a petition to get rid of black bars. Annoying and wastes today's tv's.

I wanna get the target exclusive in 4K. We just bought a 4K player. It said preorders are sold out so hoping that’s not true and come the day it comes out I’ll be able to get it. Happened with the greatest showman and I was able to get it still. Saw it twice in theaters once in IMAX 3D and once in 3D. By far my favorite marvel movie ever.

Why hasn’t anyone from Disney or Marvel explained what’s going on with the muted audio mix? It’s getting frustrating to buy these beautiful movies and then the audio stinks

Sorry but who cares about PQ when audio is subpar. It's like eating in a beautiful restaurant but the food sucks. On top of that, this is intentional by Disney. They mix it so it works well on your cell phone or an average in-tv speaker, not on a reference quality HT setup. It's just inexcusable, and no other studio des this.

AR Media it doesn't make any sense what so ever considering that BlackPanther and Spiderman were DV :/ I think Ragnarok wasn't so what is the pattern here ? I think Disney has just missed the opportunity to beneficit from the reputation of excellency that Dolby has for many years now . Including DV in your biggest film ever made would have acknowledged this format which is far better that HDR10 !

Beautiful picture the HDR came in handy for the darker scenes. The audio had to be turned up a bit for better sound to me.

Yes imo, not a night a day, but you can most definitely notice it
Disc will have higher bit rate audio always . It will also have higher bit rate video but it is less noticable .

This does NOT put a smile on my face, hearing about the disappointing Atmos audio mix. Di$ney need to fire some people and replace them with people who know what they are doing! Watched this at BFI IMAX, Waterloo on the UK's largest screen and the audio mix was disappointing even then so I'm not actually surprised that it's not great on Blu-Ray or 4K UHD!
Yeah sadly the audio isn't the best but the visuals are gorgeous and great movie!
They don't care and won't fix the audio because people will still... like a sheep to the slaughter run out and buy it. If they are still getting billions of sales why fix it. Their wallets get fatter and our wallets get emptier😕.... THEY ARE JUST SITTING BACK AND LAUGHING AT US ALL 😆.

Tbh with you i have a 1080p screen and i am not gonna buy neither this blu ray nor a 4k display , the reason is that i f HATE black bars , i hate thoses so much that every time i zoom on the film to have a perfect ratio , thoses bars occupe 26% of my screen , and when i zoom on the image i lose so 52% of the image , and knowing that this blu ray is actualy a 2k version i conclude at least that 2k*0.52=1080p , so my screen is completly used , but if i were to buy a 4k one it would a complete messe .

Awesome review, just got it from iTunes...and the audio is weird voices are so low that you can barely hear them. Thinking of going out and buying the Blu-ray version, just to see if there's a difference

I for one like the Darker side of comics. That why i always lean towards DC
So very happy where they took this film, but I did think they could have taken it a little further.
My mum was moving so i had to help her move. And i found some of my old comics. And me being a big Silver Surfer fan. I did find some of my the infinity gaunlet/infinity war comics series. Which Silver Surfer plays a big part in.
4k hits Australia on the 18th and ill be picking this bad boy up!

i pre ordered the 4k steelbook i wasnt patient enough to wait the 10 days so i just now ordered it on Vudu so since i dont have a Dolby Vision player ill get 2 watch it in Hdr 10 and Dolby Thanos is so freaking awesome

Wanted it, but the audio with disney is depressing. I'm no true audiophile, but I purchased black panther in 4k and was constantly noticing underperforming audio segments on my respectable 3.1 system. Won't drop the money until they fix it, unless the digital copies dont suffer from this issue.

Disney must have heard the bitching about the lack of bass in their recent releases because they definitely brought the thunder with this one. Great job on the audio front and a major improvement over Thor Ragnorok or the Avengers, Age of Ultron.
I sure hope they do the same with the 4k re-releases of the first two Avengers movies, because I just ordered the steelbooks for both from Best Buy. Really love the Infinity War steelbook, I think I'm hooked on those now.

Another wasted opportunity for Disney to include Dolby Vision on the 4K disc. To me the DV streamed version looks better (not by much) to the HDR10 streamed version. Of course the disc will look better no matter what!

Dam Best Buy, they need to open already. They open at 10 a.m. Los Angeles ca. And it's 8:06 a.m. lol but am really excited to see this movie in 4k and I even bought the UK bluray version because am a big fan of 3d. Hahaha I had to have both.

AR Media, I get you. if the state's would have released it it 3d, I would have just bought the 3d version. But since I can't wait for the UK release. I don't mind double dipping because I really enjoyed this movie. I read the comment on the guy who talked about the whole movie being filmed in Imax. I would have loved to own that on my tv. But it's ok.

That would REALLY suck... but I wouldn't put it past them at this point lol
Would wish they would start filming these in the 1.78 ratio like Justice League. The full screen really lets the 4K image shine without wasted resolution on the bars. Don't get me wrong, I love widescreen movies but some films would look better in the 1.78 aspect ratio.

Watched this yesterday on 4k disc. Found it to be a great transfer for picture quality. Sound was ok. Shame about imax, heard the russia itunes version got it (kind of 1.78:1 ar)
