I've been playing for 46 years, and have been warming up incorrectly for...oh, 46 of them. When I was younger, I did no stretching because, well pieces of me hadn't stated to cramp, turn black, and start falling off yet. I started out at 130 bpm, and went to 230 because hey, That'll make you fast right? Nope. It will wear your muscles out though, so there's that! You want to get fast, with control, do these exercises Jared is doing here. They're quick, won't burn you out before you start playing, and help with control and technique. That's what makes you fast, not ripping along, tightening up, and gaining control. I came across this by chance, customized it to my warm-ups, and it has helped me. These are great videos, so if you've been playing 1 year, or 100, at least give it a try. It will help Allot. Great vids Jerod. Thanks for teaching an old dog new tricks! Do all 3. You will warm up without hurting yourself.
At the end of the lesson my face went blue only by watching. That was intense! What a great way to learn breathing normally (not holding it) while going trough the more tricky parts and at the same time managing to stay loose. This is gold and every drummer from the very beginner to the more seasoned ones should incorporate it as a part of their training.
Great video! The 16th note triplets (sextuplets... fancy) definitely helped on loosening the muscles. I think the best part about this warm-up is keeping the snare drum quiet during the paradiddles and the triplets.
Nice now do that on a low tuned acoustic set lol not as much rebound. for wrist strength I practice on a pillow over my snare. This is a good workout thanks for the upload!
Great video and example to all who hadn't worked out the benefits of this warm up, on a kit! I practice the rudiments shown in this video at t my practice pad at home, using a metronome and playing quarter note's alternating right foot, left foot, Guild Hall/Trinity college style. Playing, singles, doubles, paradiddles; inverted and reversed, then tripletise all of the above as well. I also add a five stroke roll in the same tempo as I'm practicing, I struggle using my fingers, which bothers me. This video adds further to that in a lot of ways, slight on first appearance but I'm pretty sure this will help me a lot more. Thanks very much.
hahahahaha I couldn't avoid cracking up in laughter trying to sound like a gym instructor, you nailed it, bro! funny as hell xD (and useful warm ups too)
Hi, surely you know Rod Morgenstein´s book "Drum set warm ups", I found it very useful and seeing this video reminds me some of the exercises in that book, I liked the 32´s and the 16´s triplets I will incorporate them in my practice, also, I play the paradiddle incorporating the ride and the hi hat and sometimes crashing cymbals too, there are endless combinations, thank you for all this excellent videos....
Coming back to this warm up because I want to develop my left hand/leg as equally as my right. Giving me a work out just shows how much I need to develop my left half. 🤣🤣🤣
I've see this guy play. He's polished, and fast as hell. Jared is a great drummer. I'm sure 100 bpm is nothing for him. Hell it's not that fast for me, BUT it's a Great warm up. It's improved my warm ups, as I don't wear myself out anymore.
you probably dont give a damn but does anyone know a tool to get back into an instagram account?? I somehow forgot my account password. I would love any tricks you can give me.
@Brentley Zayden Thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and im in the hacking process now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
At 5:14 All it is is double strokes, only moving around on the snare and Tom's, it helps to be a good marching snare player and knowing all your rudiments before moving on to drum set.
Interesting that you're now playing a Yamaha E-kit instead of your acoustic kit - - - and what is the Model of the Yamaha Kit you're playing? Truth to tell - I have the Entry level Yamaha DTX-500K with the triple zone ride cymbal and I love it ~ in fact, I play it more on gigs than I do my 6 piece Yamaha Oak Custom kit in Red Oak Lacquer - - although the Oak Customs are superb sounding and looking drums - the E-kit has a much smaller footprint and the on-stage volume is greatly reduced while the volume is so easily controlled by the sound engineer. Love the 5 minute warm-up - - - Im definately going to implement it into each and every practice session on both my Oak Custom and on the DTX-500K kit. Thanks for a really neat work out sequence~!
I use this kit for practicing on. For this lesson, it was perfect because it allowed me to talk while I played, so you could all hear what I was saying.
Drumeo Not to mention it probably made the doubles at the end a tad easier :P One of my teachers always made me do doubles on a floor tom because the lack rebound. It's a killer!
No lie. This is hard. And I mainly ignore mistakes and just goofily play around until I land back on track but it's already tough but getting easier a bit

Solid list, I think #5 should have just been sixteenth notes marked as diddles though. It would be a little easier to read and you'd still be playing the same thing.
... I know I can always use this, but I was sincerely hoping to find a warm-up that would incorporate all the voices in the set and get them all moving. I feel like that this warm up neglects the fact that the feet are also a part of the set as well, and probably more important as well...
That last exercise is a nightmare for me :/ I've got my toms tuned really slack and I have a 1 up 2 down configuration so it's a bit of a distance from low tom to the snare
Man I find the 32 doubles easier at a faster tempo because I find it easier to bounce at a faster rhythm than a slow one. I find myself concentrating on the slower tempo more than the faster one so I dont speed up
Hi Jared. I need to purchase an electric practice pad drum set. What ket do you recommend purchasing, both for in home practice and for small electronic group ensemble? Thanks Gary
It's kinda cool sounding... I actually do the last two patterns all of the time when I run out of stuff to play :) enjoyable. I usually go at 135 bomb however. More fun ^.^
@Dimrain13 - Well, perhaps if drumhead companies such as Evans, Remo, Aquarian, and the like would start thinking more like guitar string companies in terms of variety of weights available (ex. 5mil, 5.5mil, 6mil, 6.5mil, 7mil, 7.5mil, 8mil... 10mil+10mil), you might actually be able to pick heads that when brought to your desired pitches have more of the tension you WANT instead of the tension you have to DEAL with.
+Cesar Moreno yes it's the same. the different are the accents. 16th note triplets have an accent on 1 and on the "and", Sextuplets have the accent just on the one.
This is great for getting the hands loosened up and arms moving but a little disappointed that the only difference between Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced is the tempo. 60/80/100 What else do you have in your warm-up bag of tricks??? Next!
Oh awesome, I was pretty surprised with how nice it sounds, I haven't really looked at many electric kits, but I'm fairly familiar with the Yamaha naming scheme.
Guys, please do not shit bricks at the sight of those 32nd doubles... they are doubles. And sweeps. This excercise was nice and easy. Good chop builder. I am only 15 so all you other folks watch out lol

There Should Be A Drum Kit In the Gym- Jared Falk 2013
Nice Warm-up! I 'll try it tomorrow before my jamming session, you're awesome Jared
Great video! The 16th note triplets (sextuplets... fancy) definitely helped on loosening the muscles. I think the best part about this warm-up is keeping the snare drum quiet during the paradiddles and the triplets.
Thank you for making this channel!
Nice now do that on a low tuned acoustic set lol not as much rebound. for wrist strength I practice on a pillow over my snare. This is a good workout thanks for the upload!
You're like a damn machine!! Super awesome!! I use alot of your videos as lessons for my students!! You rock!!
aaaaaaaaaaaaannnddd the drum teacher of the year award goes to........THIS AWESOME GUY!!!!
my new three favorite words...."AND YOUR DONE" because when you say them at the end of this video......I am exactly that!!!
Great video and example to all who hadn't worked out the benefits of this warm up, on a kit!

Amazing. Thanks for sharing, Jarod!
Sei fantastico Jared. You're great. Thanks for this lesson!!!
hahahahaha I couldn't avoid cracking up in laughter trying to sound like a gym instructor, you nailed it, bro! funny as hell xD (and useful warm ups too)
This is a great warm up for kit. Not as challenging as drumline warm ups. But for getting comfortable with the kit this is great!
Seems like a great warm-up and exercise. Kicking it up to 16ths with the feet in different patterns would be interesting.
I love this advance fills

Really good drum lesson
Okay, ich bin beeindruckt !! Bis zur mitte kam ich mit 😅
Omg the last exercise is 🔥🔥
Yeah 🤣🤣
Coming back to this warm up because I want to develop my left hand/leg as equally as my right. Giving me a work out just shows how much I need to develop my left half. 🤣🤣🤣
I skipped to this video just to see how fast jared could play
It would be cool to see him do it at his max speed.
I've see this guy play. He's polished, and fast as hell. Jared is a great drummer. I'm sure 100 bpm is nothing for him. Hell it's not that fast for me, BUT it's a Great warm up. It's improved my warm ups, as I don't wear myself out anymore.

This on the acoustic kit.Golden.
I can do it all first try apart from them killer 32second notes at the end! I'm getting them on speed dial for detonate!
An hour.......no way, I guess it was just a figure of speech....GREAT TALENT you have, Thanks
Jared is like that smart kid in class. going around saying that the hardest question is his favourite. anyway, thanks for the video
Yeah
@5:45 did you intentionally try to sound like one of the Muppets?
LOL!! either way, you're awesome dude!
Yes!!! I just peed a little.
@@samsonarmor2584 too much

Jared rocks
I agree he is really good, i wish i could be like him

Another exelent video Jared!! Thanks!
the man is just the business,,awesome
Very nice! It will develop your speed around your kit also (y)
What electric drum set do you recommend for and intermediate/advanced drummer?
Roland TD-9 or Roland TD-12
Like the Master Bernard Purdie, man! Awesome..
God bless you!!! Very good!
great warm up, thanks !
your left hand is great!
JARED DO SOME JAZZ PLEASE!!!!!!!!
Due! That was awesome!
first i thought 100bpm = fast ?! ... but after seeing the 4th and 5th example, i know why it's fast :D
Very Helpful video....love U Jared
No lie. This is hard. And I mainly ignore mistakes and just goofily play around until I land back on track but it's already tough but getting easier a bit
Wish i had a drum
are these double stroke rolls more of a "bounce" or are you articulating each hit?

really good
is there a warmup like this but for double bass?
If only Jared was a little into metal :P
wow he's awesome. he played it. and talk at the same time. ( i can't do that:v) i love you jared
Fantastic
That last exercise is a nightmare for me :/ I've got my toms tuned really slack and I have a 1 up 2 down configuration so it's a bit of a distance from low tom to the snare

Hi Jared. I need to purchase an electric practice pad drum set. What ket do you recommend purchasing, both for in home practice and for small electronic group ensemble? Thanks Gary
HOW!! That awesome I couldn’t do that fast
I've tried searching this on Drumeo because I am a member and I could not find it or the sheet music pdf.
Easy warmup but very effective! Every drummer should be able to do this.
nice
Drumeo i would like to ask what kind of electronic drum-set are you using and how much was it?
Good exercise, however when I get to 95 bpm seems like I can't go anywhere. I probably need to work on s practice pad 16th triplets @95
It's kinda cool sounding... I actually do the last two patterns all of the time when I run out of stuff to play :) enjoyable. I usually go at 135 bomb however. More fun ^.^
show off!!!
reminds me of a workout video! haha
Allright! Now stretch...good! 1-2-3-4...c'mom get it up there...thats it!
enter a name here haha
enter a name here
so you're saying he's the pimped-out Richard Simmons?
Impressive.
got it! cool.
10mil+10mil), you might actually be able to pick heads that when brought to your desired pitches have more of the tension you WANT instead of the tension you have to DEAL with.
how much bars do you play each excercise? Drumeo Drumeo
cool bro !
I deem thee Richard Simmons of drumming.
Do you use the shure in ears ?????
I can barely do the beginner first set for 2 minutes let alone the last advanced for an hour...
Too bad 😥😥😰
Are the 16th note triplets the same as Sextuplets?
Because it Looks like its the same amount of notes per beat/ Measure
+Cesar Moreno yes it's the same. the different are the accents. 16th note triplets have an accent on 1 and on the "and", Sextuplets have the accent just on the one.
cool!!!
Nice n chingon ,
This is great for getting the hands loosened up and arms moving but a little disappointed that the only difference between Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced is the tempo.
60/80/100
What else do you have in your warm-up bag of tricks???
Next!
Give the man some £ and he might tell you lol!!!
That drum play along at the intro, does someone knows the name?
NO
So,so,so,so,so,so,so,so,so,coollllllllll
So nice
wich drum is it ?
Continue to inspire more musicians
what kit are u using
I believe its the yamaha dtx 950k
Awesome videos by the way Jared! :D
5:14 WAT
Okay now try doing that last part on real drums tell me how that works out for ya
i feel this. doing drum rolls down your toms is weak and sounds horrible and sloppy on a real set.
Not if you space out your rolls more. It wont sound as good as these things but its still doable
so 15 minute of warm up - beginner 60 bpm , Intermediate 80 bpm and advanced 100 bpm= 15 minutes
I guess im advanced now
Is that a td12?
yeye, a yamaha TD12
Oh awesome, I was pretty surprised with how nice it sounds, I haven't really looked at many electric kits, but I'm fairly familiar with the Yamaha naming scheme.
The Cheshire Cat Protip: yamaha has DTXes, roland has TDs, you are being TROLLed
.
The Cheshire Cat I was kidding, td12 is roland, this kit is a yamaha
ha how confusing, just shows how little I know! how embarrassing.
I can do all of these perfectly except those fucking doubles
bit tricky for double pedal metal drummers
Guys, please do not shit bricks at the sight of those 32nd doubles... they are doubles. And sweeps. This excercise was nice and easy. Good chop builder. I am only 15 so all you other folks watch out lol
I'm 14 ;)
It's easy for me.
superkillerpupy same except im 13
Well good :)!! Keep it up!
Gabby Rutenez I'm 4 , can do this while asleep!
post a video of ur swiss army rolls at 120 beats per minute then.
I had a teacher named Mrs Falk and she died. you're doomed.
Meunaj
That's what drummers do instead of doing fitness...
lame
Dosent look hard
