I have a Pecador Pilot. Same drive, same prop. Only the housing for the shaft and the mount differs. I found APC five years ago, searching online for a prop. I guess the word "Pilot", made it pop up. The old prop is just now showing significant wear. Five years of saltwater fishing and sandbars. Like you say, it looks flimsy, but it ain't. Good thing I got me a backup.
I have a pescador pilot and came across your video. I may buy a couple just incase. I like your pedal. I have the blue kayak with the yellow cords and rails but I want to switch them to orange to match my gear and I've thought about buying some quality bmx pedals to replace the factory ones.
I just replaced my pedals. I cannot believe I waited on this. The pedals these things come with are garbage. They are sloppy and squeaky. Just make sure they have bearings.
thank you for this info! can you or anyone reading this tell me how to remove the prop so I can make and install a weed guard? (pescador pilot) I took the cap nut off but stopped there as I'm afraid of breaking something. TIA
I’m not sure how the pescador props are fastened. If there is a nut behind the prop and one in front, then they may just be held by the compression of the nuts. But check the prop for a cross pin. If it has one, a pin punch should drive it out.
Can you do an actual prop removal/replacement video? I can't figure out how to get my prop off of my new helix drive and their isn't any information out there on how to. Please help.
This I know. Wilderness Systems changed the design and it is not a simple “fastened between nuts” like mine. It might be some press fit or pinned. I really don’t know because I never upgraded, which is what they suggested when I asked them for replacement props, they wanted to swap out the whole drive. You can try calling them, but they are the worst in the industry when it comes to even answering their damn phones.
Awesome! Glad it helped. I was in disbelief till I opened the package. I even thought of picking up a spare drive. The only other solution was to send in my drive and have it replaced for the new updated Helix drive. And be without a drive for how long??? Nah.
John Beyer - wondering the same thing. I have the HD with the fairing covering the prop hub. You need a small punch to remove the hub, as I'm told by WS. I want to be able to change my prop on the water, no good answers anywhere !
Not something you want to do on the water. They are quite tough, and unless your going down rapids and clip a submurged tree trunk, your not Lilkely to break it
Where can i find the correct hexnuts for the perception pescador pilot drive. I went to harbor freight & home depot with no luck. I know they’re 3/8, but they simply wont screw in. Thank you in advance
Sorry for the late response. But you’ll have to check the thread pitch. Most nut sizes come in various thread pithes. And then there’s metric nuts. A 10mm is similar in size to 3/8, but they are not compatible.
Hey man great video! What size are the pedals on the drive I'm trying to change them to orange as well, I have a wilderness recon. I know the drive is a little different but are the pedals the same? Thanks
Lol! I saw that, and have been thinking of doing some fly fishing. It’s just that it greatly limits me. I am planning on a trip to a lake that holds record size gills. And a trip to horseshoe bend . That will be all fly rod action.
Do you know if this prop also works for the latest helix pedal drive systems, like the Wilderness Recon HD? Also wondering if it’s possible for you to do a quick video explaining how you swapped out the prop on the wilderness helix pd? Thanks so much, this was great information that I have been searching for some time.
They very likely are not the same since they wanted to swap me out drives with the “upgraded” pinned prop. But look at your prop, it should have a part number molded right into it, then call APC props, give them that part number and if they made it, they should have them readily available.

Good news, APC has updated their website now with a page for Marine props!
Aliexpress has the same nylon props for $3, I just bought 5 of them. Make sure you type 14x6 or 14x8 gas/oil propeller. Hope this helps you guys. 😉
Thanks. I already checked it out.
ps. Longer blade will produce more trust and require more power to pedal?
Thanks for the information.
i have pin drive... i dont like it i want to able to reverse

Great video bro, good info for replacement parts. Life savor.
Glad to be of service. It took me years to find out.
Boom, done! Thanks. Bought 2.

Btw. Those props are pretty cheap. I’d order some extras. And once in hand, you’ll know for sure if they have a cross pin.

Nice video, I was looking for a new one 👍🏾

Do you have any sources for the prop shaft bearings and seals? I've been searching but not much luck.

nucanoe has free parts for life
Wow! Now that’s a good company.

They should be standard pedals. I just got them off of Amazon.
man, I miss your old fly rod fishing content.. its what started your channel. your magic gill fly has 47k views.. that should tell ya something

And my prop is just two nuts and star washers that sandwich the prop in place.
@@Caughtitoutdoors I appreciate it, I will take a look at mine and see how it is assembled and if I can find a number. Thank you!
I'll feed the algorithm one more time. As my friends in prison would say, "shank you very much."
