- Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (or what it's more commonly known as: "The DK Game You Play With Bongos") is quite an odd little title. It's got a gameplay loop that's an absolute blast, and yet no one seems to remember or talk about it. So, how about we... I don't know, talk about it?

To be fair though, that final smash kinda sucked in fights. Any stage bigger than Final Destination, and you could just... Walk away from it. XD

this game was one of my favorites as a kid. i feel vindicated someone actually remembers it, because i still think it's a blast to this day. the controls were weird and unconventional, but there is something kind of fun about the bongos.
Yeah, the bongos are what makes this game for me personally. Not only do they give the game a unique "flavor," but they're super fun to use as well. Not as good as the mainline Donkey Kong Country games to me, but a fun one nonetheless.
@@DuoStuff Yeah, 100%. The bongos are weird but I did find them fun to use. I think the only drawback was the clapping (it kinda gets uncomfortable after a while lol), but once I figured out tapping the side of the bongos registers as a clap, that solved that problem pretty quickly. I myself never played any DK games aside from Jungle Beat, though I've wanted to try one of the DKC installments for years, so I think that's partially why it's a particular favorite of mine. I feel like the GameCube had a few unusual, but good games that flew under the radar (Wario World also comes to mind), so love to see people talking about some of em more.
@@GeekHippieEndarkenedI've been waiting so long to say this but Pro Tip: if you tap the plastic in the middle of the bongos hard enough it registers as a clap.
@@mrgarrisson13 Yeah lol I figured that out when I was kid and man it made playing the game so much easier. Tapping the side changes everything. NGL I also sit on that pro tip a lot cause I dunno anyone who's played this damn game aside from me but hey I hope someone discovers this info and finds it useful, cause it's much more conducive than clapping for a couple hours
Man the clapping does get a little tiresome after a while. There were points where I would just grunt or blow into the mic to activate it.

I legit randomly thought of this game and the four forgotten kongs that came with it last night and... here we are.
sadly only played the 'new play control' version, but indeed, it was a blast from start to end!
Never played Jungle Beat, but my friends and I loved Donkey Konga. It was Guitar Hero before Guitar Hero existed. I still have my bongos. Some day soon, i'll introduce my 6 year old to the games, and let her go ham them.
Love the use of Fear Factory.
To be honest, I played jungle beat so much now that it is now up there with my favorite Dk games.
First: Oh yeah, I freaking love that track. I also used Life in the Mines later for the same reason.
I enjoyed it and all, but I guess it's just hard to compare it to DKC1, 2, Returns, or Tropical Freeze in any way that's remotely fair. It's a fun game, but lacking a bit in a lot of areas.

In the wii version, they tried to implement a story funnily enough. But I still love it regardless.
Yeah the Wii version is a bit different actually. They modified a lot of things to make it work without the bongos interestingly enough. XD

Have you ever played Donkey Kong '94 and/or Mario VS. Donkey Kong? They're these beautiful puzzle-platformers that kept the soul of the arcade game alive, whilst expanding it into (in my opinion) one of the best handheld games I've ever played. That series is highly recommended from me and many others.
Yeah I have. I really like those games, especially MVDK. I also liked the minis... For like a title or two. XD

I wouldn't be against that actually, but not right now. I'm focusing on Jungle Beat, Returns, and Tropical Freeze for now.

I was originally going to skip over this but your video has encouraged me to check this game out.
It is a good game, but it has its issues. Though honestly I would recommend Returns or Tropical Freeze over it any day.
@@DuoStuff I'm not expecting it to reach the levels of the Original Trilogy, Returns, or Tropical Freeze but the gameplay just looks like chaotic fun.

Always wanted to play this back when I was a wee lil' egg. Ended up getting Smash Melee instead. No regrets, but I gotta wonder what kind of life I'd have led if mom brought this home from the store rather than smash. Would I be a drummer? A bird abuser? A harambe truther? We may never know

Yeah I don't think your life would be THAT different. But yeah, getting Jungle Beat instead would've been interesting, if unfortunately. Melee is definitely the better game by a mile. Also thanks!

Yeah bizarrely enough, the Wii version doesn't allow you to use bongos for some reason. So I'll stick with the Gamecube version personally.

Yeah it's more expensive since you have to buy both the game and a pair of bongos. XD

@@DuoStuff yeah and since it’s a game cube game it’ll cost a lot of money in the bongos will cost even more since they’re probably rare now there is a Wii port though you do all the things with the Wii remote and nunchuck like swinging and doing all the stuff

Oh the way I deinterlace my GameCube games is I use a gchd adapter for my GameCube but you’d need a capture card to go with that method but I’m sure there is a way to do that on a emulator
I have an HDMI converter for my Gamecube as well. This is, depressingly enough, the best quality I currently know how to capture. Maybe I need to get a better HDMI adapter. XD
Oh I hope you find a way to deinterlace the games in time for your next GameCube video and hopefully without having to pay a insane amount of money
Actually if you have a hdmi adapter that you can use Progressive scan with then you can try to use Homebrew GameCube program called Swiss to force GameCube games to run in Progressive scan you can find out how to use Swiss in this tutorial ua-cam.com/video/hZgqdjX3AvQ/v-deo.html and it dose not cost a lot of money
