Remember in the Sims 3 You could look at the neighbourhood view and see a party going on and have the option to crash it? I miss that feature the most. It was just a nice detail that reminded you there was a world outside your sims.
Legit, it probably wasn't the smoothest experience but the world in Sims 3 truly felt alive. Just yesterday I started a new game and while looking around in my neighborhood I found a random protest right in front of the City Hall. Ended up sending my sim there and that's how she met her current boyfriend (he was one of the protestors). Those sort of details make the game so much more charming and fun to play.
@Reilley, Daniel I can’t because my graphics card doesn’t recognize the game. I’ve been looking for a fix but yet to find one. Until then it’s sims 2 👏
That or maybe Sims 3, I never had a Sims in Sims 3 died from needs failure. Sims in Sims 4 will die from starvation in a room full of fridges, which is about as bad as Sims 1, but at least Sims 1 has technical limitation for its time despite their best effort, same excuse can't be made for Sims 4.
I've been bitching about this since day one. They were advertised as the smartest sims ever just because they can multitask, yet the whole multitasking thing is what makes them the most stupid, tedious, micromanagey sims yet.
those aren't actual sims in the trailers They're 3D models designed and colored to look like sims Animators created the trailers That's how you get the unrealistic emotions and interactions
Never realized how much false advertisement was littered in the Get Famous promo….. almost all of those scenes they showed for the acting career aren’t even in the game.
didn't they originally state that they removed the open world aspect so they could optimise the lots, make them more crowded and well done? seems so lazy
These trailers are part of the problem. People, including myself at one point, saw these and got all excited and would go buy whatever the trailer was selling. The unfortunate part is that nobody's Sims ever act this way. It just doesn't look like this in game. Nothing is ever coordinated, half the time things don't work right, I feel like it's just misleading. People need to separate fact from fiction. Fact being what actually happens in your game and fiction being these trailers. I think we so desperately want these things to happen in game that the hope that it actually will overpowers the reality of how Sims behave and what the world in game is actually like.
@@Victor_Graves I know what you mean, I've done that before too. It's just the way the game is. I've been playing TS3 for the last few days. I made a new Sim and started out her life. She had very little money a small house and crappy furniture. I always set my lifespans to long so they have plenty of time. One of the first things she wanted to do was get married because she's family oriented. So I started the journey of finding Mr. Right. I went through like four guys before I found one that worked out. She lived her entire young adult life before I was able to find someone, build a relationship and become boyfriend/ girlfriend with them and I'm still broke lol. The Sims 4 is just too easy and everything always works out, there's no challenge. In the other games you had to work a little more for the things you wanted and the Sims act more like a real person would. It ends up making the game less fun when everything is handed to you. It's too easy to make money, everyone is always happy, job progression is too fast, building relationships is too fast and all that combined make for a dull game.
Fr, i was so excited seeing the high school years trailer and got it and it's definitely not as fun as the trailer made it out to be. I still have fun playing but still, it was so misleading and it's honestly my fault for thinking it would be like the trailer 💀
100% misleading. What you see in the trailers may or may not even occur in your game. Seasons is one of the worst offenders. I’ve literally NEVER seen a water or mud puddle, stopped getting the option for my Sim to shovel snow years ago, to have a full table for your Grand Meal like you see in the trailer you pretty much HAVE to cheat, etc.
The environment AROUND the lots is always SO rich in detail, if you’re worried about performance MAYBE make the surroundings (which are mostly unusable anyway) less detailed and then put more detail onto the actual lot?? This just makes zero sense and this build is horrendous. Making it more furnished for the trailer is literally false advertising
Spot on. When I got Cottage Living I was having severe peformance issues in the open countryside neighborhood. Coupled with the light rays from a green ecosystem that came with Eco Lifestyle and I was running a nice 2-3 frames a second. Moved to Willow Creek and no performance issues.
Agreed. I wasn't sure on cottage living but it's one of my favourites after city living. The bagford village is quite remiscient of the UK to fairly quaint accuracy (in parts). I love the vegetables and thr quaint decor abd outfits. I probably use cottage living CAS items and decor more than any other because of the difference.
I still don't understand why the "lower end pc" excuse is still a thing. What was the point of the legacy edition if they're still going to limit lot detail and game play for those that are still able to play new releases?
That Get Famous trailer made me cringe so hard. I got the pack from a sale long after its' release so I was well aware of the features. Never watched the trailer (nor do I do watch them even now for I know official ones for any game tend to be bullcrap) but now that I saw it here... sheesh. I feel like they put more effort into their stupid trailers than in the actual game.
Tbf the marketing department makes the trailer and the software team makes the game but I think your point still stands. They need to either give the actual game some of the money they’re putting into marketing, or at least attempt to make the trailers reflective of real gameplay
They’re going to have a heart attack when a different life simulator rolls around and steals all their customers. Maybe some competition will force them to up their game.
If paralives is a good, functional game TS4 will become obsolete & im here for it. The whole game & every pack needs to be redone or something because it’s nearly unplayable at this point
Majority of the trailers don't feature real game-play & are not done on the Sims 4. They just animate all of that stuff. For Dine-Out, that's just an animated video. That's why all the sims are behaving and the restaurants are populated. Same with every trailer they have released. It is false advertising because when you buy the pack, you don't get to have that same experience at all.
I’m happy I’m not the only one who is annoyed with how big and empty the school is. They honestly could’ve made it smaller and did a lot more with it. It honestly feels like a hospital building imo
the thing is, they don't even need to do shitty builds as a reason so lower end pc players can still play. it's a bit hard to implement completely different builds in different setting versions, like, if you changed your settings midgame, it'd either crash or destroy the existing things and replace them with the higher end versions, which could ruin someone's work in the game. but what isn't hard is implementing code that changes things like the npc spawning rates and amounts, and the debug menu items for the surroundings. so they could make the highschool experience the exact same as the trailer for everyone, but then have it so that if someone has it set for lower settings, there's less people walking around, but also less assets, meaning your game won't load certain objects in the world until you get a certain distance from them, and it reduces the amount of debug menu type decor around you, that's sorta like how some games like minecraft work, where you can set it for lower specs and it'll spawn less creatures and load less of the world around you. this would allow them to have the developed pack they portray in the trailer and still make it playable for people with lower end pcs. also, i'm pretty sure the reason why they don't get in legal trouble for these trailers is because it's considered cinematic gameplay trailers. so basically it's like those machinima things you mentioned, they're like a short movie type thing made to sell the game but doesn't actually represent what the game is. i mean, mobile game ads do it all the time without even a legal disclaimer to state the trailer footage doesn't represent actual gameplay and they just keep going like it's nothing
You can't just "change the game" where ts4 is concerned. It seems to be a very set-in-stone system. That is just inherently broken. There is no fixing it.
The cottage one was the last thing I've bought, and was the one that brought me back to the game after giving up on it for years. I really enjoyed it, and I think for the most part it actually works. There are some annoying things, like every pie I make gets put down somewhere in the living room for some reason, but there wasn't anything really game breaking. At least, not that I saw. I still don't understand how my cow can come in third in a competition with only two cows, though.
Agreed, cottage living was actually genuinely good. On the whole though with talk about Sims 5 increasing I'm looking back over the games (which I've been playing since Sims 1) and realising that Sims 4 just isn't. I want to go back to Sims 3 but due to a bunch of life changes I'd have to buy all the expansions again.
@@littlebear274 I want to go back to The Sims 3 but I just can't get used to its Build Mode. 😖 I love building and Sims 4 undoubtedly wins the Build Mode category. But gosh, now that I think about it, even the camera angle in Sims 4 is bad. 🤦 It wins Build and Build only 🤣
My llama was literally the only one in the competition, so I was like cool easy win right? IT CAME THIRD?! I was so mad and stopped going in the competitions lol
I missed the trailers that are actually look like it is actually from the game like in the Sims 2 days. AND they list down actual features in trailers. PLUS there are easter eggs and surprises in the game not featured in the trailer. Trailers nowadays have more glam and flashy effects. So much misleading elements in the Sims 4 trailers that looked more fun than it is.
The last couple of packs are empty. Here the problem EA got rid of a lot of people that were from the beginning of Sims 4. The people they have now are not very good. Look around at the old worlds and then go into the new worlds like the wedding world dead as a door nail.
they know that the people who were expecting high quality gameplay left a while ago. only the hardcore fans + desperate simulation life gamers like me stay for this crappy buggy game. so they know they don’t need to put out quality packs nor update them lmao
In my opinion, it would have been a great feature to Get Famous, if they made small clips like in the trailer, so you would get these mini films with your sim in the role. Like in sims 2 we had those cute mini-movies when something big happened - I never grew tired of watching them no matter how many times I had seen them before. I don't know if it makes sense, but then the pack would have been more true to the trailer, and a lot more fun to do the acting carer. Just imagine having your old sim sitting with their grandkids and be like "I was quite a big actor when I was younger" and then be able to put on your own movie to show.
The Sims team should make 2 versions of every single lot in the game (1:25). We have a My Library that feels barebone compared to The Sims 3 lot bin. There's no reason not to populate My Library with more lots.
I last played the game around the time the werewolves pack came out. I wanted the cas and bb objects and thought it'd be fun to play as a werewolf. I was so annoyed with how constant the werewolf changes were, especially for teens who then couldn't go to school because of the transformation. And it was just kind of the last chance I gave the game. I stopped having teen sims and turned aging off for the main sims I played as, and had very set stories I played out. A bit after I stopped playing, I heard about the patch that ruined saves because of the aging issue. And I just haven't cared enough to go back. I legit miss sims 1 through 3 so much more now. I loved the social progressiveness of the fourth game especially when it comes to sharing clothes and hairstyles, choosing body frames, and being able to change whether a sim can get pregnant or pee standing up, but I'm ready to give it up the series since I can't get the old games to work on my pc and 4 is trash and 5 isn't going to be any better if it ever comes out
If you can get sims 3 working (and there are some mods that might help with this too) there are mods that add some of sims 4's features that you listed. I know for sure that there's a mod that enables clothes to work for both ingame genders, and there are mods that allow male sims to get pregnant, though i think it requires specific male maternity cc, so that one's two downloads.
If they had just merged the best parts of TS2 and TS3, added in TS4 build and buy and CAS, and then expanded from there this could’ve been such an amazing game.
They'd pretty much need Gordon Ramsay to step in as project manager and bring the dev team from Path of Exile combined with whoever made Rimworld for the Sims to have any hope at this point.
2:00 I have actually had my sims do this on single beds before they go to sleep, but it's never something I've told them to do. They just do it autonomously kinda like how some sims do the "relax" action before getting under their covers.
The kneeling on the bed thing seems impossible to replicate on purpose, but just yesterday I bought my materialistic sim a new bed, and when I clicked "admire new object" she crawled onto the bed and kneeled on it to do so.
In Sims 3 Generations there was a video camera you could buy that your sims could use to record videos that they could then watch on the TV. Man...that game was not without its issues but the Sims 3's depth of gameplay was AMAZING.
Dine Out seems to work fine when at one point many years ago. But it broke after one patch and it haven't been properly fixed since (they do released several fixes, but it doesn't seem to be resolving anything).
@@mickeyg7219 that’s a shame :( hopefully they end up fixing the pack soon and maybe even give it some additional features like spa day I have little hope but maybe just maybe they’ll end up fixing it
Mine is still super buggy but about 70% of the time I can get my sims through a meal. My biggest issues: (1) When the lot loads the chef is always standing outside and won't go to the cooking station until I reset them. (2) No one stays seated😣. (3) Sims stop eating after they finish their drink and won't finish unless you give the command. (4) Random resetting in the middle of eating. (5) Waiters leaving dirty dishes all over the place even when there's a waiter station. (6) Celebrities.😠 Your party insists on getting up to go freak out... To be honest Dine Out is one of my favorite additions. I love being able to create restaurants with different vibes and food: Asian, Latin, drinks and tapas, baked goods/sweets, ice cream, pizza, experimental food, vegan/vegetarian, seafood, brunch, barbecue, etc. It allows you to be creative and adds much needed activity to a game that is honestly kind of empty of things to do. I just wish the Sims team cared enough about the game and it's players to put genuine effort into fixing what's wrong with it.
Me too and then I realize that's because I have Carl's mods. I played it without mods a long time ago and my Sims took 8 hours JUST FOR FOOD TO ARRIVE 😭😭😭 EA has been so irresponsible, it shouldn't be up to modders to fix their games.
0:39 you know what. I don't understand why they didn't just decide to make a console version for the game. What I mean by that is in sims 3 you had the big open world game for PC, and they had two console spin off games that obviously wouldn't have been able to handle that world. So instead the sims 3 console base game and sims 3 pets console had a world similar to the sims 4's current world. There were also some notable differences like the loading screen and only having a small number townies in the console version, it in my opinion works extremely well for a life simulation game being on console. So I don't understand why the sims 4 couldn't do the same thing like they did in the sims 3.
@@jesperlivid9184 it was a bit open world, for example you could move freely in your neighbourhood and the townies houses in that neighbour hood. But if I wanted to move to the city centre say, there would be a loading screen.
The reason they gave us the exact same thing as PC this time is that console players never got the chance to play the exact same game as PC players, it was always a bear bones and striped down version. That being said, Sims 4 is unplayable on the last gen consoles, lags and glitches that we as console players can't just mod out or clear our caches to fix.
@@chasgene-marie6466 there is I'm saying why couldn't they have just made a separate console version of the sims 4. Instead of making it cross compatible
I legit watch my sim sit down watch tv for 5 seconds then get up and walk over to the table. Then go back and do it again and again. And again. for 10mins straight
The Sims in Sims 4 are smarter with pathfinding then they were in the previous games and... well, that's it. They're still dumb af, just not that dumb to imprison themselves in the corner by putting a dirty plate down in front of them, no other differences regarding inteligence.
They may not trap themselves in a corner with their own plate. But they will yeet a water glass onto any and all available surfaces then complain when it starts stinking. And they'll walk past the perfectly functional kitchen sink, dishwasher, and trash can to wash their plate in a third floor bathroom that's occupied. In the high school I built, girls using the bathroom in the basement have to walk all the way upstairs to wash their hands. Bestie, you're late for math! Go to class!
@@wildboywifey6485 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 This is hilarious and also really sad because it's 100% true. I get SO annoyed with the whole walk to the other side of the house rather than use the sink behind you stuff. I also hate when you seat them in a chair and then click on them to read or do homework and they insist on going to some random spot instead of just pulling out the book where they are.
Good morning I’m just now seeing this video and I really appreciate you for making this lol you stated at some point in the video you know exactly sure why you made it but honestly it was much needed because this is something that a lot of us some players have been feeling and experiencing and it kind of helps us further understand how we’re feeling I guess and making sure that our feelings are pretty much validated and not just the only one that is out there feeling that sim players expectations were not being met And the majority of us is kind a let down every time the game comes out because we’re expecting one thing in another is given
The school being different based on graphic settings is such a great idea. Because on my main save I never use maxis builds, but on my multiplayer save (S4MP) I have to use maxis builds because my friends PC isn’t great, so we don’t have another option and the build just feels so lacklustre. I think the gameplay heavily involves how the school looks. It can make or break the experience for high school years, and even though we could use the gallery we can’t but having a more detailed school based on his graphic settings would make all the difference. Edit: sorry for the rant 😭
EA should make two versions of builds (I'm thinking of the high school specifically). One for those with less powerful pcs and one that's more cluttered/decorated for others. I guess it would be too much work for them, but it's embarrassing how lackluster the builds are, especially looking at the simtuber builds in Snowy Escape and how decorated those are. EDIT: Holy shit mans just said what I typed. I was 30 seconds in when I wrote my comment lol.
I actually don't have too many issues with dine out like everybody does their job and sims sit at their tables, but it does take like 4 hours to get their food.
OMG I wish I could give this video a bunch of likes! I have been making comments to other Sims you tubers for years ranting on the false trailers and how the Sims base game advertised "Smarter Sims, Weirder Stories " was also a lie. The one thing that saves EAs a** is when they post "not actual game play ". Thanks for posting this! The Sims is a product and when they advertise features that are not the reality of the product they are guilty of false advertising. I'm sure they are making a lot of money from younger Simmers getting caught in the hype and spending their money on disappointments. There are also the you tubers they follow who help glamorize contents later found to be broken or over glamorized.
I've been watching your videos since I found your channel a couple of weeks ago for entertainment and I used to think that you hated on the Sims 4 too much but you actually made a really good point with this one. Your analysis on the pack's trailers is great and you noticed some things like the way the tell a story or just explain the pack that went unnoticed for me. You are working hard and putting a lot of effort in these lately so thanks for doing it and sharing with the world. I'm having a rough end of summer and your videos are helping me and putting a smile on my face so thank you so much 💚 Love from Spain 💃🏻
God this only shows how much false advertisement they've got. You should make a video sometime where you react to old Sims 1, 2 and 3 trailers! Could be fun, especially as there was way less false advertising in those! :D
wait it never occurred to me people believed the trailers were gameplay footage... im giggling imagining people at ea trying to set up their sims and film them for trailers
It would be really interesting to see you do over some S2 and S3 trailers and see if some of them do the same misleading things! Also, I always assumed they just used the normal Sim models and animated them like a movie to make the trailers, not moving them around in game.
2:02 When I was playing with my sim teenagers I saw one sitting like this but without the tablet, I may be saying crazy stuff because before I started playing with my sim teenagers I downloaded a bunch of cc and maybe even mods, I'm not sure, but I remember one of them sitting that way (by themselves, I didn't make them sit on bed like that).
One of these days I'm going to test this "we do it because our players all have bad PCs/laptops" theory. I have accumulated enough parts over the years to build a slow PC by today's standards. I also have a 10-year-old laptop lying around. I have a strong suspicion that these devices will have no or at least few problems running the game...
I find the actual gameplay of the Sims impossible to play. I love cas and build mode and spend hundreds of hours creating sims and their homes, but every time I try actually playing with those sims I just find myself frustrated with how short the days are, how often needs need to be met, how often sims do something you don't want them to do, how hard it is to get your sim to do activities with a friend, how goofy the animations are, etc. I make a character I love and want to live out their life, but I just find it so lacklustre and buggy that I get fed up and leave to design a new Sim. How anyone actually plays the gameplay I have no idea, but I admire you for it.
I think Snowy Escape was the worst. It made it seem like there was a working train station, that people used the station, met people off there, hung out there, and you couldn’t even get anywhere near the station in the actual world. It was a dead area. They also had people taking and posting photos like it was Instagram..lol there was absolutely nothing in the pack that was even vaguely about that.
I used the Get to College mod and the lot types that you use have Sims doing things all the time. It's the piss poor devs they have now. They even screwed up the moon when they introduced moon phases. I had to put in a replacement moon so it didn't look like a white filled in big dot in the sky, the sun is also messed up. If the sky is pink/ purple especially in cottage living by the bar when the sun is going down you now see the the lines on the colors of the sky instead of the lighting blending them. What I read about the lighting in HYS is a total nightmare, one person said that no matter what the weather it was dark and dreary, that after 5 mins playing in Cooperdale she wanted to jump out a window, lol. They claim they fixed that but I don't own it and don't want to own it. Dine out did work in the beginning.
1:54 I know it’s an old video but I saw some of your sims in let’s plays sitting exactly like this and I was actually so shocked that they can finally do that😭😭
This is just so interesting to watch because a lot of us really don’t pay too much attention to the trailers but we get distracted by cute little things in it. So a lot of us miss the misleading details and never realize that it was advertised. Looking at each one with you, it’s just unreal. I feel like there’s a source game that the team has and it’s exactly how the game should play out but what we bought was a very bad copy that couldn’t be fixed and they continued to just build on that. I think that’s why the sims behave a certain way in trailers. They promoted Leonardo DiCaprio and we got Mr.Bean. (I adore Mr.Bean)
I got the premium edition of the game when it came out. They were really really pushing how smart and unique the sims would be in sims 4. Not sure why they put so much emphasis on the least considered aspect of the game.
Why is it that they suddenly can build for the trailer (see cottage living) but when it comes to in game suddenly the windows are off center and the building is physically impossible etc.
0:35 there is literally a “laptop mode” feature. If you untick it, the game should fill up your communal spaces with all the details it possibly can. You can’t pretend that bare bones everywhere is some kind of a helping feature. It’s like endless “posterity measures” in politics when really they’re just keeping the money to themselves.
You're correct! for me though, I peeped this behavior from EA/TheSims team as far back as S2 & S3, but I think it only got worse In S4, nothing really shocks me anymore; I expect the trailers to give a false reality of the game 🎮. A lot of games do actually, but yeah. And I liked what you said about the Cottage Living trailer description, it's what they used to do in older Sims games, broke it down in a fun, but realistic way.
they made sims 4 look bright, beautiful, detailed, the thing is this game was released in 2014, and here many years later it still looks like it was made in 2014. They have made no efforts to update or anything. MOBILE SIMS looks better than this (not freeplay obviously) but they dont need to make a whole new game, THEY NEED to have a huge sims 4 update.
1:53 my one sim I made to play the HSY pack definitely did get in that pose on the bed with the ipad thing. he only did it autonomously though and I never tried to replicate it 🤔 his house was very empty so he basically just had the pad to entertain himself with and vey few places to sit, if that makes a difference.
Sitting on their bed like that may just be something they can only do autonomously because I've seen my child sim do it quite a few times since aging her up from toddler last week. The first time it happened her mom was sitting in bed watching TV and she climbed up on her dad's side of the bed and sat like that to ask for advice about a bully.
To me it’s false advertising on many of their advertisements and the fact that they haven’t been sued over them is beyond me. I remember a time when ads for TS3 and other previous titles didn’t even have the full gameplay jammed into the ad. Sims 4 ads are literally the whole pack plus what you wish actually came in the pack as far as gameplay and sometimes even items! Like that window people thought would be included in the pack but wasn’t LOL.
Unfortunately, they likely can't get sued over it. In the trailers they always include a disclaimer about 'not everything you see may be in the game'. So.. they can essentially put whatever they want without consequence because people see the trailer, get excited, and buy the pack. By the time they find out the truth when playing, it's too late. And since there's a disclaimer on the trailer, nothing can be done except returning/refunding, which I hear takes months or even years on occasion.
@@salientspoon yea I tried to refund the get together pack and they refused to give me a refund for it. I argued with customer support for hours over it and they told me there wasn’t anything they could do.
First time commenter here, loved your guidelines 😂 this came up on my suggested and I'm SO GLAD because my gf and I get annoyed when we don't get what's advertised! Good to know it's not just us
I don’t think they actually use the game to make the trailer. It’s probably an independent company that doesn’t have anything to do with the game design.
Quite plausible. I'm sure they create 3D models that look like Sims. Hence why they can do things in the trailers that actual Sims from the game could never
OMG I recognize that teenager sitting in bed from HS! In URBANSIMS parenting predicament series, her teenager sits in the bed like that, totally random, just staring, but WITHOUT an iPad o other object, she even commenting it wondering WTF shes doing just sitting like that, SO CREEPY
For real.. like the school was so dissapointing i instantly popped down one from lilsimsie to replace it 😂 like i was not having that empty horrible thing. Like i have a pc that runs it no issue but even if i didn’t i would have popped down a different school anyways. Also the university thing like sims 3 university felt rich, sims were playing beer pong there and having parties some were streaking others talking and yet others were doing juice keg stands. If you went anywhere people would be doing shit instead of just walking around and doing nothing like in the sims 4.
It's not just that unrealistic trailers make games less popular; I think it's more like when they know they screwed up and have a really shallow pack or glitchy pack on their hands, they make unrealistic trailers to try and create a big rush to buy, before word gets out that the pack is not so good.
also, quick note on the "low end pc/laptop" excuse they like to pull. i have a pretty decent gaming laptop - it runs all sorts of big games just fine. i can play dragon age inquisition for hours with no issue for example. however, the sims 4 lags for me quite often, almost at least once for a couple minutes every time i play. so the older the game gets, and they keep using that same excuse, the more annoyed i get about it lol
If they did a list of features for Dine Out, it would go something like this "Dine Out, where your sims can go to a restaurant and eat a meal, first pick your sims to go to the restaurant, then you get to the restaurant and the host will show you to your table, hopefully. Then get the waiter's attention to order your meal, don't worry if he's playing on his phone or doing pushups, he'll get to you eventually, then get his attention again cause he ignored you the first time, then choose your food and drink for each sim in your party, then wait about 6 or 7 sim hours or until your sims have died from starvation, for your meal to arrive, ahh there it is (shows the waiter putting the plates in front of 2 skeletons or the 2 sims now ghosts) Bon Appetit, and be sure to leave a nice tip if you enjoyed your meal, Dine Out, where you can dine out if you don't die of hunger first.",
I like to think that the sims in this game have their own character to them. Sure, they stand and then sit multiple times while talking to their selves but like its kinda fun and quirky.
DId anyone else notice that in literally every trailer all the lots are filled with life, there's many sims there just hanging out and doing their stuff in the background, but then you go to those lots and it's so empty and depressing? :D Like there are so few sims there at diff times of day and all they do is either sit or order a bar drink in a very boring fashion. No craziness and diff kinds of autonomy going on, just nothing.
I always hear people complain about Dine Out, but as long as I play with the restaurants EA has provided it always works. It only goes bad when I use a building off the gallery because it's not streamlined right.
So weird seeing all the 'sims won't actually behave this way/do what theyre supposed to' on everything in ts4 when they had almost no problem doing that in ts3 and ts2
There was once a time for me when I would get SO excited for trailer releases for new gameplay when I was young, for both ts2 and 3. I would daydream about all the amazing gameplay and stories I could tell. With the sims 4? I lost that after dine out. I was SO excited to have my chef sim become a restaurant owner… and well. We all know the rest. I have every pack, though I haven’t payed for a single one myself. I do still play the game, but the excitement is gone for me. The misleading trailers and broken, unusable content has been the last straw. As a long time simmer, who has been here since the beginning, watching the game get worse hurts.
I dont play the sims on a computer anymore but when i did, i was playing on a computer that was over 10 years old and it did just fine loading any kind of builds without lagging. The only time i ever experienced lag from a build was when i downloaded an enormous fantasy castle with a ton of details from the gallery, but any other builds from the gallery were just fine and my computer was so old that i had the legacy edition of the sims 4 (which means i couldnt get new packs past realm of magic) so i kinda dont understand the “old computer” reasoning. I know not everyones computer was like mine, but i mean cmon they could add more than that to the build… they really shouldve just made it smaller but given it more detail if they were that concerned
as i said many times before, the sims 4 is a stillborn miscarriage product that doesn't have a bright future SO that's why we need new, playable decent quality sims game
Remember in the Sims 3 You could look at the neighbourhood view and see a party going on and have the option to crash it? I miss that feature the most. It was just a nice detail that reminded you there was a world outside your sims.
@Reilley, Daniel Yes, you can. I still play it and its the most fun i have playing.
@@MagnumPatrol have you tried running in compatibility mode? I had to do that before and choose Windows 7 or 8.

I didn't know they marketed the Sims 4 as smart sims . . . how ironic because IMO they are the most stupid. Sims 2 were the smartest by far.
Sims 3 where the smartest
That or maybe Sims 3, I never had a Sims in Sims 3 died from needs failure. Sims in Sims 4 will die from starvation in a room full of fridges, which is about as bad as Sims 1, but at least Sims 1 has technical limitation for its time despite their best effort, same excuse can't be made for Sims 4.
I've been bitching about this since day one. They were advertised as the smartest sims ever just because they can multitask, yet the whole multitasking thing is what makes them the most stupid, tedious, micromanagey sims yet.
Right my sim finds her husband cheating next thing they’re laughing
Sims 4 sims have NO personality they are all exactly the same
those aren't actual sims in the trailers
They're 3D models designed and colored to look like sims
Animators created the trailers
That's how you get the unrealistic emotions and interactions
I was looking for someone to say this
They are cinematics made with the graphic motor of Sims 4
Simmers think Blender is only used to make CC for them but its also used to trick them with the trailers lmao
I was checking to see if anyone left this comment before I did.. It is an irritating practice that needs to stop.

Never realized how much false advertisement was littered in the Get Famous promo….. almost all of those scenes they showed for the acting career aren’t even in the game.
Which makes you ponder, how much money and resources did they spend to make a trailer of stuff that’s not even in the game? 😭

Totally agree!!
@@oDM0o I've done that a million times too, they just have a way of making things look so good. I would honestly love to know how they do it lol.
Making it more furnished for the trailer is literally false advertising
beatful but with zero interactions 🤣
Spot on. When I got Cottage Living I was having severe peformance issues in the open countryside neighborhood. Coupled with the light rays from a green ecosystem that came with Eco Lifestyle and I was running a nice 2-3 frames a second. Moved to Willow Creek and no performance issues.
The cottage living one was waay more engaging than the fake vague ones. They should just do that, I def agree with you on that.
What was the point of the legacy edition if they're still going to limit lot detail and game play for those that are still able to play new releases?
this excuse is ridiculous 😂
it sounds like "i'm sorry porefessor, i can't give you my exercize because my dog eated"...
That Get Famous trailer made me cringe so hard. I got the pack from a sale long after its' release so I was well aware of the features. Never watched the trailer (nor do I do watch them even now for I know official ones for any game tend to be bullcrap) but now that I saw it here... sheesh. I feel like they put more effort into their stupid trailers than in the actual game.
exactly
Tbf the marketing department makes the trailer and the software team makes the game but I think your point still stands. They need to either give the actual game some of the money they’re putting into marketing, or at least attempt to make the trailers reflective of real gameplay
I miss Maxis when they owned Sims. They know how to add details and actual gameplay. 😴
So true!! Ever since they left EA was just LOL
Yep, EA has striped all the character from the Sims
EA can never make a good game look at all their other games all just cash grabs the sims is doomed
Paralives: *hold my awesomeness*
THIS AGED SO WELL
This aged EVEN BETTER with Inzoi!
Lmao the fact that they give you warning in the trailer that that everything won’t be in game is BEYOND ME
All game trailers do the disclaimer. But with the Sims 4 it's an almost guarantee its not happening lol
I’m happy I’m not the only one who is annoyed with how big and empty the school is. They honestly could’ve made it smaller and did a lot more with it. It honestly feels like a hospital building imo
the thing is, they don't even need to do shitty builds as a reason so lower end pc players can still play. it's a bit hard to implement completely different builds in different setting versions, like, if you changed your settings midgame, it'd either crash or destroy the existing things and replace them with the higher end versions, which could ruin someone's work in the game. but what isn't hard is implementing code that changes things like the npc spawning rates and amounts, and the debug menu items for the surroundings. so they could make the highschool experience the exact same as the trailer for everyone, but then have it so that if someone has it set for lower settings, there's less people walking around, but also less assets, meaning your game won't load certain objects in the world until you get a certain distance from them, and it reduces the amount of debug menu type decor around you, that's sorta like how some games like minecraft work, where you can set it for lower specs and it'll spawn less creatures and load less of the world around you. this would allow them to have the developed pack they portray in the trailer and still make it playable for people with lower end pcs.
also, i'm pretty sure the reason why they don't get in legal trouble for these trailers is because it's considered cinematic gameplay trailers. so basically it's like those machinima things you mentioned, they're like a short movie type thing made to sell the game but doesn't actually represent what the game is. i mean, mobile game ads do it all the time without even a legal disclaimer to state the trailer footage doesn't represent actual gameplay and they just keep going like it's nothing
yes! the game itself is poorly optimized in my opinion
You can't just "change the game" where ts4 is concerned. It seems to be a very set-in-stone system. That is just inherently broken. There is no fixing it.
Yup it's how poorly the base game is programmed. It's "spaghetti code "
They could definitely stop making it worse though
it cant even be fixed skyrim style with amazing mods either.
That's so insulting to your cow! 🤣
You'd think it'd be a red flag for them that they have to make whole new animations and scenery to make the trailer look interesting.
I don't think they use actual footage from the game for the marketing, it looks like it's completely animated...
It’s actually astonishing that EA hasn’t been sued for false advertisement yet.
I loved the social progressiveness of the fourth game especially when it comes to sharing clothes and hairstyles, choosing body frames, and being able to change whether a sim can get pregnant or pee standing up, but I'm ready to give it up the series since I can't get the old games to work on my pc and 4 is trash and 5 isn't going to be any better if it ever comes out
Werewolves is my fav pack but it is very frustrating how constant the changes are and how quickly fury fills up
The social progressive junk in the sims 4 is actually one of the many things that made me hate it more.
@@JustKelso1993 cringe take
If you can get sims 3 working (and there are some mods that might help with this too) there are mods that add some of sims 4's features that you listed.
Lol this is such a random team but it could work lol.
Rimworld yes!!!! What a rich story-telling game! And I love Eliza Pancakes❤️
OMG yes, we need Gordon Ramsay to snap them out of it XD
2:00 I have actually had my sims do this on single beds before they go to sleep, but it's never something I've told them to do. They just do it autonomously kinda like how some sims do the "relax" action before getting under their covers.
The kneeling on the bed thing seems impossible to replicate on purpose, but just yesterday I bought my materialistic sim a new bed, and when I clicked "admire new object" she crawled onto the bed and kneeled on it to do so.
If the trailers were accurate, then people would always be doing pushups and situps in the background XD
I wish the movies that you film in Get Famous you could watch on your sims tv, that would have been a cool feature
In Sims 3 Generations there was a video camera you could buy that your sims could use to record videos that they could then watch on the TV. Man...that game was not without its issues but the Sims 3's depth of gameplay was AMAZING.
TBH I never had that many problems with dine out except for the fact that it takes 8 hours (sim time)
Omg fr. I wanna take my date out at 6PM but take them at 1 PM so we can finish before midnight 😭
Dine Out seems to work fine when at one point many years ago. But it broke after one patch and it haven't been properly fixed since (they do released several fixes, but it doesn't seem to be resolving anything).

Umm there is a console version of the Sims4. It’s been out for a few years now.
I thought sims 3 was open world on ps3/console? Just had a fire meter you couldnt go over to keep build items down.

Finally an reaction video from an sim tuber
God this only shows how much false advertisement they've got. You should make a video sometime where you react to old Sims 1, 2 and 3 trailers! Could be fun, especially as there was way less false advertising in those! :D
Boost!!! Love that idea
Yess i wanna see that too!
wait it never occurred to me people believed the trailers were gameplay footage... im giggling imagining people at ea trying to set up their sims and film them for trailers
Where’s the Sim getting up from the table at the restaurant to do push-ups in the gameplay trailer?
The part that gets me about Dine out is the other sims stealing my food after waiting so long!
Yeah, that's true. Get Famous was so misleading.
I guess my game feels more lively bcos I took 10 minutes to tweak everything in MCC 😅
The sad reality is Sims 4 is completely UNPLAYABLE without MCC. If I didn't have that I doubt if I would ever play...
what settings do you use in MCCC to make the game more lively?
@@herm712 lol I got MCC, Wicked, Basmental, Slice of Life, and Extreame Violence to make the game a bit more fun, random, and lively.
I got the premium edition of the game when it came out. They were really really pushing how smart and unique the sims would be in sims 4. Not sure why they put so much emphasis on the least considered aspect of the game.
I’ve been able to use the tablet on the bed like that, and there was the superhero acting gig in get famous
you r absolutely right, Dine Out: its weird that they havent planned the toddlers in neither, but they always say that the actual gameplay can vary..
Why is it that they suddenly can build for the trailer (see cottage living) but when it comes to in game suddenly the windows are off center and the building is physically impossible etc.
So the reason I think they said the sims are smarter is because they introduced multitasking, which is nice and annoying at the same time
The game does kind of work that way like making sims feint and stuff. You just have to level up in the fame skill tree before you can do that.
i had a better time playing sims 2 back in 2010 and it had more things to do rather than waiting for sims whenever they are all in school or at work.
I adore how pressed you are about this and I so so soooo agree with everything your saying. If ea would listen to you and fix this bs…
When they removed objects from lots in order to make the game run better on less-advanced PCs they clearly forgot to put the gameplay back in as well.
I miss so much the view from that mansion, of the ENTIRE Brigdetport, in the Sims 3 Late Night at the sunset... Man.. So cool!
i’m sick of getting catfished by the sims 😭
The kneeling in the bed thing, I couldn't do it myself, my sims do it autonomously, but I can't tell them to do so, and it sucks
vampires + high school years would be a wonderful combo.
Sitting on their bed like that may just be something they can only do autonomously because I've seen my child sim do it quite a few times since aging her up from toddler last week. The first time it happened her mom was sitting in bed watching TV and she climbed up on her dad's side of the bed and sat like that to ask for advice about a bully.
abt molly sitting on the bed like that my sims sometimes do that, but its often with reading books/homework only, havent seen them do it with a tablet
I had to block my sim in the bed just to get her to use the tablet like that just to see if it was actually in the game...
My computer couldn’t handle sims 3 back then. This is a joke.
The thumbnail alone had me gagged-
Nah fr tho like you’re so right I’m so glad someone is talking about this because it’s been bothering me so bad
For real.. like the school was so dissapointing i instantly popped down one from lilsimsie to replace it 😂 like i was not having that empty horrible thing.
If they did a list of features for Dine Out, it would go something like this
"Dine Out, where your sims can go to a restaurant and eat a meal, first pick your sims to go to the restaurant, then you get to the restaurant and the host will show you to your table, hopefully. Then get the waiter's attention to order your meal, don't worry if he's playing on his phone or doing pushups, he'll get to you eventually, then get his attention again cause he ignored you the first time, then choose your food and drink for each sim in your party, then wait about 6 or 7 sim hours or until your sims have died from starvation, for your meal to arrive, ahh there it is (shows the waiter putting the plates in front of 2 skeletons or the 2 sims now ghosts) Bon Appetit, and be sure to leave a nice tip if you enjoyed your meal, Dine Out, where you can dine out if you don't die of hunger first.",
The amount of times he says sad 💀
I like to think that the sims in this game have their own character to them. Sure, they stand and then sit multiple times while talking to their selves but like its kinda fun and quirky.
not really related to the video but you r sooo charismatic it's insane
Having a bad week. I need some shanice and shantelle content soon 😂 always look forward to all of your content 💕
They should get sued for such misleading trailers and for selling broken packs
This video needed to happen! Thank you!!!
