  • TesseracT played a handful of small club shows with Lorna Shore on the 2022 European summer tour. It's been a very long time since we've played in small packed-out rooms like this, and wow, the level of energy was next-level! Huge thanks to anyone who came out and an extra special thanks to anyone who bought merch at the shows.
The audio you're hearing in this video is a direct output of the mix I hear on stage. I've talked about this quite a lot since posting my first IEM mix vid a couple of months ago but I mostly hear my drums and metronome in my ears - pretty much everything else I can hear enough of in the on-stage ambient sound, so I don't need it also boosted in my monitors.
If you guys dig this, let me know and I'll record more of these videos on the next tour.
Unrelated directly to this video but somewhat related... if you'd like drum lessons with me, this is where to go: jaypostones-dr...

It can’t be your friend, it IS your friend. Those who refuse to use a click because they think they’re above it always make me laugh. Most are afraid to have their imperfections revealed to them.

Killer stuff as always. Imo, while you’re not an underrated drummer, I think people can over look you because you fill the song where it’s needed rather than attempt to be flashy and purposefully standout. That’s something in general I love you Tesseract- every part is intricate and technical yet blends together to create something that’s musical.

The click gives a reference and consistency. Consistence is stability and stability gives us comfort. It takes instability out of the equation when it comes to playing live and hopefully the band can relax and settle in to the groove without the worry of tempo fluctuating. I started playing live w a click but there is a human element missing when excitement might make the band want to naturally pick up the tempo if they dont practice regularly to a click. Its not easy sticking to the click when band members rush ahead. I guess thats our job to keep them on a leash.

Hearing clicks in 4/4 even if the song isn't is way more helpful in a live setting. Learning to play with it like that is optimal.
Thats my way at least. and I never have accents as that can throw me off at times.

that's very similar to how my in ear mix sounds live. I noticed that many drummers have the vocals very low in the mix. do you have it so low because it interferes with some of your drum sounds, or do you want to keep the ambience of the venue out of the mix? sick, tight playing as always
