Now THAT'S a cymbal demonstration!
i accidentally read this as “cymbal decimation” but honestly it’s just as accurate
Djent back in the early 2010s was such an exciting time, tesseract were definitely at the forefront at that time.
The early 2010s was a very good time for metal im general. Just before spotify over saturated everything
Agreed
Agreed 100%
Agreed, Tesseract was there with Periphery and i love both bands so much.
Really cool to see the evolution of this performance over the last decade. There's a fluidity to Jay's execution here that is hard to match unless you've had a ton of touring experience playing this tune. Nice to compare to the old Century Media Records full band playthrough from 2010 or 2011.
I swear you plucked that exact thought from my mind. He's playing the hell out of it now!
One of the best Meinl Playthroughs ever in the history of this channel. Awesome awesome song and awesome awesome playing. What a great addition to meinl’s roster. Tesseract’s music and jay’s playing really is a perfect combo with Meinl cymbals. These meinls sound wayyyy better in the mix of tesseract as a whole when compared to all the times I’ve heard this song played with his sabian cymbals. But then again whoever mixed this is a beast and that’s also part of it but seen them live numerous times and once recently with his new meinls and the set just sounded better all together being a gearhead and listening to the cymbal tones. The dark trashy meinls just sat perfectly with tesseract and their tuning and their songs.
Agreed
Jay is an amazing drummer! Love TesseracT 🤘🏻
Wish he plays part 2 too. My fav
This!
Jay is one of my favorite drummers. And TesseracT is one of my favorite bands. Last night I actually finally played all the way through "smile" with only a couple mess ups 💪💪
Yohhhhhh, congrats to you & your progress, dood!
So awesome to see some classic Tesseract played!
This was the song that got me into metal back in the day.
Ahh, the djent drummer's mantra: If it ain't swinging, hit it! xD
Man, I love Tesseract so much and Jay's playing is just incredible!
Jay looks so much more comfortable and free on a dynamic kit with all those real cymbals than on his eKit.
Proper "I knew him when" moment; I used to have to pay him the money my band at the time owed him for using his rehearsal room. He had hair then and was constantly infuriated by the sight of me 😂 Reading in 2008 truly was the place to be, unlikely as that may seem....
Haha amazing - the ‘Rhoom’ is still running but with a new guy in charge since I moved to the US. What is / was the name of your band back then?
The end of the video is GOLD
The song that introduced me to TesseracT. And I'm sure most everyone too.
I have waited 84 years for this video. Bless you ❤❤❤
Recently found his personal channel, he has amazing educational content
A true professional.
that 87" that he crashes on a lot sounds gnarly
I've listened to this song maybe a trillion times but I'm still stoked at the musicality of Jay playing and this cymbal set, oh God!
There's so much urgency and drive in One, I wish that they had kept that into their following records; it really set them apart from other artists at the time. Such sexy and tasteful riffs and phrasing!
Dope Jay! who ever mixed this is a son of God! it's sound so good!
i bet this mixed with the one and only god mixing mr adam nolly getgood
@@zacfarro8678 i wonder how he gotsogood
The camera eye contact and the stank face at the start hahaha so good
That slick look at the camera before he started playing 🤣🤣
What happened to part 2 of Navene's Entheos album playthrough?
Jay just hears accents differently from any other drummer on earth. His cymbal work, coupled along with constant hihat work is one of a kind.
Some say his high-hat is still bopping up and down to this day...
Two video shoots with Meinl in a row, this is sick!
So much fun to watch Jay kill it every single time 🔥🔥
Yesssss! What an awesome evolution of this performance from the original album. Watching the years of nuance added to each section is such a treat, not mention the complete mastery honed over all these years it's such a joy to watch!
Yessss!!! Please do every part of it
Jay always absolutely destroys it! would love to see a playthrough of deception and epiphany soon👀
That 22'' is sublime.
More Jay, please.
Jeeze, like, dang! This dude jams
Holy hell this drum mix is.... ❤ damn.
Let's comment in Portuguese expression "P*ta que Pariu"! What a play, what a song, what a drummer. The artistic side on the performance is such awesome. How Jay is so flowed, so natural, so intense, but he make it looks easy to play. What a mix! One of the most incredible drum's tone on current time.
Jay is one of my favorite drummers! I got the opportunity to watch him this year on mexico, absolutely stunning!
Can’t wait for the new album
This is the album that got me into tesseract
No better cymbal ambassador than mister cymbal smasher.
For everything that this is to happen I must thank the universe. Jay masterclass
So ridiculously smooth... incredible playthrough
Yes! Do their whole catalogue!!
Legendary tune
Hell yeah! I hope all parts are released!
Such a pleasure watching this POV. Great upload.
Incredibly creative, powerful and groovy drumming. The cymbals sound great as he puts them through the paces, the stack is sweet.
Great job Jay!!
What an awesome video!!! I love that song !!!
Quickly becoming one of my favorite drummers !
absolutely amazing
I'm actually a fan of the dryer cymbal sound and a definite fan of that 20 inch China he's using in this video nice job Jay!👋🤘
Jay is one of the most solid drummers! nasty and tight fills mate!
Wow! That was insane! Definitely one of the best drummers out there
BIG BIG JAYYYY!! I LOVE THIS SONG, This was the first tesseract song that I heard. Still Amazing...
That 22" Vintage Crash sounds absolutely incredible
love jays drumming
Jay Postones es una verdadera bestia, impresionante lo que hace....
Epic one!
Love the ending xD the playing was super clean, and the cymbal choices work really nicely: the use of a really large, really dry crash cymbal is something I don't hear super often but worked very well.
Meinl Drum Honeyy 😏😏😏😏
The way he said it, you know it works.
@@alexgow7946 i love the way the Prog Metal bands include jokes and puns into their content. Just pure gold 🤣🤣🤣
@@giantbassmanprime example being the “suckmyballs” at the end of Satellites by Periphery 😭
@@ethanpeed yupp 💯 definitely the same effect.
I would love it if the old albums were mixed again to the same standard as the new albums
Beautiful ❤️❤️
Jay killed this 🔥🔥🔥👌
Love tesseract 😍
Jay is a beast
Nice! Jay has spiced that up over the years ;-)
PERFECT!!
Yeahhh so sick 🤘🏽🔥
I forgot how good this song was, wow
This is my favourite thing in the world
Classic and Classy 👌🏻
Great, amazing drumming and excellent sound also from a little research you could easy understand to buy all these cymbals you need an extra liver to sell when you can buyed them!!!
That’s my boy!!
Let's go! 🔥
That’s wtf I’m talking bout! Yes indeed. If you see him coming, better step aside!!!
This ROCKS! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Wow 🤩
What a beast
6:25 made me ascend
I wish these guys would put out some new music
Look at that drum face 😂🤘
Those drums sound so mean, couldn’t get the stank out of my face. Awesome playing.
Golly. This is groovy as hell.
Sick cover. Never knew Nolly could play drums. 🤔
Sounds amazing! Who mixed this playthrough?
Thank you, I did
@@MannyMo_ Nope.
@@meinlcymbals Right on!
Expose that perpetrator & give the real guy his props!
Stunning as usual Jay, Steve_ Swindon
Damn that floor tom looks huge! Is that an 18”?
I have no words 🤤🤩
G.O.A.T 🥰
GOAT drum face 😂😂
So, I notice that Jay's vintage crash has a different Meinl logo than the rest of the cymbals -- I've noticed this on many of my own Meinls and others across the internet. Can someone explain this? At first I thought it was specific to different models of cymbal, but I've seen two different logos on different instances of the same model -- the Benny Greb Sand Hats, for example. Seems like you guys stopped using this logo in the late 2010s.
who would've known jesse pinkman is an insane drummer
Jay Postones give me Gallagher vibes. Smashin melon's
I'm crushed we didn't go into the next song. This was SO sick
Holy shit
I'm just here to edge to the "drum honey" bit
Louis CK went slam off!!!
This guy know how to play drums.
Drumm honnay 😉
Fuckin legend 🤘
More One songs plz
Sorry for the dumb question, but is it so important to stack cymbals by the different sizes? Let's say why you can't put two 18 inch crashes together, why is everyone puts a smaller cymbal on a bigger one?
Not a dumb question at all - I’ve always had success pairing a 16” crash with a slightly smaller china - just because of how the cymbal profiles work together. The pair I’m using here, the 16” Byzance Trash Crash and the 12” Pure Alloy Mini trash china, were a bit of a shot in the dark, but man, they work so well. It’s the exact combo we used for the new TesseracT record (coming soon).
There are no rules with pairing stacks though - it’s all about experimenting to create the sound you want.
@@JayTesseracT thank you for the answer!
