What a beautiful buck! Heavy and mature. Way to go! One thing that has helped me is to use my spotting scope tripod as a rest on downhill slopes. I clip the fore stock into the spotting scope mount, and adjust the front two legs for the downhill slope. Helped me make a difficult shot on a California big horn too. The bi-pod just doesn't cut in on steep down hill shots and makes the gun heavier to pack around all day. Rack that bolt quickly for the follow up shot too if you miss. Good luck on future hunts!!
Thanks! I would agree the bi-pod has some draw backs. Honestly, the best part about having one in my opinion is that when we take a break we can flip it out and set the gun down easily and securely. I could see using the tripod like that would make for a pretty stable shot, that’s a good tip, thanks!
@@ReelsandRidges I hunt with my wife who is small framed. She cannot pack the weight. So when I support her, I pack the tripod, she packs the rifle, less bipod. We have gone to the safari sling too. Light, gun is ready faster and easy to carry, hands free. The bipod does make a good gun rest but makes the gun unfriendly for off hand shots and too heavy for her. Everyone has to find what works for them.
That's a nice looking deer I shot my 1st in Nevada back in 1970 a 3x4 up in thr northeast part of the state Dad cooked up some over a bed of coals It was the best tasting meat I've ever had
That's a really nice buck. Congrats.
Thanks very much, I love the dark antlers 😍
GREAT DEER AND A GREAT SHOT!!!! CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks!!!
Great buck, great hunt despite the terrain. Persistence is what makes for successful hunts.
Thank you! We agree, persistence is the most important factor
Outstanding…👊🏻
Thanks 👊

Yep, just got to find what works, those little improvements can add up to a big difference!
Well done; great shot in rough conditions 😎😎😎⭐️⭐️⭐️

That’s super cool! There is something about cooking the meat on the hunt that is hard to describe, it’s like your really in touch with nature.

it is an ancestoral thing ... goes back thousands and 100's of thousands of years
Ancient memory ... in the dna
Awesome buck! We’re these the Eugene mountains??
Thanks very much! It wasn’t in the Eugene’s but the range we were in looks pretty similar!

Thanks! Of all the bucks we saw, he definitely won in the mass category
@@ReelsandRidges My dad used to hunt Nevada when I was younger haven't been in a while do they let non-resident still hunt there
They do, although it can be tough to draw a tag, honestly it is pretty tough sometimes to draw even as a resident
