Sounds like a fun day, there are some good chukar spots out that way, just make sure you know where the reservation boundary is if you are hunting near it so you don’t cross it. Good luck!
Great video, what weight outfits are you using, I looked in your links and y'all only had Euronymphing or nymph fly rods, is that what you are using? Does anyone use two handed spey rods there due to the distance one can cast with them?
Thanks for checking out the video! We use 7 wt rods at Pyramid, I’m not sure why they aren’t in the links, I’ll take a look and update them, thanks for pointing that out! Yep, people definitely use two handed spey rods out there as well
Sometimes the waves at this lake get too big for the ladder but most of the time it isn’t an issue. The ladder actually helps with smaller waves because you can wade deeper and not worry about a wave going over your waders.
Always a pleasure to watch you guys’s videos! Question, what month where these clips shot and have you ever thought about trying an indicator rig at pyramid?
Thanks so much. We made this episode pretty recently (beginning of May), although we are in the winter that won’t seem to end haha so it is hard to tell. We have had some success at pyramid with indicators and I know lots of people do really well that way, but we usually prefer to strip. Do you prefer indicating?
@@ReelsandRidges makes sense! I do both, although I am a big fan of stripping flies I do like the joy of watching the indicator drop here and there. Stripping flies is definitely my go too. Will there be any more pyramid videos this season?
I agree, pretty fun to watch that indicator go under especially after you’ve been staring at it for several hours 😂. We might be able to make another episode, just kinda depends on the weather and when the fish move back out to the deeper water after the spawn.
You can fish from a boat, but if you are shore fishing a ladder is really helpful for a few reasons. The shelves in the water are at varying distances so when they are way out from the shore you need every bit of distance you can get. Another reason it is nice is because the waves get big out there so if you wade out to your chest you will almost certainly get a wave at some point that will go over your waders. Lastly, it’s often really cold so it is a good way to be out further but not have be in the freezing water.
going fishing at pyramid this weekend but want to go find some chukar in the afternoon, any tips or warnings for either?

Great video as always.
Thanks 👊

Can you ladder fish in the surf?

What size of X of leader should I use
At Pyramid we usually go with 2X
What weight rods do you use?
We usually fish a 7 weight
Massive fish.
What’s up with using the ladders? Are there restrictions using boats? The big brutes you’re catching look strong enough to pull you off the ladder.

You'll get a big one someday!
Awesome!! Fish your ass off in bad weather at Pyramid and you'll catch!!
Yep, those big trout make you earn it!
U hear them baby’s crying
If you know you know
I would throw, kastmasters, rocks, close, OR Count down Rapalas.
