You know what's wild? The egg that's in the egg McMuffin is probably one of the most real foods at McDonalds. I worked there as a teenager and was stunned that we actually cracked eggs onto the grill to make it.

As someone from England, I can confirm that we do actually call them 'English' muffins a lot of the time. American muffins are arguably as common in the UK now, so it would cause too much confusion.

I do the same thing! I use Bays english muffins, and get the Brioche variety. That is great stuff and I toast that on the same griddle where I cook the sausage and eggs. walmart frozen pre-cooked sausage patties. I use the rings from a mason jar to cook the eggs and break the yolk. A little mayo on each muffin, and a dot of dijon mustard on the side where I put the sausage.
Can't overstate how much I appreciate the measurements given in grams.

Truthfully even though no one should be going to McDonald’s to be healthy, the egg McMuffin is probably the most nutritious menu item for the calories you’re eating.
I mean it's basically the same thing I would make at home for a regular breakfast. Mcdonalds is so cheap it literally isn't worth the time to make it ever myself considering they are a block away unless I am going higher end esp considering the app deals.

That's not the point. McDonalds isn't looking for 5* meals, they want easily repeatable stuff that's passable that acne-ridden teenagers can replicate in their restaurants and not f*ck up. They still mess it up from time to time, but consistency is the game here.
That's the entire point that these vids miss. When something has "clout" in the fast-food sphere, it just means it's better than other $hitty fast-food options, not that it can go toe-to-toe with anything that's actually edible and made from scratch. Fast food is all about speed and consistency, and that's exactly what you get. So whenever you make something yourself, *of course* it's going to be better. You just spent 6-12 hours making a god damn muffin with egg on it. Breakfast gone and rolled past already.

At McDonald's it's 2.80 a sandwich. So you can get 3x the sandwich at home for what you pay for McDonald's. There's almost nothing that's cheaper at a restaurant than doing it yourself. Learn economics.

"American cheese" was created by a Canadian, interestingly enough. Another interesting fact, is Canadians don't eat what Americans call "Canadian bacon". What Canadians *think* Americans are referring to as "Canadian bacon" (which they aren't) is actually called peameal (bacon) in Canada. But what Americans are actually referring to as "Canadian bacon" is some sort of roundish processed ham product. Completely different.

I order mine to be more gourmet every time... I always ask give the upcoming specific directions (and yeah, I’m a pain in their ass for doing this lol, but their food ain’t cheap anymore, so fuck ‘em!
If they want to start charging the kind of money that a restaurant with higher quality food normally charges, then they better be prepared to start acting more like a normal restaurant, which includes people customizing their food orders... They have been getting very greedy with their food prices over the last few years, to say the least!)...
1) Use a fresh egg (none of that pre-cooked microwaved shit)
2) Make sure that cheese is MELTED!
3) Add _TWO_ slices of tomatoes.
4) Add plenty of mayo.
5) No meat (I’ve been a vegetarian for 30 years now).
My Egg McMuffins always come out delish af. My long-term significant other is a massive meat eater, but after he tried a bite of mine, he always asks for me to order it for him the way I do it for myself. That’s how good it is. :)
I’m so glad that he made that decision too (without me even provoking it to boot), because before he chose to do that, there was an incident where McDonald’s messed up in how they labeled our egg McMuffin packaging, so I ended up taking a big bite of an Egg McMuffin that had meat in it, and I instantly wanted to throw up. Soooo nasty.
I spit out my food all over the Egg McMuffin, so my boyfriend obviously didn’t want it after I did that; it therefore had to be wasted/thrown away.
The only thing worse than wasting food in my eyes is wasting money. It really pissed me off!

It was served at a California McDonalds. The owner of that McDonalds wanted to make a simple breakfast sandwich. It was basically an Eggs Benedict, only without the Hollandaise sauce. He showed it to Roy Croc and he loved it. And the rest is history.
