I love how I continue to watch these as if I’m actually going to put this amount of effort into a breakfast sandwich
You are very correct...
Truth
I'll make the biscuits though.
I've come pretty close.
TBH who else to spend your time on than you! With few shortcuts like finding a local bakery that has good products and quality source of pre-ground meat, you can cut the prep time significantly WHILE keeping the taste and quality way above "regular breakfast"
Sometimes we forget Joshua is just like the rest of us, but seeing that he too has a disorganized mess of a freezer is a welcome reminder.
Timestanp?
I would have bet money the only thing he had in his freezer was frozen stock.

I’d be interested in seeing some videos in a “But Faster” series. Show us how to make quick meals at home faster than you could by driving out to a restaurant, ordering, and returning.
This could be fun.
As others have said on many videos before, that's not the point of the channel. I could only guess that Joshua will go that route once he has ran out of content.
maybe "but Quickly" or "But in Bulk" or "But for later"
To be honest… these are like the worst videos on UA-cam. Unless you have a recipe that’s actually fast to make, this would just be him butchering a bunch of recipes and making mediocre food. If someone needs faster food again I recommend just trying simpler recipes
You could be like me when I first started cooking and always have the stove on high heat. Of course there's a good reason I don't do that anymore. 😂
I wish i had a chef like Joshua to just cook me delicious food like this

Thank so much for this one! I have tried ever commercial sausage on the market but none have the flavors of my childhood. Your sausage herb blend is perfect! Just made the best batch of biscuits and gravy I’ve had in years!
I’ve just made these for my meal prep breakfast (shop bought muffins though!)
That sausage mix is utterly incredible! Thank you. Keep up the good work. One of the best food channel on here 👌🏻
Josh, I love you. I love your recipes. Everything I’ve made from your cookbook has been straight up 🔥. Your sandwich looks amazing and if I want something amazing, I’ll make this. BUT, if I’m going to McD’s for a breffast biscuit, it’s because I want to hate myself a little bit while I lick the cheese-like substance off the wrapper in my car in the parking lot. Don’t try to compare your beautiful food art to that naughty, delightful moment. 😹😘

Best, most true comment ever 😂 I love the McDonald's breakfast biscuit with cheese and ketchup
Something about eating a mcd biscuit sandwich in your car while listening to a podcast, crumbs falling over your lap, letting that sausage grease dibble down your chin. It's so bad, but oh so good.
I agree. I always get the southern style chicken biscuit and a micgriddle and then swap the insides. They aren't the greatest fast food items but they're somehow the most crack-like where I'd choose them over most anything for breakfast sans bojangles or chickfila.

I like how you say "if you ever have to order something with egg, you need to turn 360 degrees and walk out that door" because 360 degrees is a full circle, so technically, you'd have to Moonwalk out the door
Thank you for this… 👍😉
Lol came here to see if someone else caught that
Wait, you're not supposed to moonwalk out of the door? No wonder I always get weird looks...
GOOD LAWD!! This man cooks up some of the most GLORIOUS looking chow and makes me laugh out loud! Great job!
What I have done is take the Pillsbury Dough Boy Crossaints and buscuits. Bake and butter.
I take 80/20 ground beef and make a burger or a crescent for the crossiant .
Then , I take eggs, make them in the same shape.
Combine with cheese.

McDonalds can't make fresh food. This is why this guy knows food. He understands quality is always from home.
I would love to see you try to make the loaded omelette biscuit from Hardee’s
agreed. do they have or have you had the porkchop and gravy or honey butter chicken biscuit at the ones around you? Back when they had both on the menu here I think I gained like 10 pounds in 2 months because I could never decide which one I wanted and always ended up getting both and putting hot sauce on the honey butter one.
Double loaded omelette on sour dough toasted on both sides.........thank me later

@@hippityhoppity3800 I love their sour dough. the frisco is my fav burger there. I've never tried their sour dough breakfast sandwich cause I'm just a chicken biscuit lover.
@@clashwithkeen It's a loaded omelette.....they make a double loaded omelette as well but they come on a biscuit. So I order the double loaded omelette and substitute sourdough for the biscuit.
I will give this one to you, but a McDonalds Sausage, Egg, n Cheese biscuit holds a nostalgia factor for me. I can't bring myself to hate it despite how greasy my entire face feels after eating one. Despite how I feel like I forget how to breathe after inhaling one.

I’ve been following your recipes for a while now, I cure and smoke my own bacon and holiday hams now after following your instructional videos. So today’s breakfast was epic, home made sausage and egg biscuit with cheese. My wife’s comment… “you can make those again!”
So thanks Josh and keep up the good work 👍
If you form the biscuit dough into a rectangle, you can use a pizza cutter to cut it into squares. No leftover dough to reform. They won't all be perfectly shaped, but the more the dough is handled, the tougher it gets. The last ones are never as good as the ones cut first.
In reality you could just free form them for some reason the misshapen looks make it seem tastier

What if Josh froze/refrigerated then reheated the ingredients? The way mcdonalds would make the sandwich. I feel like that would be the real test of but better
Why tf would he do that?
@@nemau3358 Because that's what McDonalds does.
@Doug Green and that shows how he makes it better. Mcdonalds would be better with all fresh ingredients not frozen.
@@nemau3358 because breakfast sandwiches like this are all about prep. You make it in advance so you can quickly reheat it in the morning.

Ooh… so this is the US-counterpart of the McDonald's Chessey Eggdesal (Egg + Pan de Sal) here in the Philippines, and the cheese are folded/sandwiched inside the scrambled egg. My favourite McBreakfast. 💖

As someone who worked for the Golden Arches for almost 10 years, I agree with everything he said about the sausage egg biscuit. It’s easily the worst item at McDonald’s and it is the driest biscuit in the world. Just get an egg McMuffin or a sausage McMuffin, why do this to yourself. Take it from me
I always made my biscuits with the ones fresh out of the oven 😂 the cabinet made them even drier
or a mcgriddle
Those English muffins are significantly worse than the biscuits. Major 🧢
To be fair English muffins are terrible so no matter how bad the biscuits are at McD's they will never be as bad as an english muffin.
Mcgriddles are better than both by miles
My son's a foodie. He is recommended by the doctor to avoid sugar and flour as much as possible. I don't like to give him outside food, as the ingredients have so many additives. So every time he gets a fan of some recipe outside, I search Joshua's channel, and every single time I find the recipe there. I have tried them, and he is not lying all of them are better than the bought ones. Tomorrow's school cafeteria menu is egg and cheese biscuits, and this recipe is going in his lunch box tomorrow from this mom's kitchen. (yes I am that annoying mom, to whom whenever you tell her you want to eat out, I make that recipe and feed it to you. Can't help it, I agree that's annoying)
Same I feel bad when I make other moms feel bad but I just love to do this. I don't have any problem with other moms raising their kids however they can. I personally though have the time and ability (and passion) to be making these foods from scratch.
Opening the cupboard intro and talking is most epic
I can attest to the the JW Biscuit recipe! IT IS DA BEST!!!!!! My husband, who can take or leave a biscuit, (because they are just clumps of sawdust - his words) actually REQUESTS these biscuits! Thanks JW, for making me look good!!!!

I made this today right after watching this video! It was delicious! :D
Sausage Egg McMuffin is my go too…. favorite breakfast item!! 😋
I just made the egg exactly like Josh did BUT....I added the cheese on top of the egg and then folded it. EXCELLENT results.
I am so confused. Maybe the McDonald's in my area are different, but the sausage and egg biscuit is the only reason I'll go to McDonalds. The biscuit is only dry if it's been sitting under the heater for too long, the sausage is really good, and the egg... is whatever.
McDonald's Sausage is not really good tf? Go to the store buy a sausage and then cook it in a pan and wow it tastes significantly better

Seconded, they have a decent burger but their shoestring fries are rather unique in the industry.
All the biscuit required is a little love/Care and a lot of butter 🧈
I just found one of the attachments Mom had for my old girl KitchenAid mixer (she’s 47 years old)-a meat grinder! I forgot she’d gotten one! Now I need to make my own sausage for these sandwiches. And sausage rolls! My mouth is watering already.
On Sundays I meal prep by making tons of these breakfast sandwiches with bacon. And wrap them up and freeze them.
Later in the week I just take it out wrap it in a paper towel and microwave it for 2 minutes. Saves so much time and is so delicious. I also do this with a big casserole dish of lasagna and enchiladas. And other dishes. Saves SO MUCH time and I eat so good every meal 💙
Make your own microwave meals and eat them with in a week. Made my life so much more enjoyable lmao
I made those biscuits, but with only regular milk, and gravy on the side. So good, amazing recipe
I always hated McDonald’s sausage. There was ALWAYS at least one bite where I felt like I bit down on a rock. Which is why I always get the breakfast sandwich with bacon instead
I mean, you don't get mcdonalds breakfast to enjoy it, you get it because you're hungover and have to be functional at work in an hour
I worked at the Golden Arches back in 1987. I was in high school and had to open on weekends. I had to get there at 5am to make the biscuits. Believe it or not, back then they were made the traditional way. The ingredients were all prepackaged but I still had to cut the butter into the flour and add the buttermilk, knead, etc. While they weren’t the most amazing biscuits, they were still good. I have no idea what kind of process is used today, but they aren’t the same biscuits as when I was working there.
My mouth is watering!
I had a sausage biscuit with egg and cheese this morning. They changed the biscuits and they are certainly better than I remember them. My biscuit was not dry. I usually avoid the egg but it was tasty today so I'd be more inclined to do it again. Keep on keeping on McDs!
I think the biscuits reall depend on where you are, because I had one the other day and the biscuit was delicious. Not dry at all. I’ve actually never had a bad biscuit from McDonald’s.
Same with me, it all depends on time and location
in ireland we have the sausage and egg mcmuffin and its the same is the biscuit but on an english muffin and its really good
Never Disappoints 💯🔥
I will not accept any McDonald’s breakfast biscuit sandwich slander sir. These are delicious no upgrade needed.
You’re treadin’ on mighty thin ice pardner
I've eaten glue tastier than those McDonald's breakfast sandwiches. I still can't remember what brand of glue it was, but it was sweet in a almost honey like way.
I work part time at mcds in kitchen to pay for my university expenses (books n supplies n stuff) and tbh our breakfast isnt that bad, all our eggs are freshly cracked n cooked, our muffins n bread products are always freshly toasted, the sausage n ham are the same aswell. What i think makes it seem not as fresh is that due to it being fast food, its made it large quantities and left sitting inside the containers for minutes which might not seem like alot of time, but for meat and egg products a few minutes is enough for it to dry out etc…. Regardless its not the quality of the product, but the fast food practices that require us to make alot of s product at a time to make sure it last during busy hours
I’m so happy that you’re down with the MSG and don’t hide it!
I would love a but better and cheaper series where he makes things better and cheap so basically 2 series at once
Hi Josh, me again, I actually love sausage egg and cheese biscuits for breakfast and I already know for a fact I will make this tomorrow morning because I have to get ingredients. How could I store the biscuit so that I can take them out of my fridge whenever I want a sandwich. Sorry for the long message, but I love watching and making you food. As you would say, Papa loves you.
I tried cutting them all and stacking them together in a log, the way they come in cans at the store. Wrapped in plastic wrap (sorry), and if I remember, they weren’t bad when I took one or two out at a time. That said, don’t keep them around for a really long time. I think homemade biscuits and pie dough aren’t made for several days’ storage. Maybe a vacuum seal would help, if you could keep from smashing the goods. Edit: this is not a really expensive food item(& don’t take long to make), so it wouldn’t hurt to experiment a little.
Also, if you want them fresh each day, I sometimes speed it up by making only one or two and not messing with the butter. I do it by eye: about 1/2 c flour, salt, sugar, good amount of baking powder (but don’t go crazy, there’s not that much flour), tiny bit of baking soda (because acid in yogurt), and enough yogurt to get the right consistency. Mash together, do some folding similar to Josh’s (helps make layers) but always be gentle and don’t overwork. Pat out with hand and cut two biscuits. Bake 400° or 450° for maybe 15 minutes (when they look appropriately brown). Last hint: when cutting, cut straight down. Don’t twist the cutter or you risk destroying all the good layering.
Biscuits always dry out, no matter how you store them. If that's okay with you, knock yourself out. But I think a better idea would be to take the biscuits you cut out from the dough, wrap them in plastic and refrigerate. Then just take some out and bake whenever needed. You're gonna need some time to cook your sausage and egg anyway, so why not use that time to get (relatively) fresh biscuits as well?
@@xyrthor just in case my response wasn’t clear, I also meant the dough, not the baked biscuit.
I literally did this at home when the video dropped. Lots of store bought stuff but I've been making a smash burger out of Jimmy Dean caseless sausage
Land Air Sea from McDonald’s would be a fun one to see. Love the videos.
Out of all the videos I’ve seen in the but better series i have yet to see del taco. Unless maybe I’m stoned and just have a craving but shhhh😂
Petition for But Better to have a rule that you have to use ingredients based on the price of the competitor, for example, let's say MCDonalds MC muffin is $5, he can only use 5$ and maybe a little extra.
I feel like this would pose more of a challenge rather than only beating them to a pulp
This would make it way more interesting to watch on a “competition” angle
Yeah. And call it something like "but costs less" or "but less expensive"... Or... I don't know.. 🙃
Just using my recent purchases. i got a 7# pork shoulder for just over 10$, bag of flour couple bucks, eggs say 5$ for a dozen, cheese 3$ per block so youre looking at roughly 20$ for 6 sandos, which cost him 4.53 per sandwich. This isn't only better, but also cheaper.
thats not the fking point of this tho..... the point is to see how badly the average person gets treated by the pillars of capitalism as this proves the individual produces much more wholesome stuff than the institution
Hirasawa yui!
One of the things that made Anthony Bourdain so great was that even as a Michelin starred chef, he could enthusiastically enjoy a hot dog, or fast food without talking down to his audience or having to flex about how he was somehow “above” people who found guilty pleasure in popularly loved food. Having to go on an on and ridicule an audience about how stupid there are for liking a McDonalds breakfast isn’t a good look. As a chef, it’s also why I don’t really turn into your channel too much anymore.
Agreed. The tone of this series is supposed to be a little condescending, but Josh seems to forget us simple folk still enjoy garbage food from time to time.
@@OmnipotentEnt he also loves to brag about his food is better than it… dude you spent all day making a single sandwich and likely 20-30$ no shit it’s better than a frozen thing for 2$. Guy is just an ass anymore.
@@erichall090909 I think it's also important to separate his UA-cam persona from his actual personality. I've heard nothing but positive things about fans running into Josh in public. Being from the south, the biscuits really are not impressing me much. The fact that he blended his own sausage was a nice touch. I love how he always goes above and beyond. But the biscuit game.. it needs some work.

In Canada its called the sausage and egg mcmuffin and it always comes with cheese.
You used to make epic recipes - now you're just looking to go viral as many times as possible. I miss the old josh
How do you make this for a family quickly? I usually don't make biscuits for myself (never but glad you were able to demonstrate what a pain it was so I don't try). I truly like your work and follow you but no reason to take down the goodness of MCD. Take the high road and say you perfected the breakfast sandwich by adding a serious amount of butter, cheese, cost and time and one you can eat by yourself because there is no way I'm standing and cooking that egg for 5 people. It's one thing to improve on something a lot of us eat everyday but another to make it sound like you are better than us because you have a meat grinder, hamburger press, special flour, an unlimited amount time and no one to have breakfast with. MCD - I love you more after this. I realize what you do - you provide consistent high quality food we can all eat at the same time and not break the budget. This looks amazing but is not practical and I don't think the condensing tone is needed.
You Are The BEST!!!!!!🙂🙂😊😊

Does anyone else get sick and tired of Josh acting like he’s so above fast food items that regular ppl think are actually pretty good. He gets so dramatic sometimes
Not really it shows that fast foods are just that fast food and there is not much more to it he actually attempts to show us how to make better versions at home. I’ve implemented tips and tricks from his vids in my cooking and I haven’t been día pointed even if a don’t make everything from scratch what I make tasted much better than any fast food. Fast foods are convenient and sometimes decent and very little items are actually really good but I still have some from time to time. Like for example fried chicken since the process is messy and I hate not knowing if it’s actually cooked.
No fast food is pretty good and honestly he’s right. These places use the cheapest of products and charge you an arm and a leg for their food.
He is
Well Don't watch Fuck Face
ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!! Read my posts!!!!!!!! He MAY make a "better" sandwich by some ineffable standard, but look at how much it would cost to make (a whole side of pork for eight patties?) and how many calories he puts in it (tons of butter and two slices of expensive cheese?).
If you were to buy his sandwich at a restaurant, it would cost ten bucks for one! I'll take McDonald's any day for all of that!
