The only time I've had true respect for the Fatui. Thrain truely cares about his men and that care shows in them.
Those are the conditions of any battle ever that a soldier rushes into. The resurrection thing in Natlan was just a weird plot device. It was never fully explained how it worked either.

The first Pyro Archon made a deal with the Goddess of Death, since their souls couldn’t join the rest of Teyvat in the Ley Lines and were subjected to a bigger threat of the Abyss, she gave them the Ode as a form to even the field between Natlanese and the Abyss cause if they failed all the other nations would be in grave danger. She even said that if the Heavenly Principles caught on to it she would feign ignorance and say the humans stole it by themselves. All of this was explicitly told to us in the Archon Quest.
Arlecchino was right about him deserving respect, He literally saved Natlan and Mavuika's life.

The man didn’t sleep for 500 years, Strength a fraction of what it once was, 100s of soul’s Whaling in Pain inside his head. This guys a legend.
Brought countless souls in agony to salvation instead of using them to gain knowledges for his own use, and saved an entire nation, even though that his mortal form was literally rotting, he persistently striving without any sleep for half a millennia. Doing all of that without anyone to remember his real name, face, family, homeland; his identity. Such a chad.
Actually, if we follow the origin of his name, Thrain, and it's icelandic legend, you'd discover that the Thrain in the original legend "absorbed four hundred and twenty souls including the king" with him. And so, Capitano most likely has more than 400 souls inside of him.

The longer things go on the more the Harbingers are looking like the IPC where some ARE GOOD and some are BAD but in reverse we got to meet the bad ones first in genshin. And over time we are meeting the good ones. Remember the Tzarista is supposed to represent love. But sometimes love can make people do crazy things.
I love how, in the beginning, the harbingers were just some random enemies, then we met childe, signora and scara, which all were kind of goofy characters, and now we have capitano and arlecchino, which are both great and respectable
1:17, i love how the caption says heroes of 3 nations cuz it wasnt just natlan or capitano(khanrian) but snezhnayan warriors. Love that they were praised as heroes in this too
I think this is going a bit different. The three nations hero's might be a double meaning.
1: What you stated, Natlan, Khaneria, and Snezhnaya
2: Capitano, The Traveler, and Mavuika (Khaneria, ???, and Natlan).
Thought process on 2 is the ending summery by the old dude who talks of a tale of 3 hero's and technically all three are from different nations. He mentions "An Outlander, a soul from Khaneria, and our very own god Mavuika"

From a narrative perspective, I truly wish we had been given more time to get to know the Captain better. It would've made his passing so much more impactful, and all the more painful. I didn't know you long enough, Captain, but what I can gleam from that short time alone is how you are a man of great honor. Rest well, Captain 😢
they should have given him furina suffering screentime treatment and all the people who didn't like natlan that much would have loved it.

edit : I also think because hoyo needs to build up players investment to his character like scaramouche because "male character" Scara first appear in 1.1 and only became playable 2 years after that in 3.4/3.5 I think
Plus with capitano becoming the master of leylines in natlan and consider how we more and more going into khaenriah, loom of fate, fatui, leylines plus this pv only supports my reason why capitano will be playable not like signora

That I think is the intent. Think about it. We know and saw so little of him, and yet at the end of it all he managed to garner from us the ultimate respect. He swoops in to save the day with little to no ado like the great heroes in stories told around campfires. I think expanding too much into his story would've cheapened his final sacrifice and made him look too human and less grand as a hero and a man of unshakable principles. His end is very much in line with how he did things, less fluff more results (he didn't even bat an eye taking in the souls of the fallen.) And MAN did he get the best result of all time.

Capitano is one of the most selfless characters here. I will always respect him and the people who are like him. He sacrificed himself for the nation and the burdens he had within…rest in peace king.

Il Captain just feels like a character of such tragedy.. no one remembers his name, no one remembers his face, yet he has the bear all the pain of the souls he has within himself.. We barely learn anything personal about him still, all we know is his feats as a combatant, so i feel like he barely had any time for himself, always protecting the nations he sore his loyalty to.. "You either die a hero, or live long enough to be a villain" yet he remained alive with countless souls tormenting his mental with voices, not letting him rest with sleep even once in all 500 years, his countless wounds from battle and eventual rotting of his body deepening his suffering, yet he never became a villain.. I truly hope that he can come back, to actually enjoy life for once, I know that his current ending might be considered true peace for him, yet he never seemingly got to enjoy joy in his life, someone as honorable as him deserves it.
Funnily enough, one person does. The person who revealed his name to us as the player. There's a girl at the end of the archon quest who talks about how her family fought alongside him 500 years ago and his name.

He genuinely stole my heart. So unexpectedly. He’s undoubtedly one of my favourite characters in the whole damn game, and he’s only had minimal screen time. Goes to show the quality of his lore and writing was top tier. May he finally find his rest. He certainly earned it.

There can easily be scenerio where the Lord of the Night uses him as an avatar to interact with the world (still remaining a part of her to help stabilize the ley lines but with a recreated body so he can act on his own, perhaps to act on her behalf). Since we know there is still conflict in Natlan with one more weekly boss and the resolution of the fatui hunting for the pyro gnosis. And lets not forget, the ancient name Xilonen was shown making in her trailer was the name for "Guidance". And the Lord of the Night, whom Capitano is a part of now, is an angel, which are the original form of seelies. And Seelies are known to guide humanity as "divine envoys." So Hoyo has set up hints for bringing him back one day if they want. Its just if they choose to go that route.

everything about this man is peak, carrying the souls of your comrades for 500 years while your body is rotting and debilitating and you can't sleep because you hear their tortured voices every night, THEN joining the efforts of a nation you don't even belong to and helping them win their war against the abyss, and THEN saving that nation's leader and at the same time challenging the divine and coming out on top while ALSO delivering the souls of your comrades and friends to their final resting place and becoming the master of the ley lines, ALL WHILE BEING HUMAN, i simply can't this man is too cool

Do you really think they are going to drop the most powerful being in Teyvat, as a playable character halfway through the Teyvat Chapter?

He's just getting too much focus and marketing for a character whose Unplayable, it doesn't make sense financially or logically to do all this for him, specially since nobody expected a fully animated trailer for him. Kinich, xilonen and chasca didn't get one of these. Mualani, kachina, citlali and mauvika did. It makes more sense to dedicate a short to any of the former 3, but Capitano gets one ? Every other "weird" decision hoyo has made over the years has an explainable excuse, usually in line with their pursuit of higher revenue, but "wasting" all that money on a character whose not playable ? How is this specific trailer going to make the company money unless they plan to release him later down the line, scoring a "devs listened" point, generating tons of hype and good will and making every hater look like an idiot, never daring to question mihoyo ever again ?

It will be really hard to make up some logical stuff if they release him later

From an animation standpoint, i can see why childe deeply admires capitano’s way of fighting. he doesn’t “MOVE” a lot, his attacks and flow of movement is VERY EFFICIENT, virtually having zero wasted movement. he doesn’t even run that much, he just walks a lot of the time, dude has managed to maximize output and minimized unnecessary effort

Really wish we had seen Fatui/Snezhnayan souls in his sacrifice cutscene. Since only souls of Natlan people can be accepted by the Ley lines/Night Kingdom in Natlan, I refuse to believe the man didn’t take within him the souls of the soldiers under his command who fell during the recent Abyss invasion, what with how honorable he is.

Do you know what i love best about Capitano? He wasnt always right and didnt always win. He is human and imperfect, and that makes his strength and his character so much better. He did what he thought was right and sometimes it was wrong, and that is okay. It makes him more relatable and makes him a roll model, at least to me. Rest well, righteous Captain

I loved the Captain, and his death really shows the Tsaritsas ideal. Even thought the Gnosis is key to her plan, she was happy for her Number 1 Soldier to seek his happy ending instead. The more we learn, the more we can tell the Tsaritsa isn't a bad person, even if not everyone in the Fatui is great.
She feels like a "the ends justify the means" kind of person, given that she even allowed Dottore to live with his heinous crimes.
Yeah, tell that to Dottore and Regrator, two of the bigges scumbags in the fatui. LOL And Columbina and Sandrone might be bad too, who knows? She's morally grey, at best.
And even after the captain's death, the tsaritsa didn't remove him from his seat as the #1 of the harbingers it remains empty but won't be occupied by anyone

His strength in his prime must have been something else. Certain humans in Teyvat honestly have more potential than the gods (excluding the shades and the heavenly principles). Makes me wonder how strong Dain is and if he could really be stronger than Capitano. And Mavuika is the best archon in terms of being a leader and protector of her nation. Only a descender probably has more potential than humans in Teyvat. Prime Capitano vs Mavuika using the shade of death’s power would have been such an incredible fight.
